Duga-3 Vinyl Artwork The Duga-3 is one of a few Russian radiowave signal towers that were used during the Soviet Revolution - they were used in tests to control civilian's minds and to change the weather.
Roxxie Blackham
The noise of the 10hz tapping sound was commonly recognised as the sound of a woodpecker, hence the nickname: The Russian Woodpecker.
The repeat of the woodpecker also reflected on the sound of the tapping noise that the Duga-3 creates.
Playing with the idea of the woodpecker nickname and the thought of controlling minds, a simple line drawing of a woodpecker was created and repeated in a circular pattern.

Odonis Odonis Poster The poster for Odonis Odonis was created after listening to their music. The blurred out faces of the band members reflect on the hectic sound and heavy beats to some of their songs. The full design of the poster didn't really reflect the band that well, as Sophie struggled to make the concept suit the original logo.
Roxxie Blackham
The original logo for their band was created prebriefing and it didn't really suit the band, however this is what we had to work with so we made it suit the design as best as we could do in the time set. This one day brief was a definite learning process, and helped me to create something different to usual.

Tephi Lookbook I was approached by a communications agency in Shoreditch called We Are Caffeine to design the layout for a look book for a wedding dress design agency called Tephi.
Roxxie Blackham
The actual design process was very client controlled and I didn't really have a large amount of design freedom. This brief had a quick turn over, taking about 2 weeks of constant communication.

The layout was consistent throughout the entire look book. The client didn't really want any variations within the layouts, but occasionally the layout wouldn't include a smaller image on the left hand page, as only a certain amount of images were supplied.

The colour and font choices were all picked by Tephi, as these are already used within their current branding. This project was really interesting to work on, as I learnt a lot about working with clients who don't allow any sort of designer input or creative freedom.

Bright Young Things Jessie Leong graduated last year from LCA and already has a brand created around her fashion photography work. However, she wanted some branding for her commercial photography, focusing on wedding photography.
Roxxie Blackham
Unfortunately there were a lot of communication issues and the collaboration soon came to an end.
The above picture shows the secondary logo being put to use as a watermark on top of one of Jessie's photographs.
As I didn't finish the branding for Jessie herself, I decided to create some mock ups of how the branding could have gone if we had better communication and Jessie wasn't so picky on design choices.
The logo icon shows a camera with a compass acting as the lens. A compass was used within the design as Jessie's photography focuses on outside weddings and clients who love to get emersed in nature.

Business Stationary The branding stationary reflects a very minimalistic and professional approach, so that it doesn't distract from the actual photography. The colour red has been used throughout the branding to reflect on the use of the compass in the logo.
Roxxie Blackham
The secondary logo is used as a banner watermark image for printed photographs, as well as images used online. This is to provide a constant form of advertisement for the brand. The business cards are simplistic, with a splash or red in the contact details as well as along the edges of each card.

Website The website was designed on Wordpress for ease of usage when Jessie needs to upload imagery etc. It also meant that coding was a lot easier on my behalf, as there are set templates that you can mess with.
Roxxie Blackham
I chose to work with circles on the homepage, as they reflected on the circular shape of the logo. I feel as though circles are a lot softer in appearance than rigid shapes like squares, which helps to add a feminine touch to the aesthetic.

iPhone The website layout is responsive, so changes slightly according to the device that it's being viewed on. Above you can see how the website works on an iPhone.

Intern Magazine Working in a group of 5, we were asked to create a magazine concept, front cover and Kickstarter campaign video.
We thought that these kind of jobs didn't really gain that much recognition, so it would be interesting to hear their stories and personal experiences in the industries.
Our group chose to create a magazine based around the experiences that people gain from every day jobs, for example taxi drivers, bouncers, etc.
We called the magazine "Untold", as we felt that this name reflected on the idea behind the book - uncovering untold stories.

Front Cover The design of the cover reflects on the same idea of uncovering a story, by having a plain page with a cut out hole in the middle revealing a small amount of the image, but not enough to give away what kind of job the person has. Then, when you open the front page, you reveal the untold story.
Roxxie Blackham
For our Kickstarter campaign, we pitched our magazine design to the rest of the class and spoke briefly about how we would create our video. We decided that we would work with a documentary style video, with lots of short snippets of interviews combined into a tense and interesting trailer that doesn't reveal too much.
