Per festeggiare il suo elegante restauro, il prestigioso museo Palais Galliera di Parigi ospiterà fino al prossimo 26 gennaio 2014 l’imperdibile mostra dedicata ad Azzedine Alaïa, lo straordinario stilista tunisino che ha cambiato per sempre l’estetica contemporanea del corpo femminile. Scultore di abiti così perfetti da sembrare una seconda pelle, imparò a cucire grazie alla sorella e, ricreando le creazioni dell’haute couture parigina per le dame dell’alta società, riuscì a pagarsi gli studi alla Scuola di Belle Arti di Tunisi, prima di spiccare il volo per Parigi e fare esperienza da Guy Laroche e Christian Dior, finchè nel 1979 l’amico Thierry Mugler non lo convinse a lanciare una linea con il suo nome. Il successo fu immediato, il suo stile conquistò subito dive come Louise de Vilmorin, Arletty e Greta Garbo. Nessuno tutt’oggi è in grado di tagliare e cucire la pelle sul corpo come lui, seguendone ed esaltandone le forme. Le sue silhouette flessuose a clessidra, con la vita compressa da maxi cinture bustier a sottolineare il punto vita, oltre a un sapiente uso della zip in abiti iconici rimasti nella memoria collettiva, gli assicurano di diritto un posto tra i grandi della moda, nonostante un silenzio di ben 8 anni e una sola grande rientrée nel 2011 con una collezione prodigiosa, seguita per ora solo da piccole presentazioni private. Schivo e riservato, rifiuta di piegarsi al meccanismo compulsivo della stagionalità, sfilando solo quando ha davvero qualcosa da dire, come fanno i veri artisti. E opere d’arte sono gli oltre 70 abiti esposti a Parigi di un couturier straordinario, da sempre contro il tempo e senza tempo.

The prestigious museum Palais Galliera in Paris will host the unmissable exhibition dedicated to Azzedine Alaia until the next 26th January 2014. Azzedine Alaïa is the extraordinary Tunisian stylist who changed forever the contemporary aesthetic of the feminine body. He is a sculptor of perfect dresses, they nearly seem a second skin. He learned to sew thanks to his sister and through the Parisian haute couture creations he managed to pay his studies at the School of Art in Tunisi. He then moved to Paris for a work experience at Guy Laroche and Christian Dior and in 1979 Thierry Mugler convinced the designer to launch a collection with his name. The success was immediate, his style conquered stars like Louise de Vilmorin, Arletty and Greta Garbo. None today is able to cut and sew leather on the body like he does. His hourglass-shaped silhouette have the waist squeezed by maxi bustier-belts, the dresses are iconic guaranteeing him a place amongst the masters of fashion.

A wonderful collection was presented in 2011 after 8 years of silence. Reserved and shy, he refuses to adapt himself to the compulsive mechanism of the seasons in fact he only presents his collection when he has something really new to present like the real artists do.

The 70 dresses of the Parisian exhibition are art works created by an extraordinary designer challenging the time with no-time.

Covent Garden, Londra 1980. Centinaia di persone affollano l’entrata del “Blitz”, il locale più cool del momento. Steve Strange, truccato e vestito in modo tanto unico da dettare nuovi trend, è alla porta come door selector, il sovrano di un regno in cui l’arte e l’originalità, la trasgressione e l’eccentricità sono le uniche chiavi d’accesso per accedere al tempio di cui lui è il sacerdote indiscusso. Il “punk” sta languendo ed i giovani sono stanchi di catene ed abiti strappati, hanno voglia di pizzi e mantelli, di merletti e di trine, ed ecco nascere l’esercito di “fashion makers” che sta dando vita al movimento “New Romantic”. Boy George, Marilyn, Princess Giulia, Martin Degville, Pinkietessa sono gli oltraggiosi rappresentanti di un “culto senza nome” che viene continuamente fotografato dai più grandi magazine. Ogni dove appaiono le foto di questi personaggi che dettano ormai le nuove regole della moda. Gareggiando tra loro non si vestono seguendo nessuna corrente, ma vivono la vita come un palcoscenico in cui i trend devono essere creati. I “nuovi romantici” hanno anche la loro musica, i Culture Club, gli Spandau Ballet ed i Visage svettano in tutte le chart e conquistano anche il difficile e conservatore mercato americano. Questa tendenza si evolve nel “New Wave” e di colpo irrompono sulla scena della musica e della moda i Pet Shop Boys, Blondie e le Bananarama. Leigh Bowery, John Galliano, Stephen Linard, Isabella Blow furono testimoni di quest’epoca che celebrava l’individualismo estetico e che in un mondo globalizzato come il nostro risponderebbero oggi, forse, semplicemente con un altro scandalo. Fino al prossimo 16 febbraio 2014 si può assistere all’esplosione della creatività della Londra anni ‘80 al “Victoria and Albert Museum”, attraverso 85 outfit che mettono in mostra gli audaci ed emozionanti look dei designer più sperimentali del decennio, tra cui Betty Jackson, Katharine Hamnett, Wendy Dagworthy e John Galliano che proprio dai club, come il mitico “Blitz”, trassero ispirazione per le loro creazioni, come spiega bene il titolo della mostra, “Club to Catwalk. London Fashion in the 1980s”: dai locali alla passerella, mentre oggi è tutto cambiato e la moda nasce dalla strada con lo street style di cui i cool hunter delle maggiori griffe catturano le tendenze più nuove e interessanti da riproporre in collezione.

