RCHK LIRC Renaissance College, Hong Kong Library and Information Resource Centre Comprising the Primary Library, Secondary Library and Virtual Libraries ANNUAL REPORT 2016 - 2017
MISSION STATEMENT We are dedicated to providing and promoting access to an extensive range of print and electronic resources, tools and technologies to: ◦ Support the academic, artistic and recreational needs of the school community ◦ Encourage our staff and students to become competent users of information and independent lifelong learners ◦ Stimulate a love of reading, learning and inquiry
What has changed? The Primary Library saw a major upgrade during the summer break. The upgrade used the principals of The Design Thinking Routine to cater for busy timetabled periods of 4 classes and catered to the physical and reading needs of children from Y1 to Y6. A big thank you to the RAPT for supporting the library and allowing the purchasing of additional soft seating.
The Secondary Library saw some upgrades to the fiction reading space, new high whiteboard tables for collaborative work and magazine area.
The Secondary Library created “The Reading Retreat”, a small quiet space permanently setup for comfortable quiet reading and browsing our graphic novel collection. It’s proved a great shared reading space when primary come to visit.
The LIRC introduced 2 Apps, the RCHKLIRC App and Library Link Oliver Catalogue App. Students can now use their smartphones to access all the library resources. These will be used by students in the Secondary Library
The library catalogue Oliver allows students to use Google Single Sign on to access their accounts. The library catalogue Orbit in the Primary was updated to a colourful child friendly interface.
