Versace opens a new store on Passeig de Gracia In 2011, the company founded by Gianni Versace launched a new international expansion plan. The Italian company returns to Barcelona and invests three million euros to restart its expansion on the Spanish territory. In 2005, a unique Versace store on Passeig de Gracia, Catalunia, was closed. So too was a similar outlet in Madrid on Ortega y Gasset. At the end of this year Versace will open its store that has a shop floor of 500 square metres. It will be located at 85 Passeig de Gracia number 85. The daughter of a famous Russian politician, the former editor of special projects, the fashion columnist of the Russian version of Harper’s Bazaar, the author of columns in Vogue and Glamour, a frequent guest at international fashion shows and a true Russian beauty, Miroslava Duma, has become just as popular in the West as she is in Russia. This is largely due to her innate sense of style, lack of fear to take risks, as well as a desire to experiment and combine the incongruous. The ‘Russian It-Girl’ seems to be a befitting title. In Russia people are either trying to model themselves on her or harshly criticize her. Perhaps deservedly?

Miroslava says that she has “been obsessed with fashion for as long as she can remember.” Always experimenting with clothes, altering and redesigning them.

She has a unique and bright journalistic style, and combines this

with a knack of always get a first look at new collections. High heels and platforms have been her trusty companions since she was just 18.

As for accessories she prefers massive necklaces and classic bags by Hermes. However, it is coats that are Miroslava’s real fetish: short, long, classic, flared or straight, her wardrobe is full of them.

Miroslava boldly combines fabrics and textures, but also often appears in classical attire. Most frequently the It-Girl chooses A-line skirts above the knee. Another favorite of Duma’s is the oversized jacket, which creates a multilayered effect and a certain lightness.

he Spanish model, Jon Kortajarena, originally from Bilbao, has stolen the hearts of millions of girls and transformed himself into every fashion designer’s blue-eyed boy.

As an 18-year old Kortajarena became the face of the spring-summer campaign of the Just Cavalli line. Since then he has appeared on a number of other catwalks, participating in shows for Emporio Armani and John Galliano, as well as starring in adverts for Versace.

His fame has spread like wildfire.

Jon began to work with the likes of famous brands Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Salvatore Ferragamo, and in 2007 he became a leading Guess model.

In 2009, Forbes magazine named Jon № 8 in the list of most successful male models in the world, and the German magazine GQ called him ‘model of the year’. However, his successes don’t

stop there and this year the American Vogue called him the fourth best male model in the history of fashion.

What is Kortajarena’s secret to success? The classic looks are always in fashion and in Jon’s eyes he owes much of his own success to his more classical features.

Kortajarena can deal with any designers’ style — everything seems to suit him. With regards to Jon’s everyday style, it can be concisely described with the phrase ‘simple and elegant’. Minimal pomp — maximum comfort.

Kortajarena is a big fan of tight jeans and jackets. The look is

sloppy. Disheveled hair and twoday stubble is an unerring part of Jon’s style. If there were one man capable of establishing trends in hairstyle, it would undoubtedly be Kortajarena. Besides his beard, another of his hallmarks are his disheveled bangs, which only his mother is allowed to cut.

on Kortajarena es un modelo español originario de Bilbao, quien rápidamente conquistó no solo los corazones de millones de mujeres, sino que también se convirtió en un favorito de los diseñadores de moda.

En 2004, Kortajarena de 18 años se convirtió en el rostro de la campaña de primavera-verano de la línea Just Cavalli, después de la cual empezó a aparecer en otras pasarelas, participando en los desfiles de Emporio Armani y John Galliano, además de protagonizar un anuncio para Versace. Su fama se extendió como la pólvora. Jon comenzó a colaborar con marcas tan célebres como Chanel, Dolce&Gabbana y Salvatore Ferragamo, y en 2007 se convirtió en el principal modelo de la casa Guess.

En 2009, la revista ‘Forbes’ situó a Jon en el 8.º puesto de su lista de modelos masculinos más exitosos del mundo, y la alemana ‘GQ’ lo proclamó modelo del año. Desde entonces la fama

Kortajarena es un firme partidario de las americanas y los tejanos estrechos y desgastados. El aspecto lo complementa un polo de Lacoste y unas zapatillas cómodas. Camisas blancas y jerséis negros; de los accesorios prefiere los fulares. Para los eventos formales, las presentaciones y las alfombras rojas, el modelo opta por unos sofisticados pantalones, combinados con camisas y

Where do you find inspiration?

In everything that is connected with the Spanish culture. It’s our identity that makes us unique and distinguishes us from the rest. I believe this is our most valuable asset and I try to bring it out in my work.

What do you think about the fashion industry of today?

The fashion industry is constantly evolving. This is a very important time that’s full of challenges.

In your mind, are there enough prospects for someone making their first steps in the world of fashion?

Prospects and opportunities come with experience in the industry, but sometimes I believe it’s enough to have talent and energy to create wonderful things.

What does it mean to dress in the style of Pedro del Hierro Madrid?

We are designing clothes for a calm, but dedicated woman. For women comfortable in their own skin. Women who are sensitive, exacting and seductive. A woman who considers herself as a source of inspiration and her own muse.

Since September 2012 you have been the creative director of Pedro del Hierro Madrid ... What does this mean for you?

For me, it’s a personal challenge on many levels. I had been at the head of my own brand for 12 years, but this project had special appeal for me. It represents an opportunity for me to develop my work and test myself professionally. The global ambitions of a brand with real Spanish character is also a very exciting prospect.

Desde septiembre de 2012 es la directora creativa de la línea Pedro del Hierro Madrid… ¿Qué significa esto para usted?