Covent Garden, London 1980. Hundreds of people are just outside the entrance of the “Blitz’’, the coolest club of that moment.

Steve Strange is dressed up and made-up in a such unique way to launch new trends and he is just working outside the club as a door selector. He is the sovereign of a kingdom where art and originality, transgression and eccentricity are the only access-keys to enter in the temple where he is the undisputed king.

The “punk’’ is languishing and the youngs are tired of chains and ripped clothes. They want laces, cloaks and crochets giving birth to the “fashion makers’’ army and subsequently to the “New Romantic’’ movement. Boy George, Marylin, Princess Giulia, Martin Degville, Pinkietessa are the outrageous representatives of a “nameless cult’’ that keeps being continuously photographed by the biggest magazines. There are pictures of these characters everywhere launching new rules in the fashion world. They challenge themselves wearing clothes of no particular trend, they live life like a big stage where the trend needs to be created. The “New Romantics’’ have their music as well, the Culture Club, the Spandau Ballet and the Visage are on the top of the all charts and they conquest the difficult American market too. This trend expands in the “New Wave’’ and all of sudden the Pet Shop Boys, Blondie and Bananarama break in the music and fashion market. Leigh Bowery, John Galliano, Stephen Linard, Isabella Blow were the testimonials of that age that celebrated the aesthetic individualism.

Today it would be considered another scandal seen the globalized world we are living in. It will be possible to assist to the creativity explosion of London of the 80s at the “Victoria and Albert Museum’’ until the 16th February 2014. There will be 85 outfits in the exhibition showing the brave and exciting looks of the designers of that decade amongst which Betty Jackson, Katharine Hamnett, Wendy Dagworthy and John Galliano. They all got inspired by the “Blitz’’ to design their creations like the title of the exhibition expresses well “Club to Catwalk’’. London Fashion in the 1980s: from the clubs to the catwalks. Today everything is changed and fashion is created in the street with the street style where the cool hunters of the major griffe catch the newest and most interesting trends to be reproposed in the collections.

Quattro anni di appunti, note a margine, notti insonni passate a scrivere e fogli riempiti di ricordi. E poi un solo minuto in cui si stava per buttare via tutto. È la storia di JUST ME, autobiografia di Roberto Cavalli edita da Mondadori, assolutamente, per volontà dello stesso stilista toscano, da non scambiare per un trattato sulla moda.

