The triple function operation mode of the Schlage SL3 allows you to set the lock to a freedom-passage mode for unrestricted access from either side of the door. A safety-privacy mode allows free escape without a key from inside, whilst restricting entry from outside. The security-deadlock mode is provided on both sides of the door ensuring deadlock security when you are away from home. The Schlage SL3 features a minimalist contemporary design with a modern streamlined Leonardo lever profile ensuring a comfortable feel and smooth operation. The SL3 incorporates a discreet key cylinder on both sides of the door providing you with the peace of mind delivered through deadlocking security. The inbuilt privacy push button allows you to easily switch between passage and privacy modes, so that you can select the level of security you need or escape in the event of an emergency. The latest in LED candles Globe technology has come a long way since the change from the old and inefficient incandescent globes. We have been through the Compact Fluro and Halogen globes which were not that much more efficient but the colour and reliability of them was very suspect. Then we had the first generation of LED globes which were either not that reliable or just did not provide the required amount of light. They also often had half the bulb covered with a shroud that hid the electronics to enable them to run and with an opaque cover that reduced the amount of light they transmitted. Then we moved onto the LED Filament globe that had a visible filament similar to the Retro incandescent globes. These globes now provided good quality light at the right colour. They had all the electronics shrunk into the base of the lamp and were available in either warm white or cool white; and best of all the problems with reliability was overcome. The one problem with these lamps was that they were not dimmable because the technology had not been developed to fit the ability to dim in the base of the lamp. The newest generation of LED Filament globes, now have the ability to be dimmed and so we have a reasonably bright globe with the right colour range, good reliability [20,000 hours life]; and they can be dimmed down with the right sort of dimmer. These globes also come from the same factory and have a consistent colour for all globes, [unlike some globes on the market that are made in many different factories and hence often different colour filaments]. These globes are available in candle shape, fancy round shape, traditional round shape and pear shape. Weathered concrete Caesarstone benchtop Oxidised steel, weathered cement and rough-hewn timber are trending strongly in kitchen design; and Caesarstone’s latest quartz surface both emulates and enhances this look. Quartzite stone kitchen benchtops with veined surfaces

Sensa by Cosentino® is a collection of 2cm and 3cm thick kitchen benchtop veined surfaces sourced from Brazil and India. A protective treatment is applied to each slab to prevent penetration by any type of liquid, which is covered by a 15-year guarantee. Cosentino recently imported two Brazilian quartzite colours to their Natural Stone range of kitchen benchtops. The two new surfaces, Taj Mahal and White Macaubas, are the first quartzites to join the Sensa by Cosentino® range. Quartzite is a very hard metamorphic rock that is composed almost entirely of quartz and is an alternative for kitchen renovations using a natural stone that is more durable and hardwearing than traditional marbles, whilst offering a similar look.
Bostik Kitchen & Bathroom Silicone is a neutral [oxime] curing sealant. It is especially formulated to resist mildew when exposed to prolonged hot and humid environments such as for bathroom renovations. It comes in two options: Translucent 300g; and White 300g. It will cover approximately 16 lineal metres per 300ml cartridge based on an average joint size of 6mm depth and 3mm width.
White Macaubas. Offers a soft palette of greys and whites marked with thin veining for a distinctive look reminiscent of marble. Taj Mahal. Has a soft cream ivory background with hints of warm brown veining.

Megatreat is a flexible material that will not crack, is super economical, easy to use on any type of horizontal or vertical surface, and can be tinted or textured to a wide range of finishes. The high-grade natural sandstone, terracotta and limestone have a unique combination of stone aggregates and an acrylic-based crosslink polymer. It has been designed for both interior and exterior applications, for vertical and horizontal surfaces, in residential as well as commercial properties. Cover that surface to give a cement rendered look. Right from the can, with no mixing
or measuring, Megatreat can be spread, brushed, bagged, trowelled or sprayed onto almost any surface. For example; pebblecrete, concrete, slate, tiles, brick, wood, plastic, steel, wrought iron, glass, asphalt, fibro, blue board, hardiflex and laminates. For example: walkways, wall, roofs, floors, bench tops, pots, pool surrounds, patios, driveways, ceramics, even styro-foam planters. These products can be coloured using a non-organic pigment or paint tint from your local paint store. These should be stirred in slowly to achieve the best effect. After application, simple finishing techniques can be used to create a wide range of natural stone and masonry results. It can be used in place of wallpaper, paint or panelling. Those pangs of guilt about washing only one or two items are no longer, thanks to Miele’s SingleWash washing machine feature that gauges water and electricity consumption as well as cycle time to meet the precise needs of washing just one or two garments. Improving swimming pool water quality at a reduced cost Energy-saving filters are being increasingly retrofitted to swimming pools during home renovations in a bid to save money and water; and to reduce power consumption. Oval marble vanity top basin Sydney-based marble bathroom design specialists Gallaria recently launched their Legno basin [$2299] for home renovators wanting to add a hint of marble to their bathroom design. Imitating the appearance of wood, the surface and shape of the Legno basin exudes luxury and could easily pass as objet d’art in the bathroom. The marble surface is carefully grounded and smoothed to leave a matte look – a traditional process often used with marble. The surface is left without shine and to the touch can be likened to the feeling of sandstone. The shape is a modern interpretation of an oval or vessel style basin.

Plank-tile range inspired by ocean piers weathered by the sea The latest decorative tile range from Beaumont Tiles is called Pier 17. It’s a plank tile range that draws inspiration from the ways the sea affects an ocean pier; and embraces the organic home renovations trend that recently featured at the Milan Furniture Fair, Cevisama and Cersaie. Pier 17 echoes the characteristics of underwater elements in a celebration of aqueous hues. As the name suggests, Pier 17 was crafted to embrace the rough, yet soothing effects of a waterfront-pier. The latest water-based timber oil from Wattyl Wattyl recently released its most advanced timber deck finish to date – Wattyl Solagard Deck and Timber Oil. This waterbased finish means a deck can be recoated and ready to walk on in just one day. Two coats will be required to complete the job: the first coat will be surface dry in 30 minutes and ready to be recoated in an hour; and the deck will be ready to take light foot traffic eight hours after application of the second coat. Benefits of Wattyl Solagard Deck and Timber Oil include its resistance to UV light, dirt, mould and moisture. Being low odour and water based, its use has less impact on humans, pets and the environment. In addition, it is durable and able to withstand the toughest of daily foot traffic. Clean up is as easy as application – just wash up in cold water, away from drains. It is available from Mitre 10 and Home Timber & Hardware stores in three colours – Natural, Merbau and Jarrah; in four and ten litre cans.

It can be used on: floor tiles; wall tiles; fully immersed or always wet tiles such as in pools, showers and kitchen design; where hygiene and chemical resistance is critical; and in areas subjected to harsh cleaning or other chemicals. It is compatible with all wall tiles and floor tiles [including moisture sensitive]; it is easy to apply and clean-up; colour consistent [colour fully pre-mixed with resin]; and highly stain-resistant and non-efflorescing.