Para mí se trata de un reto personal a todos los niveles. Ya había tenido marca propia durante doce años, pero este proyecto tiene una envergadura y un músculo muy especiales. El reposicionamiento a nivel mundial de una marca de carácter español es un viaje apasionante. ¿Cuál es la mayor particularidad de la línea Pedro del Hierro Madrid?

Es una casa que sumerge sus raíces en un amor por la costura y el trabajo bien hecho, y que tiene muy presente las necesidades de una mujer real de hoy en día. ¿Cuál es su fuente de inspiración?

Me inspiro, para Pedro del Hierro Madrid en todo lo que tiene que

ver con nuestra cultura. Nuestra identidad nos singulariza, y es lo que realmente podemos exportar al mundo.

En su opinión, ¿en qué situación se encuentra la industria de la moda hoy en día?

La industria de la moda está en constante evolución. Es un momento vigoroso, y lleno de retos. ¿Cree que los que están empezando en el mundo de la moda tienen alguna perspectiva?

La experiencia te da la perspectiva; pero para crear cosas hermosas a veces basta con tener talento y energía. ¿Cómo es vestirse al estilo de Pedro del Hierro Madrid?

Diseñamos para una mujer serena y decidida. Una mujer con una gran confianza en su propia naturaleza. Una mujer sensible, exigente y con una naturalidad que seduce. Una mujer que se ve a sí misma como su propia fuente de inspiración, como su única musa.

Vacheron Constantin, leads the prestigious brand that has spent lots of years working on watchmaking. We had the opportunity to talk with him about the 260 years of the brand´s history, its prospects and its special relationship with the Russian market

How has 2014 been for Vacheron Constantin?

After attending the international watchmaking exhibition, we can say without doubt that things in the luxury industry are going really well. Last year was an exciting and intense year for Vacheron Constantin in terms of investment, development and promotion of the brand: the opening of several ‘boutiques’ (Paris, London, Los Angeles, Hanoi, Shanghai, Seoul and Hawaii), the inauguration of the new manufacturing of Vallée de Joux components, and the integration with our great partner, Aubert Complications, SA, a company that produces parts, specifically ordered to achieve the demanding criteria of the Geneva Seal.

For the coming years, we have an extensive range of projects, including the expansion of our manufacturing in Plan-les-Ouates (Switzerland), whose completion is scheduled for the beginning of 2015, and also the celebration of 260 years of Vacheron Con-

stantin is planned. All these investments and development activities are proof of our faith and confidence in the future.

What is the key to success of Vacheron Constantin?

Success is determined by many different factors, but now I am thinking about one issue: with nearly 260 years of uninterrupted history, Vacheron Constantin continues to create wonderful timepieces, and is always committed to excellence, as our motto says: “To do it better is possible, and this is always possible.” That is the key to our success.

How would you sum up the 260 years activity of Vacheron Constantin?

Vacheron Constantin, with its nearly 260 years of uninterrupted history, continues to create the masterpieces of watchmaking, in favour of excellence. The company embodies the watchmaking tradi-

tion throughout its history, the longest of all existing watchmaking houses. Our history is marked by milestones that have enabled constant development of the manufacturing. The main aim of the company has always been to achieve a high quality of work by the entire staff of master-watchmakers and craftsmen, and to transfer the experience to new generations, reflecting the foundation of JeanMarc Vacheron, who was committed to transmitting all the knowledge to his best apprentice.

Please tell us about your favourite watch...

I have many favourites! The ultra-flat, 1731 calibre Patrimony Contemporaine is attractive to me because of its perfect balance between technical excellence and elegant aesthetics. This model reflects who we are: elegance and subtlety. In the case of women´s watches, I would prefer the model presented this year in Geneva and inspired by the Ottoman architecture: the Métiers d’Art ‘Fabuleux ornements’. Juan Carlos Torres, the CEO of

Juan Carlos is originally from Barcelona, his father is Catalan and his mother is native Cuban. He is passionate about cars and mountain sports, and the majority of his life he has lived in Switzerland, where he discovered the world of watches. In 1981 J.C. Torres joined the Vacheron Constantin company, which has turned out to be a home for him for the past three decades. He was working conscientiously on multi-tasking, and was always taking on new responsibilities before being named the ‘CEO’ in 2005, which coincided with the 250th anniversary of the brand.

Este barcelonés de padre catalán y madre cubana, y apasionado de los coches y los deportes de montaña ha vivido casi toda su vida en Suiza, donde pronto descubrió la relojería. En 1981 ingresó en la que ha sido su casa durante las últimas tres décadas, Vacheron Constantin. Allí fue realizando múltiples tareas y adquiriendo nuevas responsabilidades hasta ser nombrado CEO en 2005, coincidiendo con el 250 aniversario de la marca. ¿Cómo se presenta el 2014 para Vacheron Constantin?

Después de asistir al Salón podemos decir que la industria del lujo va bien. El año pasado fue para Vacheron Constantin un año apasionante en términos de inversión y desarrollo, con la apertura de varias boutiques (en París, Londres, Los Ángeles, Hanói, Shanghái, Hawái y Seúl), la inauguración de la nueva manufactura de componentes de calibres del Vallée de Joux, así como la integración de nuestro gran socio Aubert Complications, S. A., una compañía que produce piezas específicamente pedidas para cumplir con los exigentes criterios del Punzón de Ginebra.

Para los años venideros, tenemos un extenso programa de proyectos, como la ampliación de nuestra manufactura en Plan-les-Ouates (Suiza), cuya finalización está programada para principios de 2015, y también la celebración de los 260 años de Vacheron Constantin. Todas estas inversiones y actividades son prueba de la confianza que tenemos en el futuro. ¿Cuál es la clave del éxito de Vacheron Constantin?

