Oha! Kein roter Teppich, keine Tribüne mit Popo-Polsterkissen. Nicht hier. Hier ist man bodenständiger: Beim Weißbier sieht man Hunden zu, die selbständig auf dem Boden laufen statt in Täschchen zu sitzen. Wir sind nicht bei Classic Days oder sonstigen, nicht minder noblen Concorsos. Wir sind auch nicht auf der Maximilianstraße in München, sondern in Rottach-Eggern am Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt. Mitten in der Touristen-Hochburg direkt am Tegernsee gelegen. Eine Bummelmeile mit unzähligen Geschäften, Cafés und Luxushotels. Ein ungewöhnlicher Ort für ein Oldtimer-Treffen? Vielleicht ist es genau das, was ihn perfekt dafür macht.

Oh my! No red carpet, no grandstand with upholstered seating cushions. Not here. The people are more down to earth here. While drinking a wheat beer, you can see dogs running around on their own instead of sitting in small bags. We are not, as is normal, at Classic Days and not at other no less posh concourses. We are also not in Maximillianstrasse in Munich, but in Rottach-Eggern at Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt. Located directly on Lake Tegernsee in the middle of the tourist stronghold. A promenade containing countless shops, cafés and a luxury hotel. An unusual place for a historic and classic car meeting? Perhaps that's precisely what makes it so special.

DIE FASZINATION DER SCHONSTEN OLDTIMER THE FASCINATION OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL HISTORIC AND CLASSIC CARS
m Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt, idyllisch am Tegernsee gelegen, glänzten im September nicht nur die fünf Sterne am Eingang des Hotels, sondern auch die schönsten Kostbarkeiten aus den großen Epochen der Automobilgeschichte. Der diesjährige Concours d'Élégance Tegernsee war ein Schönheitswettbewerb für historische Automobile, die um die Gunst von Jury und Publikum wetteiferten. Bei dieser offiziellen FIVA-A-Veranstaltung gab es die schönsten Fahrzeuge ihrer Art zu sehen und zu bewundern – mit Blick auf den See und die Berge, vor denen die historischen Karossen kontrastreich mit den Pokalen um die Wette funkelten. Hier, am Ufer des Tegernsee haben sich im Spätsommer genussfreudige Menschen mit seltenen Fahrzeugen getroffen: Gerade in Corona-Zeiten war diese Veranstaltung nicht nur für Liebhaber von Oldtimern ein Höhepunkt im Terminkalender. Die Anzahl der teilnehmenden Fahrzeuge ist auf 60 Automobile aller Marken und Typen limitiert. Die Auszeichnungen sind begehrt und die Reglements streng. Der nächste Concours d'Élégance Tegernsee findet vom 10.-12. September 2021 statt.
I A t Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt, which has an idyllic location on Lake Tegernsee, the most beautiful treasures from the grand eras of automobile history could be seen gleaming along with the five stars at the hotel entrance. This year’s Concours d’Élégance Tegernsee was a beauty contest for historic automobiles which vied for the attention of the jury and the general public. In this official FIVA-A event the most beautiful vehicles of their kind could be seen and admired – with a view of the lake and the mountains against which the historic vehicles competed in rich contrast with the cups. Connoisseurs with rare vehicles met here in late summer on the banks of Lake Tegernsee: especially during the corona pandemic, this event marked a highlight in the diary not only for historic and classic car enthusiasts. The number of participating vehicles is limited to 60 cars of all brands and types. The prizes are highly coveted and the regulations are strict. The next Concours d’Élégance Tegernsee will be held from 10-12 September 2021.

Anlässlich des Concours d’Élégance Tegernsee 2020 stand auch eine besondere Ausfahrt zu HK-ENGINEERING im oberbayerischen Polling im Roadbook. Hier waren Gäste und Teilnehmer des Concours zu Besuch bei Hans Kleissl – dem „König der Flügeltürer“, wie ihn jüngst Classic Driver beschrieben hat. Das im achten Jahrhundert gegründete Kloster Polling im oberbayerischen Landkreis Weilheim-Schongau verbreitet die Atmosphäre eines kleinen Dorfes. Nichts deutet darauf hin, dass sich im Klosterhof mit HK-ENGINEERING das Mekka für alle Anbeter des Mercedes-Benz 300 SL „Flügeltürers“ verbirgt. Hans Kleissl benötigte ein ganzes Jahrzehnt, um in den 1980er-Jahren einen Teil der historischen Wirtschaftsgebäude für seine Firma neu herzurichten und parallel den Ruf als Autorität in Sachen SL zu erlangen. Wie kaum ein anderer verfügt er über einen derartigen Fundus an Wissen, Erfahrung und Leidenschaft: Der Firmeninhaber selbst ist Liebhaber klassischer Automobile und hat als Sammler den Weg in die Szene und damit auch in die Werkstatt gefunden. „Er ist einer von uns“, lautet im liebevoll restaurierten Klosterhof fast unisono das Urteil seiner Kunden über den Chef. Guests and participants in the Concours d’Élégance Tegernsee paid a visit here to Hans Kleissl, the king of gull-wing cars, as he was recently dubbed by the magazine Classicdriver. Founded in the 8th century, Polling Monastery in the Upper Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau exudes the atmosphere of a small village. There is nothing to indicate that the monastery courtyard is home to HK Engineering, the mecca for all admirers of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL “gull-wing”. Hans Kleissl took an entire decade to renovate part of the historic working quarters in the 1980s for his new company and also acquire the reputation as an authority on SL cars. More than almost anyone else, he has such a wide pool of knowledge, experience and passion. That’s because the company owner himself is a lover of classic cars. He found his way into the scene and therefore also into the workshop as a collector. “He is one of us,” is the almost unanimous opinion of his customers regarding the boss in the lovingly restored monastery courtyard.

Einen ganzen Tag lang wurden die Klassiker der Öffentlichkeit präsentiert und von einem ausgewiesenen Fahrzeugexperten vorgestellt. Sammlerobjekte, wertvolle Ikonen und faszinierende Sportwagen: Das Auto als Kulturgut – nie konnte man schönere Fahrzeuge bestaunen. The classic cars were presented to the general public throughout the day and introduced by an experienced vehicle expert. Collectors’ items, valuable icons and fascinating sports cars: the car as a cultural asset – never before could more beautiful cars be admired. The classic cars are works of art, cultural assets and vehicles together, and convey the lifestyle of an epoch in which automobiles were more than just a means of transport.

Schloss Dennenlohe

Der Schauplatz des Oldtimertreffens ist ein im 18. Jahrhundert erbautes Schloss, das nach dem Dennenloher See benannt wurde. 1734 mit allen seinen Nebengebäuden erbaut, gilt das Schloss Dennenlohe als eines der schönsten Barockensembles in Bayern und wird von einem 25 Hektar großen Landschaftsgarten umgeben. Ein echter Geheim-Tipp für ein sommerliches Oldtimer-Stelldichein. Abseits der üblichen Oldtimertouren spürt man sie hier noch hautnah, die Lust am entspannten Zusammenkommen.
