A journey of pure pampering, Catherine Gordon experiences a relaxing facial full of the moisturizing and restorative properties of hemp seed oil

For someone who had always prioritized relaxing by the pool or having a soothing massage while on vacation, enjoying a rejuvenating facial was going to be a whole new pampering experience. So, I was excited to try the Cannabi7 facial treatment at The Royal Sands Spa, especially as it included the buzzy skincare ingredient of the moment - cannabis sativa seed oil. I was also curious to find out what hemp-derived ingredients can do, and why this power plant facial promised to leave my skin looking radiant and refreshed.

The Royal Sands Spa is always looking for innovative products for their treatments, and the Cannabi7 product line, by Spanish skincare brand Ainhoa, is not only vegan, it isn’t tested on animals and is formulated by 97 percent natural and organic ingredients. It contains cannabis sativa seed oil, which is derived from the seeds of the hemp plant and doesn’t contain CBD which is usually associated with the natural highs found in the leaves of the plant. Loaded with vitamins, minerals and antiinflammatory antioxidants, it soothes redness, dry skin and fine lines.

Para alguien que siempre ha preferido descansar junto a la alberca o tener un masaje relajante en sus vacaciones, disfrutar de un tratamiento facial rejuvenecedor iba a ser una experiencia totalmente nueva y placentera. Así es que, me sentía emocionada de probar el tratamiento facial Cannabi7 en The Royal Sands Spa, especialmente porque incluía el ingrediente del momento para el cuidado de la piel – aceite de semillas de Cannabis sativa. También tenía curiosidad de conocer lo que los ingredientes derivados del cáñamo pueden hacer y por qué este facial de plantas energéticas promete dejar mi piel con un aspecto radiante y rejuvenecido.

On arrival at the spa, I completed the luxury hydrotherapy circuit - sauna, steam, jacuzzi, power shower - which is vital in cleansing and preparing your skin before a facial. I reclined on a bed, with soft lighting and music and my therapist Carmen took over. I soon realized that a facial is not just a beauty treatment, it is also about relaxing and incorporates plenty of shoulder and neck massage. Ninety minutes of heaven followed, a journey of deep cleansing, exfoliating, toning, face masks, emulsion, oils and creams. Yes, the facial includes cannabis oil, but also amber and apricot oils, plus moisturizing shea butter. As Carmen worked through the different stages of the facial, and each velvety-soft layer of fragrant oil or cream was applied, I could feel my skin being restored from tired and dull to refreshed and renewed.

After the facial, I felt pampered to the extreme and incredibly serene and relaxed. Looking in the mirror, my skin looked visibly softer and smoother, moisturized, and glowing. Seeing such instant and impressive results, I quickly vowed to have facials in the future. As a once-amonth beauty staple, they are a great supplement to any beauty regimen. Facials increase circulation and renew skin cells, help with antiaging and encourage relaxation by focusing the breathing. Using steam and deep cleansing, Carmen cleared the city dirt from my pores and paid particular attention to lessen fine lines around my eyes and mouth.

The Cannabi7 facial was a definite confidence booster, and I left feeling like I’d had an inner and outer beauty boost. “This facial nourishes your skin, hydrates your face and makes the skin smoother, and it protects it too,” explains Spa Manager Paola Cirerol, “It pampers your skin, as a massage pampers your body, when you take a facial, you pamper your face and when the therapist massages your head, where you have a lot of nerve endings, it is very soothing.”

Izquierda y arriba, cremas y aceites usados durante el facial contienen aceite de semillas de Cannabis sativa, ámbar, aceite de chabacano y mantequilla de karité hidratante generalmente se asocia con los efectos causados por las hojas de la planta. Al llegar al spa, completé el lujoso circuito de hidroterapia– sauna, vapor, jacuzzi, regadera de alta presión – el cual es importante para limpiar y preparar su piel antes de la aplicación del facial. Me recosté sobre una cama, con luz tenue y música suave y mi terapeuta Carmen se hizo cargo. Pronto me di cuenta que un facial no sólo es un tratamiento de belleza, también se trata de relajarse e incorpora mucho masaje de hombros y cuello. Siguieron 90 minutos de placer, un viaje de limpieza profunda, exfoliación, tonificación, mascarillas, emulsión, aceites y cremas. Sí, el facial incluye aceite de cannabis, pero también aceites de ámbar y chabacano, así como mantequilla hidratante de karité. Mientras Carmen trabajaba las diferentes etapas del facial, aplicaba en cada una de ellas una capa suave de aceite o crema aterciopelada y fragante, podía sentir que mi piel se restauraba, pasando de cansada y sin brillo a refrescada y renovada.

Después del facial, me sentía consentida al extremo e increíblemente serena y relajada. Observando al espejo, mi piel lucía más suave y tersa, hidratada y brillante. Viendo resultados instantáneos e impresionantes, rápidamente me propuse hacerme faciales en el futuro. Como un elemento básico de belleza de una vez al mes, son un gran complemento para cualquier régimen de belleza. Los tratamientos faciales aumentan la circulación y renuevan las células de la piel, rejuvenecen y fomentan la relajación al enfocar la respiración. Usando vapor y la limpieza profunda, Carmen eliminó la suciedad de la ciudad de mis poros y puso especial atención en disminuir las arrugas finas alrededor de mis ojos y boca.

El facial Cannabi7 fue definitivamente un refuerzo de confianza, y salí sintiéndome como si hubiera tenido un impulso de belleza interior y exterior. “Este facial nutre tu piel, hidrata tu cara y hace tu piel lucir más suave, y también la protege,” explica la Gerente del Spa Paola Cirerol, “El facial consiente tu piel, así como un masaje consiente tu cuerpo, cuando tomas un facial, consientes la cara y cuando el terapeuta masajea tu cabeza, donde tienes muchas terminales nerviosas, es muy relajante.”
