LTG’S MESSAGE Hey Goldstone Gators! As always, thank you for allowing me to serve such an awesome division. We are officially half-way through the term. Stay diligent and push ALL club’s members to pay dues since we collect them throughout this whole year, spread the ohana by sharing your experiences and memories. With club registration, ⅚ clubs qualify for early bird dues and ⅙ for regular dues. Thank you for the hard work, remember we can recruit throughout the WHOLE year! It’s never too late! Yet again, Goldstone won Penny Wars for the third consecutive year while raising $800 for PTP! Thank you for all the hard work and devotion to our spirit videos and participation! Let’s keep the same energy and push to raise $1080 for PTP and UNICEF! We still have time to fundraise and aim for our divisional goals by the end of the term! As we approach the ending of this year, don’t forget to take care of your mental/ physical/emotional health. Regarding quarantine fatigue and end of year social events, don’t forget to take the necessary precautions to make sure we are being safe. Take responsibility and help flatten the curve by wearing masks. Let’s take a day to reimagine health. Chomping through for service, Juliana Miranda Goldstone Lieutenant Governor 2020-21

DISTRICT PROJECTS 2020-2021|

CNH KIWIN’S PROJECTS MAJOR EMPHASIS LIVE2LEARN This is a program that promotes education and builds literacy skills that is specifically focused on ages 5-9 years old. It implements education support structures to assist kids of all levels and abilities to develop and embrace key skills to improve the chances of kids getting at least some of the opportunities afforded to more fortunate contemporaries. It creates endless possibilities to strengthen the common goal of service.

MINOR EMPHASIS PEDIATRIC TRAUMA PROGRAM It aims to raise awareness and funds to increase education about PTP and preventable accidents/injuries. The leading caused of death of children (infancy to 19 years old) in the US are motor vehicle accidents, physical abuse, drowning accidents, falls, and animal bites. It became a main focus of KIWIN’S in conjunction with California-Nevada-Hawaii Kiwanis in 1992. Our largest fundraiser for this is Fall Rally North and South!

GOVERNOR’S PROJECT UNICEF UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfill their potential, from early childhood through adolescence. Through the Coronavirus Children’s Appeal, UNICEF helps to respond, recover, and ultimately reimagine the effects of Covid-19 on children. In all of its work, UNICEF recognizes the particular importance of early childhood development and adolescence. UNICEF programmes focus on the most disadvantaged children, including those living in fragile contexts, those with disabilities, those who are affected by rapid urbanization and those affected by environmental degradation.

CAUSE PARTNER & PREFERRED CHARITY ELIMINATE PROJECT & TRICK OR TREAT ELIMINATE PROJECT The Eliminate Project’s goal is to get rid of the disease, Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus (MNT), that affects thousands of mothers and children worldwide. Every 15 minutes, a newborn baby dies from this disease. The newborn becomes too sensitive to light , sound, and contact that it cannot even experience a mother’s touch. The Eliminate Project has raised over $82 million since 2012 to help vaccinate mothers and babies against this deadly disease.

TRICK-OR-TREAT FOR UNICEF Through Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, Kiwanis International and UNICEF partners up in an effort to battle Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus.

KIWANIS FAMILY ONE DAY

PAUSE FOR EVENT October 5th - 9th, 2020 Pause For is an app that aims for reducing our dependence on digital media and frees us up to do more. It provides hot meals, clean water, or vaccinations for puppies. I’ve had a tough time focusing on my hobbies or just studying for

KIWANIS FAMILY ONE DAY October 19th - November 7th, 2020 I am so ecstatic that we were able to have the first Kiwanis One Day for the first time in several years! I had such an amazing time planning the event with my counterparts and also watching the event unfold. It was so amazing to experience this event and being in a “room” with

VIRTUAL FALL RALLY VIRTUAL FALL RALLY November 14th, 2020 This year, the annual district event moved online with the zoom platform due to the circumstances presented by the pandemic. Even with this change, we still managed to create a fun and engaging atmosphere that allowed us to fundraise for PTP while doing so! “Fall Rally was a great experience for me because as my first ever Fall Rally, I truly experienced the inclusion, spirit, and service which is what the organization is all about. With the games, chants, donations, and more, Virtual Fall Rally gave us both an incredibly fun time and an opportunity to help others!”

“This year Fall Rally was definitely really different, I’m glad that KIWIN’S was able to adapt to the pandemic and create a wonderful experience with both North and South regions. As an attendee, Fall Rally turned out really well and I had a great time meeting so many people virtually. The virtual meeting introduced me to many amazing people and I’m excited to attend next year as well.” Written By Grace Jong Glen A. Wilson HS
