EDITOR’S NOTE Hi Gators! I hope everyone is doing great and getting prepared for the start of the new school year! We don’t know what this year will have in store for us, but all we can do is keep our head up and face the uncertainty head on. I’m sure all of you are catching up on sleep and focusing on yourself. Self-care is always important! Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy this month’s newsletter, take care! Yours in Service, Ronald Lu Goldstone Divisional Bulletin Editor
#KIWINSFORYOU Editors and historians do not need to fill out a monthly ARF anymore. Instead, we encourage you guys to post the photos of your club’s service events on your respective club’s Instagram and tag #kiwinsforyou. This way, we can have an archive of your club activities and allow your memories to be featured in this divisional newsletter as well! www.kiwins.org/officer-resources

LTG’S NOTE Hey Gators! I want to start off by saying how grateful I am to serve as your Lieutenant Governor for the 2020-21 term. I hope you all got enough rest during the summer to focus on yourselves, clubs, and adjusting to life at home. Let’s continue being the awesome Goldstone Gators we are! School is going to start soon, so don’t forget to recruit members. Make friends with people in your online classes, study hard, and spread the word of KIWIN’S. Show them the creativity, adaptability, and courage you all have! Let’s make it a goal to increase our service/fundraising events and find ways to make memories regardless of the obstacles ahead. I would like to thank all the generous Kiwanians that donated over $900 at our July D35 Kiwanis SLP Take-over! All the support you give the SLP inspires us to work harder to become more knowledgeable about the branches of the Kiwanis family. Thank you for providing safety and security for our online events at a time when everything is uncertain. To all KIWIN’S members and officers, I encourage you to reach out, attend their meetings, and invite them to your events! They are wonderful people to work and create bonds with! Congratulations to all the recipients of our Goldstone banquet awards and July Blanks of the Month! You’re all outstanding individuals and I can’t wait to see how far you’ll go. From our SLP Take-over to our Ding Tea fundraiser, thank you to all the Gators who continue to support their club/division and work hard. Let’s continue to spread the KIWIN’S spirit to our homes, club, school, and community. You can always contact me kiwins.goldstoneltg@gmail.com if you ever have any questions or just need someone to talk to! Don’t forget to social distance and wear your mask to flatten the curve. I look forward to seeing you all in our divisional/club events! Stay safe <3 Chomping through for service, Juliana Miranda Goldstone KIWIN’S Lieutenant Governor

CNH KIWIN’S PROJECTS MAJOR EMPHASIS LIVE2LEARN This is a program that promotes education and builds literacy skills that is specifically focused on ages 5-9 years old. It implements education support structures to assist kids of all levels and abilities to develop and embrace key skills to improve the chances of kids getting at least some of the opportunities afforded to more fortunate contemporaries. It creates endless possibilities to strengthen the common goal of service.
MINOR EMPHASIS PEDIATRIC TRAUMA PROGRAM It aims to raise awareness and funds to increase education about PTP and preventable accidents/injuries. The leading caused of death of children (infancy to 19 years old) in the US are motor vehicle accidents, physical abuse, drowning accidents, falls, and animal bites. It became a main focus of KIWIN’S in conjunction with California-Nevada-Hawaii Kiwanis in 1992. Our largest fundraiser for this is Fall Rally North and South!

GOVERNOR’S PROJECT UNICEF UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfill their potential, from early childhood through adolescence. Through the Coronavirus Children’s Appeal, UNICEF helps to respond, recover, and ultimately reimagine the effects of Covid-19 on children. In all of its work, UNICEF recognizes the particular importance of early childhood development and adolescence. UNICEF programmes focus on the most disadvantaged children, including those living in fragile contexts, those with disabilities, those who are affected by rapid urbanization and those affected by environmental degradation.
CAUSE PARTNER & PREFERRED CHARITY ELIMINATE PROJECT & TRICK OR TREAT ELIMINATE PROJECT The Eliminate Project’s goal is to get rid of the disease, Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus (MNT), that affects thousands of mothers and children worldwide. Every 15 minutes, a newborn baby dies from this disease. The newborn becomes too sensitive to light , sound, and contact that it cannot even experience a mother’s touch. The Eliminate Project has raised over $82 million since 2012 to help vaccinate mothers and babies against this deadly disease.
TRICK-OR-TREAT FOR UNICEF Through Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, Kiwanis International and UNICEF partners up in an effort to battle Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus.

EVENTS RECAP CRANES 4 CANCER GOLDSTONE X D13E JOINT EVENT SATURDAY, JULY 18TH
Cranes For Cancer is an organization that seeks to brighten up the day of those in unfortunate situations. It is said that 1000 paper cranes can grant people eternal luck and healing. Key Club and KIWIN’S members sent hopeful messages to cancer patients to bring joy to their faces. “I think the Cranes for Cancers event went really well! The attendance was great as we had about 58 Key Club/KIWIN’S members attend! We did fun ice breaks such as Numbers, Truth or Dare, and Guess That Song. Overall, I’m glad to have worked with D15E and meet new Kiwanis!”
“The Cranes for Cancer service event with KIWIN’S was a success! Not only was it a safe way to show our support for pediatric cancer patients, but we were also able to have some much needed bonding time with the amazing Goldstone Gators! Working with Juliana was so inspiring for me because she is such a composed and responsible leader. I admire her for working so hard for her division, especially during these difficult times. As a fellow LTG, I know she will take them to great heights! Key Clubbers and Kiwanians alike loved the event and I am looking forward to more joint events in the future! “

“I was honored to receive the Officer of the Year Award! Even though there were more things I wanted to accomplish this past term, it was nice to be recognized. From the time spent preparing engaging service events to handling finances and fundraisers at the district, divisional, and club level, it was a memorable experience. I would like to thank Diamond Bar KIWIN’S, our past DLT, District Finance and Fundraising Committee, and advisors for their support and this past term. Stay safe and best of luck this term Gators!” Written by Jeffery Lam
DING TEA FUNDRAISER
PROCEEDS WENT TO UNICEF JULY 26TH - 31ST
“Partnering up with one of our favorite local boba shops to support a greater cause was an opportunity that I was very excited for. When I first contacted Hacienda Heights Ding Tea, the employees greeted me with excellent service, and the emails sent back and forth about the fundraiser, did not have a single delay. It certainly allowed this event to run much more smoothly and effortlessly than expected. Without a doubt, the members of the division also played a huge role in the success of this fundraiser. Every single time I hopped on social media, I saw so many members advertising and promoting this event, and even that contributed so much. During the actual fundraiser from July 26th to July 31st, several members participated every single day and provided much support for our division, as I saw from many of their posts on social media. As the proceeds of this fundraiser went towards UNICEF, I believe that the members not only contributed to a greater good, but also raised much awareness in the process as well. I believe that this event was such a success as Goldstone’s very first fundraiser of the term, and hope to see even more participation in future events!” Written by Kevin Chung Goldstone Divisional Treasurer
