MISSION STATEMENT We are dedicated to providing and promoting access to an extensive range of print and electronic resources, tools and technologies to: ◦ Support the academic, artistic and recreational needs of the school community ◦ Encourage our staff and students to become competent users of information and independent lifelong learners ◦ Stimulate a love of reading, learning and inquiry
What has changed? Major upgrade to the Secondary Study Room with vibrant carpet and plenty of places to put your feet up.
Secondary Library Summer borrowing scheme expands to school wide.
We added virtual reality to our displays - visuals come alive.
The Secondary Library forms a partnership with the Ma On Shan Public Library so students can apply for a card and take advantage of the digital resources Hong Kong Public Libraries offer. The Secondary students Goodreads accounts are synced with their RC learning portfolios.
The primary library students have robots and dinosaurs duelling as we invest in VR books and apps.
We added iPod shuffles for students to borrow as access to our expanding Audible ebook collections.

Book Week and Languages Week Read more on the Book Week weebly http://rchkbookweek.rchk.edu.hk/ The LIRC and the Primary and Secondary Language teams worked together to deliver a week of snuggling down with a good book and enjoying the reading.
Another first was the Book & Languages Week theme song. Written, performed and produced by the LIRC team, it received nearly 2000 views on the LIRC Productions youtube account.
Other activities included the Racing Robots Obstacle Course, read alouds, house book and language quiz, pyjama dress down day, the house directors bedtime story assembly and story quilts made by the primary classes.
Major Events in the LIRC Booktober peer reading scheme college wide.
Year 6 Transition Week had students learning the Secondary Library Collections via a QR code scavenger hunt.
“Talk like a pirate week� with plenty of activities on the collaboration tables.
Battle of the Books (BoB) Hong Kong The Primary team competed at Beacon Hill Primary School.
The Secondary Library hosted the semi finals at RCHK. The team won and went onto compete at Hong Kong Academy in the finals, narrowly missing out on the win.

Collection Development Statistics
LIRC Staff Achievements beyond RCHK Ms Isabel Ho, Library Assistant, completed the Hong Kong Library Association Mentor Programme. Ms Shirley Chan, PYP Teacher Librarian, attended the Rethinking Literacy Conference in Singapore and was a BrainPOP sponsored educator for ETC Hong Kong. Ms Monica Morscheck, PYP DP Teacher Librarian and LIRC Coordinator, presented at FlipCon in Australia and The Asia Pacific International Schools Conference and Learning & Teaching Expo in Hong Kong. She completed the Copyright for Educators course and Developing your Research Project course through South Hampton University. She was was a BrainPOP sponsored educator for ETC Hong Kong. LIRC Staff Farewells and Welcomes Farewell Ms Sunme Ru, Primary Library Assistant. Ms Ru has been at the school for over 9 years, we wish her every success at her new job in the German Swiss Secondary Library. Welcome Ms Michelle Roberts, MYP Teacher Librarian. Ms Roberts joins us from an international placements in China and Peru. She worked in the New York Public Library extensively before making the switch to teaching.