El éxito viene dado por factores muy diversos, pero el que ahora mismo viene a mi cabeza es el hecho de que con casi 260 años de historia ininterrumpida, Vacheron Constantin sigue creando maravillosos guardatiempos, siempre en pro de la excelencia, tal y como reza nuestro lema: “Hacerlo mejor es posible, y esto es siempre posible”. Lo cual ya es un éxito.

After selecting the material, the client only needs to worry about how to express and convey their wishes and ideas for a dream suit to the designer. The suit can be customized up to the smallest detail: from the cut, to the buttons, lapels, linings, and embroidery.

- What is the production process of a bespoke product?

We can create a suit in which every detail is an exclusive one, a suit which is customized from cut to buttons, lapels and lining. Since the foundation of JM Blasi´s tailor shop, high quality products help it to supply the clients with an excellent service, and since that time, the tailor´s adheres to certain principles in the design and manufacturing of exclusive clothing: high quality materials, personalized service and the exceptional result.

Even amongst the vast range of private sailing vessels which travel the world’s seas, very few can boast of the technical capacities and navigational features belonging to these four yachts. Each model is a wonder in itself. They are in their very essence unique and embody all the virtues of their respective shipyards: the legendary Finnish shipyard Nautor’s Swan, the South African Southern Wind, and the 2 Dutch yards Vitters and Claasen. They have crafted 4 fine ships that capture the gaze and imagination of any spectator fortunate enough to glimpse them.

sailing boats Lionheart: the maritime legend At 44 metres in length, Lionheart is the largest of the iconic and majestic yachts that competed at the America’s Cup in the 1930’s.

With a mast of 50 metres, sails of 839 square metres, two cabins and two covered cockpits the ship never fails to steal the limelight. Lionheart, when used as a luxury yacht, is able to accommodate eight guests and eight qualified crew (the number of passengers rising to twenty during a regatta). The masters of Claasen, the Dutch shipyard, created the interior design with exceptional woodwork that embodies the golden age of sailing.

Thalima: the modern cruising yacht This 33-metre long vessel from the prestigious South African shipyard, Southern Wind, is an eloquent example of a super yacht. It combines advanced ship-designing techniques with style and elegance. Constructed of carbon fibre, aluminium and other custom and state of the art materials; Bruce Farr, the designer of the vessel, has constructed an extremely lightweight sailboat. It flies a sail of 529-square-metres, which has given the ship its racing capabilities and its blistering pace. The exceptional interior of the vessel was created by Milanese

The two masts covered by carbon fibre are equipped with 1,690 square metres of sails and a spanker sail furling system. The vessel offers a variety of different quarters, most

The interior design is a charming tribute to maritime spirit. There is also an elevator which lifts 2 passengers up the mainmast and is a noteworthy feature providing spectacular 360 degree views.

The elegant 54-metre vessel possesses superb technical equipment and has an engine room, a soundproofed control post, generators, water softeners, and is fully air-conditioned. It has sufficient navigational capacity to easily transport its owner to any place in the world without any outside assistance.

The interior styling differs from the traditional character of the Nautor’s Swan shipyard and offers an open and bright space with impeccable carpentry, modern style and spacious rooms.

In short, it is an ambitious and powerful racing yacht, suitable for those who admire its perfection and are willing to pay the price tag.

Marie: the classic modern beauty Marie is a classic ‘ketch’ (two-masted sailing vessel), built by the Dutch shipyard Vitters. The shipyard stands as living proof that success can be met when combining classic lines with seafaring traditions; modern per-

Swan 80: sporting elegance The Finnish shipyard Nautor’ Swan, which now has Italian owners, has consistently built safe, fast and solid sailing vessels. As such, it has secured itself as one of the most prestigious shipyards in the world. The Swan 80 is an expression of luxurious lifestyle, a truly fashionable maxi-cruiser. It has a deckhouse located on a flush deck with a small wheelhouse alongside a large cockpit, all on the same level.

new sharp design features increased efficiency and an extensive set of standard options as its defining characteristics.

As an all terrain sports car, it is categorized as a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). The Cayenne covers all bases and it is meticulously detailed: it offers comfortable seating for five and a wide array of custom features; it has a spacious cabin and gives its owner an unforgettable ride. Its high performance and attractive design are typical of a Porsche automobile.

The new generation of the Cayenne is being launched in five models: Cayenne S, Cayenne Turbo, Cayenne Diesel, Cayenne S Diesel and the world premiere of the Cayenne S E-Hybrid, which is the first plug-in hybrid in the premium SUV category. This model, together with Panamera S E-Hybrid and the 918 Spyder, currently make Porsche the only car manufacturer in the world that offers three plug-in hybrid models. Compared to their predecessors, the new Cayenne models are notable for both improved performance and fuel economy. Another highlight is the entirely new 3.6 litre twin-turbo V6 engine for the Cayenne S, developed by Porsche. For this latest version, Porsche designers have given the Cayenne an even sharper look reflected in precise lines and purposefully curved edges, which contribute to the better reflection of light. The design of the front of the car is completely new and gives it an air of elegance and sophistication. Even the air blades, used to cool the air reaching the motor, have been redesigned to be more efficient and better suit the aesthetic of the car.

At first glance, the new Cayenne can clearly be identified as a Porsche by its characteristic BiXenon headlights. These come as standard on the S models, along with the trademark ¨hovering¨ four-point LED lights which run during daylight hours. On the top of the range model, the Cayenne Turbo, the driver will enjoy as standard the high performance LED light of

the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS).

