Personal Branding
Branding Research I looked at lettering and typography to inform my design decisions, as lettering is a passion of mine so I wanted to incorporate hand rendered typography within my branding.
to still reflect upon my Graphic Design skills too and not just my lettering passion, so I looked at different kinds of typefaces and colours that I could use to reflect this.
This meant that existing logos that I looked at were all hand rendered and of a similar style. Although I really love hand rendered logos, I want my logo
Looking at other personal branding projects online was inspirational and gave me ideas for my own branding. I also noticed that everyone designs
different things to suit their own personal needs so considered what ephemera I will actually need and what I don’t feel as though I need to design right now, because of my plans for life after university.

Although I liked my logo from second year, I wanted to create something more professional and respectable as I will be graduating very soon and need to seem a bit more mature.
I drew out some sketches to come up with a design for the back of my business card as I wanted to incorporate my love for lettering within my personal branding.
I started to create a website last year but decided on a more simplistic and straight forward layout when I went back to it. Using Cargo Collective as my platform, I created an easy to use fully working website to showcase my online portfolio.
For the rest of my business ephemera I hunted for stock in the peppermint colour as well as envelopes, sketchbooks etc and cut my logo out of white vinyl to stick onto all these products as I thought that I would take things like sketchbooks and my laptop with me to client meetings or job interviews.
This sketch was then taken into Illustrator, vectorised and altered slightly to best fit into my branding.
My logo was used and branding was reflected through the use of colour.

The Logo The logo is designed using the typeface ‘Bookmania’ and has had glyphs added to create a more playful and friendly logotype. The secondary logo was also created using ‘Bookmania’, however was more manipulated to create a singular icon made up of RB.
The colour I used was chosen simply because it is my favourite colour and a lot of things I own are in that colour, for example my macbook case and my notebook and pen.

The Business Cards I found some stock that was the same colour as my branding so I decided to print onto it for my business cards. The design of the cards is simple yet playful. You get a sense of my Graphic Design background from the contact info side of the card, but also get to see more of my personality and passion for lettering on the reverse.

Sketchbooks I decided to apply my branding across sketchbooks and notebooks as I take them everywhere with me and thought that having branded sketchbooks will be memorable and unique. I applied my logo to some peppermint sketchbooks and my personal notebook using white vinyl stickers.

Macbook Like the sketchbooks, I always have my laptop in my bag and am likely to take it with me to job interviews and client meetings. Having my branding and peppermint case on my laptop will, again, make me memorable. The logo was applied to the macbook case using white vinyl stickers.

Letterhead The letterhead is simplistic, with a small splash of the peppermint colour and my logo placed neatly at the top. I decided that the envelope stock should be the same colour as the rest of my branding, as this will make the letter stand out in the post and less likely to be lost amongst other letters.

Website The layout of the website is clear and concise. I chose to use a simple and structural layout with a white background so not to distract from the images of my portfolio. I used Cargo Collective to design the website, as I didn’t feel like my coding abilities were strong enough to build a site from scratch.

Social Media As I use Instagram a lot to follow other creatives and keep informed on up to date lettering and design work, I thought that creating my own ‘designstagram’ would be extremely beneficial as it will be promoting my work through another platform. Branding wise, I created a logo variation for the profile picture.
