The Glass Brick Company can now install your glass brick window with a vent window allowing for free air flow. Glass Brick Vent Windows are available in different sizes and are manufactured to the modular sizes of the glass blocks. Tri-band Wi-Fi system Linksys® recently developed Velop, a Tri-Band modular Wi-Fi system that provides fast, reliable Wi-Fi to the edge of a home network. Simple to install and easy to use, each “node” is a powerful TriBand device that serves as a router, range extender, access point, and bridge; and is available in 3-pack, 2-pack and 1-pack options. After setup is complete, the Linksys app serves as your Wi-Fi management tool with features such as guest access, parental controls, and device prioritisation. Each node stands just 18cm in height, with a small footprint. The vertical orientation improves Wi-Fi performance in both single and multi-storey homes. To eliminate cable clutter, the base features a cavity where power and Ethernet ports are hidden; plus a small notch with rubber tabs to organize cables. Each node is built to connect with the others over Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet if present. The nodes have the ability to choose the best path to route data; and in the event any node loses connection, the remaining nodes will self-heal and re-establish Internet connection through other nodes. Designer Joel Roberts from Industrial Designer in Melbourne highlights a curvature that acts as the centrepiece in the bathroom space. The Goddess bath [$9,999] is designed with greater depth for full body immersion. Architect and Designer Grant Amon of Grant Amon Architects aims to manipulate space by crafting unusual, eyecatching objects such as this striking bath. The Miele Pearl headroom rangehood [DA 6996 W PEARL $4,999] has dimmable atmospheric lighting. Characteristic of headroom rangehoods is the pitch of the canopy, allowing tall people plenty of room to peer down into pots and pans. The Miele Pearl has a 90cm canopy comprising a bowed sheet of toughened safety glass in a shade of white to match the white on Miele built-in appliances. Technologically, Miele’s Eco motor is powerful and energy-efficient; and the LED down-lighting strip is characterised by low consumption. This hood goes about its work quietly and can be operated in vented or recirculation mode. Miele’s DGM 6401 and DGM 6800 combination Steam Cooker/ Microwave Ovens in steam-mode generate steam from its 3.3 kW external generator which is then pumped through eight steam inlet ports in the rear panel. Induction cooktop that automatically regulates the power Miele’s latest TempControl induction cooktops [$3999] manage the issue of the oft-forgotten fact that the temperature in a pan will continue to rise during cooking even if the heat output from the cooktop remains constant. If the heat isn’t turned down in time food can overcook or burn. But with the Miele TempControl units, sensors embedded in its ceramic screen detect the characteristics of the material and the temperature of the pan. Power is accordingly regulated automatically to ensure that the food being cooked is subjected to a uniform temperature, irrespective of whether the pan lid is fitted or not. You simply select one of three power ranges. Once the relevant temperature for a selected range is reached, a signal sounds. This ensures that a steak, for example, can be placed into the pan at the right temperature. Ideal for frying eggs, fish and most deep-frozen products, Range-1 keeps the temperature at a constant 160°C. Steak is best fried on Range-2 at a temperature of 200°C. Range-3 at 220°C is recommended for wok cooking, pancakes or whenever a higher temperature is required.

Protecting floors from furniture-scratches with felt pads Madico® Feltac® floor and surface protection products are marketed by Master Distributors, available at Bunnings and Officeworks. The range comprises: Feltac® Self-Adhesive Pads can be used with timber, metal or plastic-plug ended chairs or table legs. Feltac® Self-Adhesive Pads with VELCRO® fasteners are recommended for floors that will cause more wear and tear to adhesive pads such as coarse ceramic tiles. VELCRO® fasteners allow for pads to be easily replaced as soon as they wear out. The adhesive base remains attached to the chair or table leg while you change-over the worn out pad. These self-adhesive pads can be used with timber, metal or plastic-plug ended chairs or table legs. Feltac® Screw-In Pads are designed for use with hardwood chairs or table legs; also tables and chairs that don’t have enough space for standard felt pads. Renovation of an historic Melbourne pub with timber products With roots deeply entrenched in the local community, iconic Fitzroy pub The Rose recently underwent a makeover, transforming it into a contemporary, stylish and welcoming space. Melbourne-based Harrison Interiors designed a stunning interior honouring the pub’s proud past. The building’s original features were maintained with existing brick walls sandblasted and concrete floors polished to showcase its rich character. Complementing the industrial-style materials and original features, Big River Armourpanel was utilised in the overall renovation. A combination of solid timber and plywood was used to create a contemporary take on a traditional public bar with the added detailing of routed patterns on inset plywood panels. Central to the new layout is the striking main bar made with locally sourced Blackbutt timber and Big River Armourpanel plywood. Checkerboard tiling borders the bar, juxtaposed neatly against polished raw concrete flooring; while spotted fabric graces the upholstery. The dining area at the rear is finished with a tan banquette and a diamond-patterned routed plywood wall. This bold combination of brick, timber and steel with black highlights creates a warm, earthy and unpretentious interior, breathing new life into a popular, relaxed and modest watering-hole. Upstairs the Harry & Frankie restaurant benefits from the building’s classic decorative detailing and arched windows, which inspired a pared-back palette of recycled timber, black steel and honed stone. An Art Deco-inspired leadlight window welcomes diners and subtly heralds the venue’s modern reconfiguration. Geometric elements continuing the contemporary update are replicated throughout the space in custom joinery, lighting and bar cladding.

Marmox boards are the perfect complement to any floor heating system, when Marmox boards are installed on top of concrete or timber flooring it will act as high quality tile backer boards minimizing heat loss in the slab, which will lead to 50% reduction in heat up time, cutting running cost, and achieving higher temperatures.