What separates the Cayenne S E-Hybrid from the pack are its incredible technical advancements. The new model has a lithium-ion traction battery with a capacity of 10.8 kWh, which enables totally electric-powered driving from 18 to 36 kilometers, depending on driving style and the route. The power of the electric motor was more than doubled from 47 hp to 95 hp. It boasts power of 416 hp at 5,500 rpm, and torque of 590 Nm from between 1,250 and 4,000 rpm. This enables driving performance on the same level as a sports car: 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 243 km/h (125 km/h on the electric power setting).

The previous power capacity of 83 hp per litre was increased to 117 hp (representing a gain of around 40 percent). With its standard eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission, the Cayenne S accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds (5.4 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package) – 0.4 seconds faster than the previous Cayenne S. The vehicle’s top speed is 259 km/h.

The Cayenne Turbo is characterized by a high level of performance, powerful forward thrust and an ability to tackle any driving situation.

Its 4.8 litre engine, eight-cylinders and twinturbochargers give it an impressive 520 hp at 6,000 rpm; its torque is 750 Nm from 2,250 to 4,000 rpm. This lets the Cayenne Turbo accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds (4.4 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package), with a top speed of 279 km/h. The fuel consumption is between 11.5 and 11.2 l/100 km (267-261 g / km CO2).

The Cayenne Diesel combines sportiness with improved fuel efficiency. The 3.0 litre turbocharged V6 engine in the Cayenne Diesel produces 262 hp at 4,000 rpm and has fuel consumption of between 6.8 and 6.6l/100 km (179-173g/km CO2). With its SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system, the vehicle fully complies with the standard emissions of EU6. The torque of 580 Nm from 1,750 to 2,500 rpm lets the car accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.3 seconds (7.2 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package), and reaches a top speed of 221 km/h. The 4.2 litre V8 motor of the Cayenne S Diesel has a capacity of 385 hp at 3,750 rpm, and torque of 850 Nm at 2,000-2,750 rpm. The car accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds (5.3 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package). Barcelona is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, located on the Mediterranean coast. Its unique architecture is the landmark of the city and, moreover, its prolific mild climate, sandy beaches, the high-level infrastructure and the hospitality of the local people make Barcelona a perfect place to live, relax and have holidays.

The city offers a broad range of residential properties, as they say, for every taste and budget. Frequently, Russian buyers have doubts about the selection of the right area and places that are most appropriate for their tastes and preferences. In order to assist the Russian investor in these types of issues, we publish a review in which the best places to buy real estate in Barcelona are discussed.

The city is divided into 10 districts, each of them includes several neighbourhoods, and the city consists of 73 neighbourhoods in all.

In May of this year, according to the statistics of one of the major Spanish real estate portals, www.fotocasa.es, the average cost of a second home in Barcelona is 3,195 euros per m2.

In this article, we will talk about the most prestigious areas of the city: Pedralbes, Sarrià, and Sant Gervasi-Bonanova.

1. Pedralbes This elite residential quarter is located in the western part of the city, between the mountains of Collserola and Diagonal Avenue, and belongs to the area called Les Corts. The townhouses and luxury housing complexes predominate in this area.

2. The district of Sarria - Sant Gervasi Sarrià - Sant Gervasi is a neighbourhood of Barcelona, located in the most western part of the city. On one side it is adjacent to Diagonal Avenue, and on the other, it extends beyond the Tibidabo mountain, and also includes a part of the Collserola mountain range. The population of Sarrià - Sant Gervasi is over 140 thousand inhabitants, but the neighbourhood still holds the last place in population density in the city.

el 29 de octubre al 2 de noviembre en el recinto ferial Fira de Barcelona se celebró la 18.ª edición del Salón Inmobiliario Barcelona Meeting Point (BMP). Revista Rusa colaboró en la difusión de este evento.

A la mayor exposición inmobiliaria de España asistieron los principales profesionales del sector, grandes inversores, expertos financieros y banqueros de todo el mundo. BMP tuvo un gran éxito, tanto en términos de asistencia como en número de contratos acordados, mostrando de este modo un creciente interés por parte de inversores en adquirir propiedades españolas. En este simposio internacional se presentaron 265 empresas procedentes de 23 países y 38 fondos de inversión internacionales. Se calcula que al evento asistieron cerca de 2.500 personas, entre las cuales cabe señalar a personajes

como el alcalde de Barcelona Xavier Trias y distintos representantes de la élite empresarial.

La participación de los principales fondos de inversión internacionales y europeos, así como de empresas rusas y chinas fueron la clave del éxito de la feria. En la exposición Russian Meeting Point, celebrada en los marcos de BMP, se presentaron inversores rusos, agentes inmobiliarios y particulares.

Todos los participantes del evento pudieron entablar unas buenas relaciones de negocio y conocer las tendencias y perspectivas de desarrollo del mercado inmobiliario.

Los datos de la exposición todavía están disponible en forma de estadística, sin embargo, según las declaraciones del presidente de BMP Enrique Lacalle, se han establecido más contactos y concluido más acuerdos que en años anteriores.

The oficial statistics is not introduced yet, but according to BMP president Enrique Lacalle, this year much more contacts were signed comparing with previous years.

Catalan painter, sculptor, engraver and ceramicist, Joan Miró i Ferrat, is the pride of Barcelona. Joan Miró is considered to be one of the leading exponents of surrealism. In his work Miró deconstructs the world into universal symbols.

He creates his own universal aesthetics by dint of primary images and colors. His planets, constellations of stars and ‘Ladders of Escape’ are immersed in a cosmic fantasy.