Al contrario: si tratta della storia di un uomo, non di uno stilista, che ha percorso il Novecento tessendo il filo rosso che lega le ferite della Grande Guerra agli splendori del Made in Italy in una narrazione semplice e splendente dove il sudore, i successi, le sconfitte, le intuizioni, gli sgambetti e le imprese della vita scrivono, senza censure e senza stereotipi, l’avventura di uno dei protagonisti più importanti della moda contemporanea. Per il padre, avventuriero e coraggioso, onesto e votato a ideali importanti, lo stilista ha sempre avuto un mito stemperato oggi nella dolcezza di un ricordo sempre vivo. “Non avere paura”: l’autobiografia di Roberto Cavalli, si apre con la dolcezza e la drammaticità di una scena di guerra. È la frase d’addio del padre Giorgio, rapito dalla famiglia e fucilato sotto gli occhi della moglie il 4 luglio 1944 dall’esercito tedesco, nel paesino di Cavriglia. Roberto ha soltanto tre anni e l’episodio si tatuerà nella sua memoria come un monito e insieme un rimpianto. Il primo è un imperativo categorico a rischiare sempre, a chiamarsi fuori dal coro, a essere un pioniere, anche quando nessuno capisce le tue intuizioni o la tua estetica. Il secondo, invece, è una sorta di nostalgia che l’accompagnerà per tutta la vita: il desiderio di dare un volto al padre con una vita d’azione e di impresa, quasi fosse un’eredità morale. “Non chiamatemi stilista, perché non sono mai stato in grado di disegnare una silhouette”, racconta e scrive Roberto Cavalli. “Il mio talento, piuttosto, è trovare ciò che rende speciale un tessuto, un abito, una donna, pensando sempre alla moda come fosse un sogno prêt-à-porter, pronto per essere indossato”. “JUST ME”, di conseguenza, non è un elenco di modelle, successi, sfilate e collaborazioni con le star di Hollywood. È, piuttosto, l’epopea di un novello Ulisse perso nel mare del Made in Italy alla ricerca dell’eccellenza, delle persone, dei viaggi che renderanno possibile il proprio sogno: regalare alle donne un abito “in grado di cambiarti la vita, perché questo fanno gli abiti più belli: possono cambiarti la vita”.

Four years of notes, studies, sleepless nights spent to write on papers full of memories. Then only a minute when everything was about to be thrown.

It is the story of JUST ME, autobiography of Roberto Cavalli issued by Mondadori. The Tuscan stylist wanted to choose Mondadori to avoid a granted fashion work. On the contrary: it is about a man story not a stylist. A man who spent his life weaving the red thread that bonds the wounds of the Big War with the majesty of the Made in Italy. A simple and amazing story where the sweat and tears, the successes, the failures, the intuitions and life in general write a book without censures and stereotypes regarding the adventure of one of the most important protagonist of the modern fashion.

His father was a myth for him, honest and courageous. The memory of the father keeps being alive in his mind. “Don’t be afraid’’: the autobiography of Roberto Cavalli starts with the sweetness and the drama of a war scenario. It is the goodbye sentence of his father Giorgio who was kidnapped and shot by the German army under the eyes of his wife the 4th July 1944 in Cavriglia. Roberto was only 3 and this tragedy will be tattooed in his memory like a warning and a regret. Like a warning because the message is to risk always and to be always a pioneer even when nobody understands your intuitions or your aesthetic. A regret because it is like a kind of nostalgia that will accompany him for all his life: the wish is to give a face to his father by living a life full of actions like if it was a moral inheritance.

Fino al prossimo 19 gennaio 2014 al Victoria & Albert Museum di Londra, in collaborazione con il Qatar Museums Authority, sarà in cartellone la meravigliosa mostra “PEARLS”, dedicata ai più sontuosi gioielli realizzati con questo prezioso materiale naturale proveniente, poeticamente, dal mare. Non c’è stata epoca storica in cui le perle non abbiano affascinato con la loro bellezza così semplice ed essenziale, eppure così perfetta e pura. Da gioiello dei potenti, incastonato in incredibili corone imperiali o prezioso ornamento al collo delle dame più ricche e affascinanti, si è trasformato prima, grazie all’Art Nouveau parigina, in uno straordinario materiale duttile e naturale, da scolpire e trasformare, fino a diventare oggi un romantico simbolo d’amore dall’allure bon ton. The extraordinary exhibition “PEARLS” will be hosted at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London until the 19 January 2014 in collaboration with the Qatar Museums Authority. It is dedicated to the most sumptuous jewels created with the precious and natural material coming from the sea, the pearl. Pura, come il bocciolo di un fiore, pieno di vita ed energia, destinato a vivere in un eden. C’è quindi armonia di forme e proporzioni, nel punto vita segnato e la gonna ampia, per una silhouette definita ed elegante in modo classico. Seta, organza, pizzo si mescolano tra loro per un effetto sensuale. Dominanti le tonalità pastello, a volte con accenti di rosso scuro, nero e blu notte. / It is said in the Japanese tradition who frees a bird, he is freed by any earthly worry. Gulyaev interprets this “flight” towards the paradise through the image of a delicate, sensitive and gentle woman.

She is pure like a flower bud, full of energy and life that it is destined to live in an Eden. There is harmony of lines and proportions. The squeezed waist and the large skirt create an elegant classic silhouette. Silk, organza and lace are mixed for a sensual effect. The pastel tones are prevailing although sometime you can find a touch of dark red, black and night blue.
