RUNDLE remembers The Rundle College community was shocked and deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Rundle College graduate Harman Boparai ’10 on August 7, 2015. Harman was going into his final year at Mount Royal University with a major in business. During and after high school he continued to play basketball, hockey and Tae Kwon-Do, where he received his black belt designation. Harman's magnetic, vibrant personality and contagious smile will be dearly missed.
TKW Foundation 1st Annual Leopard Print Gala
The Toni Kohn-Woodward Foundation was set up in loving memory by the Kohn family and Toni’s husband Stephen, to honour Toni’s passion of bringing beauty, love and light to everyone and everything she touched. Empowering young women to live their best life was a cause close to Toni’s heart. Thanks to the support of our community and the enormous success of the inaugural Leopard Print Gala, this cause will be carried on for generations to come, keeping Toni’s legacy alive. Before Toni’s passing, she had become involved with Urban Fitness 911, a non-profit organization in Los Angeles, created to address the disparity of health and fitness in low-income communities. UF911 has opened a housing initiative in Los Angeles, supporting young women at risk. Because of Toni’s dedication, UF911, has named it “The Toni Kohn House”. Inspired by Urban Fitness 911’s Toni Kohn House, The Kohn Family and The Toni Kohn-Woodward Foundation is determined to open their own Toni Kohn Houses in major cities throughout Canada. The first one being here in Calgary, through proceeds raised at the Leopard Print Gala. Thank you to more than 650 guests who gathered at the Telus Convention Centre on Oct 24, 2015 to remember Toni. We are so proud to announce that we have committed over $1.3 MILLION to help young local women at risk. Together, we will change the lives of generations. Thank you so much for all your support in honouring Toni’s legacy.
The Kohn Family, and The Toni Kohn-Woodward Foundation would like to thank the support of the Rundle Community. There were many Alumni, Families and Faculty in attendance at the Gala, and we couldn’t have had such a successful evening without our volunteers, many of them being alumni, teachers and administrative staff at Rundle College. We are all so grateful for everyone’s continued support. On June 11th, we hosted a spin fundraiser, “Toni’s Ride”, in honour of Toni’s birthday, and our first Toni Kohn-Woodward Charity Golf Tournament will be held in September.