The creativity and life of Joan Miró are inextricably linked with Catalonia. He was born to a privileged and wealthy family on 20th April 1893 in Barcelona. In spite of his artistic talent, Joan’s father preferred he enter business school in order “to become a somebody in life.” Miró was studying commerce, as well as, attending classes at the famous Academy of Arts “La Escuela de la Lonja”, a school previously attended

by Picasso. Joan also studied in the School of Fine Arts and the Academy of Gali, both in Barcelona.

In 1918, the artist held his first solo exhibition at the Gallery Dalmau. The early art of Miró was

influenced by Fauvism, Cubism and the Catalan Frescoes of the Roman epoch. On moving to Paris he quickly made acquaintances with Pablo Picasso and Andre Masson.

As a result of his time in Paris, Miró’s work steadily became more and more surreal. In numerous interviews and letters Miró had expressed a desire to abandon established conven-

1953 saw the initiation of a creative partnership between Joan Miró and Josep Llorens Artigas.

In Galifa, a small village situated in the Catalan mountains, two artists, inspired by nature’s wonder and elated with new found artistic freedom, created a number of ceramic works. In 1956, the pair presented a collection of 32 pieces at an exhibition in the Mae Gallery in Paris. The exhibition was met with great success.

In 1955, the artist was commissioned to paint the walls of the Paris office of UNESCO. He decided to work together with Artigas, again using ceramics. The result was the amazing “Sun and Moon” and its creators were awarded the Grand Prix of the Guggenheim Foundation. The mosaics that covered the UNESCO building served as prototypes for a number of subsequent works, including the ceramic murals at the airport of Barcelona (1970) and the

Palace of Congresses in Madrid (1980).

By the end of 60’s and in the early 70’s, Miró became fascinated by sculpture and was constantly striving to open new avenues to express himself. Size of sculpture and new materials presented new obstacles for him, and in playing with both these aspects he created a variety of splendid works. Dona i ocell (“Woman and Bird”) is the most recent sculptural work of Miró in Barcelona, which was made in collaboration with Joan Gardy Artigas and was unveiled in 1983. This creation, 22 meters in height, is located in the park of Joan Miró. It represents the feminine form wearing a hat, a top of which sits a bird. The surface of the sculpture is covered with red, yellow, green, and blue ceramics (Miró’s favorite colors).

oan Miró i Ferrà (1893-1983), el orgullo de Barcelona: pintor, escultor, grabador y ceramista catalán. Joan Miró es considerado uno de los máximos representantes del surrealismo.

En sus obras, Miró, como un alquimista, distribuye el mundo en símbolos universales.

Mediante imágenes primarias y colores, crea su estética universal. Sus planetas, constelaciones y escaleras para la fuga sumergen en una fantasía cósmica.

La creatividad y la vida de Joan Miró están inseparablemente unidas a Cataluña. Nació el 20 de abril de 1893 en Barcelona, en el seno de una familia acomodada. A pesar del talento artístico de Joan, su padre prefería que entrase en la escuela de comercio “para llegar a ser alguien en esta vida”. Miró estudió comercio, pero al mismo tiempo asistía a clases en la Escuela de la Lonja, la famosa academia de artes, donde en su tiempo estudió Picasso. Estudió en la Escuela de Bellas Artes y en la Academia Gali de Barcelona. El artista realizó su primera

exposición personal en la Galería Dalmau en 1918. En las primeras obras de Miró se nota la influencia del fauvismo, cubismo y de los frescos catalanes de la época romana. Pronto, en París, se produce el esperado encuentro con Pablo Picasso y André Masson.

A partir de la época en París, las obras de

Joan Miró i Ferrà (18931983), el orgullo de Barcelona: pintor, escultor, grabador y ceramista catalán Miró se hacen más surrealistas. En numerosas entrevistas y cartas, Miró expresa el deseo de alejarse de los métodos tradicionales de las bellas artes, negándose a someterse a sus exigencias y principios estéticos y pasar a una forma más moderna de expresión.

En 1953, nace la unión creativa de Joan Miró y Josep Llorens i Artigas. En el pequeño pueblo de Gallifa, entre los montes catalanes, dos artistas inspirados por la belleza de la naturaleza y alentados por la libertad de la creatividad conciben sus obras maestras de cerámica. En 1956, en la galería parisina Mae tuvo lugar una exposición, en la que se exhibieron 32 obras de esta unión creativa. La exposición tuvo un éxito arrollador entre el público.

En 1955, el artista recibe el encargo para pintar las paredes de la oficina parisina de la UNESCO. Decide trabajar junto con Artigas y utilizar la cerámica. Como resultado nacen los maravillosos ‘Sol y Luna’, y los creadores son galardonados con el Gran Premio de la Fundación Guggenheim. Estos mosaicos de la UNESCO sirvieron como prototipos para muchas de las obras posteriores, entre las que se encuentran los murales cerámicos del Aeropuerto de Barcelona (1970) y del Palacio de Congresos de Madrid (1980).

A finales de los años 60 y principios de los 70, Miró se entusiasma con la escultura y, nuevamente, abre nuevos espacios de expresión.

Volúmenes y materiales, estos eran los nuevos

rompecabezas, y a medida que los iba resolviendo, creaba numerosas y excelentes composiciones plásticas. La última obra escultórica de Miró en Barcelona es la de ‘Dona i ocell’ (Mujer y pájaro), realizada en colaboración con Joan Gardy Artigas e inaugurada en 1983. Situada en el Parque de Joan Miró, la creación del maestro, con 22 metros de altura, representa la forma femenina en un sombrero, además de la imagen de un pájaro. La superficie de la escultura está cubierta por cerámica roja, amarilla, verde y azul (los colores favoritos de Miró).

Casa Botín, established in 1725, is considered the oldest restaurant in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records. Is that really true?

