Principal’s Welcome Message Dear Parents and Carers, It is hard to think that we will soon be entering the final term of this academic year. This term, once again, has been really busy, yet very rewarding. Some of you will be aware that at the start of May we had a brief inspection by a team of people from the Regional Schools Commissioner office, this is part of the Department for Education. Although we are not allowed to share the official report, it is fair to say that we are delighted with the outcome, it highlights the encouraging work that is taking place within the school and reflects the positive attitude of students and staff towards learning. The visit also highlighted strong teaching, good behavior and projected increases in results which will be evident over the next few years. This term has also seen us carry out a lot of intensive work to support Year 11 students sitting their GCSE exams. Revision sessions, booster groups, weekend classes and holiday programmes have all taken place in order to further support students. The attendance, along with the commitment and attitude of students has been outstanding. Also this term some of you will be aware that we have welcomed our new Head of Math’s. As you are aware, this is a crucial position within the school as historically results in this area have been slightly lower than other areas. I am delighted to let you know that we have appointed an outstanding and experienced leader called Mr Stuart Thomas. Mr Thomas, has experience leading Math’s development through our local Math’s Hub and also brings with him a proven track record of rapidly improving achievement and attainment across a number of schools. Next term already looks to be another busy and rewarding term. I’m particularly looking forward to visiting primary schools in order to meet with our Year 6 students who will be joining us in Year 7 next year. This along with Activities week, Year 10 Work Experience, End of Year Exams, The Year 11 Leaving Assembly, The Prom, Transition Link Days, and Sports Day means there is a lot to further enrich our young people.

_____________________ SLT Surgeries
Finally, can I thank you for the many conversations I have had with parents this term. Many of the conversations have recognised how we have developed a much calmer, purposeful environment. It is very clear to me that the stability that is now within the school, along with the strong relationships that we are building with parents and students will ensure all of our young people thrive and reach their potential
Please come along to our Drop-In sessions and speak to a member of the Senior Leadership Team. This is an informal chance to have a cup of tea and to ask any questions that you may have. These surgeries run on the first day back following each holiday.
As always, if you have any further queries or you would like to discuss anything with me, please do not hesitate to get in touch

England V Wales You may be aware that the Euro 2016 football tournament is due to start soon. On Thursday 16th June, England are playing Wales. The Kick Off is 2pm and we are proposing that we will show the game ‘live; to the whole school as a treat. We are currently looking at how we can set up a number of ‘big screens’ around the school. After the first half, (3pm) students can either choose to go home or stay in school to view the second half. Alternative activities will be put on for students who do not want to engage in this.