Amazingly, it is. The Guinness Book of World Records has recognized us as the oldest restaurant in the world. It recognizes that we have been operating out of the same premises, under the same name and without interruption since 1725.

In Barcelona on Paseo de Gracia 24 bis is opened a huge complex called El Nacional dedicated solely to gastronomy. The complex spans more than 2,600 square meters.

What specialties does Botín offer to its guests?

Our signature dish is a spit roast pig, slow-cooked over an oak wood fire. We also offer special traditional dishes from our grandfather Emilio, such as clams cooked in the Botín style.

Has the recipes for these dishes been preserved, or have they been changed, in keeping with more up-to-date culinary techniques?

We not only follow the old recipes, but also the original steps in which they were cooked. The restaurant uses a wood stove, which was used in Spanish cuisine during the Middle Ages, as well as a coal-stove, typical to the XlX century.

What can you say about the decor of the restaurant and the kitchen utensils?

The lay-out and the decor have also stood the test of time. Only certain instruments have been adapted to

Viaje en el tiempo El restaurante español Casa Botín, o Sobrino de Botín, ha sido reconocido como el más antiguo del mundo. Hemos tenido la oportunidad de entrevistar al director y copropietario del restaurante, Carlos González, quien nos ha hablado acerca del secreto del éxito del Botín.

¿Cuál es la especialidad de Botín? ¿Qué platos se ofrecen?

Nuestra especialidad es el cochinillo asado en horno de leña de encina. También tenemos platos de cocina tradicional con un toque especial que le supo dar nuestro abuelo Emilio, como las Almejas a la Marinera al estilo Botín. ¿Se han podido conservar las recetas antiguas de estos platos?

No solo mantenemos las recetas antiguas, sino también los antiguos medios de preparación: el horno de leña, que se usa en la cocina castellana desde la Edad Media, y la cocina de carbón, propia del siglo XlX. ¿Cómo es su diseño interior? ¿Y los utensilios de cocina?

Mans Samsó the treasure of Montsant

osep Maria Anguera is in charge of the winery Vinas Darmós d’en Gabriel, situated in a small winery village namedMontsant in the province of Tarragona. Josep Maria´s project was initiated only ten years ago in 2004. However, his family have been dedicated to cultivating grapes and winemaking for over a century..

Earlier, the wine which the Anguera family produced was sold to third party companies specialized in exportation, but Josep, acknowledging the quality of his wine, decided to create his own brand and go into distribution.

The winery produces a great red wine, L’Heravi, which is made from Carignan and Grenache grapes (3 types of it exist in the range), and also an excellent dessert wine, Dolçet Mireia, which is hard to find due to its limited production.

Despite that, today I would like to talk about the best family vineyard, which covers 0.4 hect-

ares, where 100 years ago Joan Rofes planted the Carignan grape. Here the best wine of Josep Maria, which is called Samsó Mans (Samso is the local name of Carignan) was created, which is one of the few single varietal wines madefrom the Carignan grape in this region.

Mans Samsó rose to stardom two years ago, when the vintage of 2009 was proclaimed the Best Wine in Catalonia according to the ‘Guia De Vins De Catalunya 2012’. It scored 9.78 points out of 10, only two decimal points from perfection Annually, just 600-800 bottles of this fantastic wine are produced,which finally enter the marketplace. The price of this wine, manufactured in a traditional and biological way, is between 50€ and 75€ per bottle. This wine is a masterpiece, in which the balance between body and structure, finesse and delicacy is highlighted,.

osep Maria Anguera dirige la bodega Vinyes d’en Gabriel en Darmós, un pequeño pueblo de la provincia de Tarragona en la denominación Montsant.

El proyecto de Josep Maria nace hace solamente diez años, en 2004, pero su familia se dedica al cultivo de la vid desde hace más de 100 años. Hasta entonces el vino que elaboraba la familia Anguera se vendía a terceras compañías que lo destinaban a exportación, pero Josep, conocedor de la calidad del vino que producían, decidió crear su propia marca y ocuparse de su distribución.

La bodega elabora un estupendo vino tinto a base de cariñena y garnacha que recibe el nombre de L’Heravi (existen 3 tipos en su gama), y además un espectacular vino dulce que casi no se comercializa dada su limitadísima producción, el Dolçet de Mireia. Pero hoy hablaremos del fruto de su mejor parcela, una viña de 0,4 hectáreas, donde su antepasado Joan Rofes plantó cariñena hace ya 100 años. Allí nace el mejor vino de Josep Maria, Mans de Samsó (Samsó es el nombre por el cual se conoce a la cariñena en la comarca), uno de los poquísimos monovarietales a base de cariñena de la zona.

Barcelona: the light show Barcelona offers a huge variety of options for celebrating New Year’s Eve. One of them is in front of the famous Agbar Tower. At night, the facade of the tower is illuminated in a dazzling array of thousands of multi-coloured LED lights. Toledo: a taste of history During the Christmas holidays, Toledo shines with multi-coloured lights. The smell of burning wood, roasted chestnuts and hot chocolate invade the streets, and you have the impression of being in the world of a fairy tale. In the historic center of the city, a small touristic train circulates that takes you from the stone entrance gate of the city to the palace-fortress, called El Alcazar (in the Middle Ages it was the residence of the Spanish kings), which is situated at the top of the hill.

Nowadays, Casa Batlló is a well-known house all over the world. It is a unique edifice which is situated on Paseo de Gracia, built at the beginning of the twentieth century by the architect Antoni Gaudi, the main representative of Catalan modernism, who had become one of the emblematic figures of European architecture. We met up with Nina Bernat, the owner and the CEO of Casa Batlló. The meeting was held on the fourth floor of this architectural masterpiece. It was one of the few interviews that Nina has given.

How is it possible to make a museum out of the building?

More than just a museum, it is a great significant architectural creation, and our task is to show its greatness and uniqueness. The rest has to be done by visitors. You can work hard, but if the public do not show their support, your efforts will be in vain.

What distinguishes Casa Batlló from the other modernist-style buildings?

Gaudi was a genius and was regarded as a modernist, but he didn´t always follow the principles of that style, he frequently took his own way.

Gaudi worked on Casa Batlló with extreme and unusual freedom, and profound creative integrity. The result is a poetic architectural composition, full of symbols and character, with a magnificently decorated facade.

Now you hold the post of Director General of Casa Batlló and are also working on the restoration of the building. Which works, to your mind, were the most complicated and, at the same time, the most significant?

The restoration and maintenance of the building is our duty to the public, and our responsibility for World Cultural Heritage. Probably

IN CASA BATLLÓ, Gaudi expressed his religious devotion, love for his native land and the worship of Mother Nature the most intricate, and most exciting was the reconstruction of the facade. Gaudi created its dimensional and volumetric shape, but eventually the coating starts to flake. The glass elements and ceramic disks, in the course of time, begin to obtain more and more cracks. We scrupulously investigated all the surface of the building, and as a result, we have covered all the cracks withthe help of special injections, we have conducted an antifungal treatment, and we have applied a water-repellent finish to the stone surfaces. A particular challenge in the works was the balconies and ceramic roof elements. On the whole, the conducted restoration and cleaning of the surface allowed us to discover the splendour of the facade. We are very satisfied with the eventual result because the facade is one of the most significant parts of Casa Batlló, which excites general admiration.

In Casa Batlló the architect Gaudi embodied the world of dreams and fantasies with the help of occult symbolism. In your opinion, what message did he want to convey?

Probably, Gaudi did not even know nor realise the importance and significance of his work. To

my mind, the architect expressed himself in this creation, with his inherent sensitivity, religious devotion, love for his land and worship of “Mother Nature”. He left for us a great, excellent legacy, as Professor Bassegoda said; Casa Batlló is “An architectural smile.”

The brand “Barcelona” has an international importance; it is associated with quality of life, modern art, innovation ... What aspects of it, in your opinion, need to be improved?

Barcelona has all the resources and the capacity to be called a Smart City: prolific climate, excellent gastronomy, amazing architecture, the sports movement as club “Barça”, the high level of medicine (presented by Dr. Jose Baselga, and many others) ... Foreigners see Barcelona as a model city. We also would like to ensure the economic well-being of all residents of Barcelona, who are endowed with such qualities as cheerfulness and animal spirits, ambition and diligence, Mediterranean cordiality and hospitality. I believe that the Catalan bourgeoisie will be reborn. However, some economic uncertainty still exists, and clear and bright minds are required to implement new projects.

¿Cómo se puede hacer de un edificio un museo?

Más que un museo es una obra arquitectónica de mucho valor y nuestro trabajo ha sido difundir la grandeza de esta casa y realzar la magia de esta obra única del genial arquitecto Gaudí. El resto lo hace el público visitante. Tú puedes hacer muchas cosas pero si el público no lo apoya no sirve de nada. ¿Cuál es el toque diferencial de la Casa Batlló entre los otros edificios modernistas?

Gaudí fue un genio y aunque fue considerado modernista, no se regía tanto por los patrones del modernismo como otros arquitectos, era una liga aparte. En la Casa Batlló, Gaudí trabajó con una libertad creativa inusual, en plena madurez artística. El resultado

Ahora todo el mundo conoce o ha oído hablar de la Casa Batlló, un edificio muy peculiar de principios del siglo XX, situado en el Paseo de Gracia de Barcelona, obra del arquitecto Antonio Gaudí, máximo representante del modernismo catalán, convertido en uno de los iconos más representativos de la arquitectura europea. Tenemos un encuentro con Nina Bernat, propietaria y consejera delegada de la Casa Batlló, en las oficinas de la cuarta planta de la joya arquitectónica, esta es una de las pocas entrevistas que ella ha concedido.

Gaudí plasmó en la Casa Batlló, su devoción religiosa, el amor por su tierra y la admiración por la madre naturaleza es una composición poética, llena de simbolismos, caracterizada por su espectacular y colorida fachada.

Actualmente ocupas el cargo de consejera delegada de la Casa Bat-

lló y esto lo compaginas con labores de restauración (rehabilitación y decoración) del edificio. ¿Qué reformas de la casa han resultado más difíciles pero a la vez más satisfactorias? ¿Por qué?

La rehabilitación y el mantenimiento es parte de nuestro compromiso con el público al gestionar un Patrimonio Mundial. Quizá la más difícil pero la más lúcida y admirada, fue la recuperación de la fachada.

Gaudí había dado una forma volumétrica a la fachada original adhiriendo una nueva piel que con el tiempo comenzaba a desprenderse, al igual que los fragmentos de trencadís de vidrio, o los discos cerámicos que presentaban fisuras. Se hizo una prospección muy detallada de toda la superficie, a partir de anda-

mios. Se repararon todas las grietas mediante inyecciones de resina, se aplicaron tratamientos anti fúngicos, se pusieron rellenos de mortero donde hacía falta, tratamiento de hidrofugado sobre la superficie de piedra. Se intervinieron los balcones y marcos de carpintería, los elementos cerámicos del tejado.

La recuperación y la limpieza nos permitió descubrir la magnífica policromía de la fachada en toda su magnitud. Esto nos causa una gran satisfacción ya que la fachada exterior es la parte que caracteriza la Casa Batlló y la más admirada.

El arquitecto Gaudí plasmó en la Casa Batlló, un mundo de ensueño y fantasía por medio de la simbología oculta. ¿Qué mensaje o mensajes crees que quería transmitir? ¿Por qué?

Probablemente Gaudí no tenía conciencia de su importancia, ni sospechaba la trascendencia y fascinación que iba a tener su obra. Creo que era simplemente él mismo, con una sensibilidad propia que quiso plasmar en su obra…su devoción religiosa, el amor por su tierra y la admiración hacia la “Madre Naturaleza”. Nos deja un legado lleno de belleza, que cómo decía el Profesor Bassegoda, la Casa Batlló es “Una sonrisa Arquitectónica”.

La marca “Barcelona” tiene valor internacional, se asocia a calidad de vida, arte modernista, innovación… Pero en tu opinión, ¿en qué

ámbitos tenemos que mejorar?

Barcelona tiene unos ingredientes muy buenos para ser una Smart City, tiene buen clima, gastronomía excelente, arquitectura virtuosa, deporte competente como el barça, medicina ejemplar (como el doctor José Baselga entre otros muchos)…

Además los de fuera nos ven como el mejor país del mundo. Pero nos gustaría que se consolidara el bienestar económico de todos los barceloneses para que puedan continuar irradiando ese carácter amistoso y feliz, forjado a base de trabajo y de las bondades mediterráneas. Creemos que volverá a resurgir la burguesía catalana, ahora todavía hay demasiado miedo y con el resurgir económico, se materializan proyectos que requieren genios.

Мы встретились с Ниной Бернат, владелицей и генеральным директором Дома Батло. Интервью, - одно из немногих, проведенных с Ниной, - проходило на четвертом этаже этого шедевра архитектуры. Как стало возможным превратить здание в музей? Больше чем просто музей - это архитектурное произведение огромной значимости, и нашей задачей является показать его масштаб и уникальность. Остальное предстоит сделать посетителям. Вы можете усердно работать, но если публика этого не поддержит – труды будут напрасными. Что отличает Дом Батло от других зданий эпохи модернизма? Гауди обладал исключительным талантом. Архитектор относил себя к модернистам, однако не всегда следовал принципам это-

го направления - он шел собственным путем. Гауди работал над Домом Батло с особой свободой и абсолютной творческой целостностью. Результатом стала поэтическая композиция, полная символов, с великолепно украшенным фасадом. Сейчас Вы являетесь генеральным директором Дома Батло, а также занимаетесь реставрацией здания. Какие из работ были для Вас самыми сложными и, в тоже время, наиболее значимыми? Реставрация и содержание здания являются нашими обязанностями перед публикой, поскольку мы не-

сем ответственность за Всемирное культурное наследие. Возможно, самой сложной, и, вместе с тем, самой захватывающей деятельностью стало воссоздание фасада. Гауди создал его объемную форму, однако со временем покрытие начало отслаиваться. В стеклянных элементах и керамических дисках со временем появились трещины. Мы провели тщательное изучение всей поверхности, заделали все щели при помощи специальных инъекций, провели антигрибковую обработку, водоотталкивающую отделку каменных поверхностей. Особую сложность при проведении работ представляли балконы и керамические элемен-

ты крыши. В итоге, работы по реставрации и очистке позволили нам открыть все великолепие фасада. Мы очень довольны конечным результатом, поскольку фасад здания - это наиболее характерная часть Дома Батло, вызывающая всеобщее восхищение.

Иностранцы видят в Барселоне образцовый город. Нам хотелось бы также обеспечить экономическое благополучие всех жителей Барселоны, наделенных такими качествами, как жизнерадостность, трудолюбие, средиземноморское радушие и открытость. Я верю, что каталонская буржуазия возродится. Однако пока еще присутствует неуверенность в экономическом плане, а для реализации новых проектов нужны светлые умы.

Newborn baby boy Kirill needs your help Mother of the newborn baby boy Kirill contacted us to share her story: child has been diagnosed with a congenital heart defect during 22-23 week of pregnancy (Mitral stenosis and aortic atresia in hypoplastic left heart syndrome). The family decided to move to Barcelona to have more chances to save the life of their child. Kirill was born on the 29 of September, 2014 in Quirón Dexeus hospital. The child needs three surgeries with a total cost of 45 000 euros in order to survive.

The family had to sell the apartment in Kazan and get a bank loan to be able to carry out the first surgery. Kirill is connected to the blood oxygenation device, and eat through a feeding tube. The second surgery is planned within the next 3-6 months, depending on the baby’s health condition.

The family is not able to pay for the surgery and manage it on their own. Please help them.

Para poder sobrevivir, el niño debe pasar por tres intervenciones quirúgicas complicadas, que tienen un coste de 45 mil euros. New exhibition in the Picasso Museum The Picasso Museum in Barcelona presents 87 artistic photos made by famous American photojournalist David Douglas Duncan, from 1956 - 1962. David Douglas Duncan has just donated 163 pictures to the museum, and the best 87 of them were selected for the exhibition. Here you can also see 24 of the artist’s paintings. The museum director Bernardo Laniado-Romero says that many photos depicting Picasso were taken all over the world, but Duncan’s pictures are very special. ‘It is mostly portraits, but there are also stories and Picasso life scenes’ — he says.

En total Duncan concedió al museo 163 fotografías, de las cuales se seleccionaron 87.

Además, en la exposición se exhibirán 24 lienzos del artista. Picasso fue fotografiado por muchos, pero las fotografías tomadas por Duncan son especiales. “Se trata básicamente de retratos, pero también aparecen historias y escenas de la vida de Picasso”, declaró Bernardo Laniado-Romero, director del museo.
