Executive talks

“Rethinking business models – the international competitive advantage of the future” Swiss SMEs are masters of optimizing innovative products and efficient processes – but there is still ongoing margin pressure. For this reason, your international competitive advantage is a smart business model that addresses rapid technological and societal changes in your target markets and creates new sources of revenue. Prominent players from important export industries share their thoughts and experiences on the topic and discuss how they respond within their own businesses as well as what opportunities and dangers they see.

FOOD

“Why Ricola now has a lab” Ricolab is the Ricola Groupʼs new independent future laboratory. Based on Ricolaʼs background, it develops new business areas outside of the brand and the industry with a focus on new technologies and business models. Initiator and CEO Eva Richterich leads a discussion about the vision and the goal of the “lab” and provides a look into the set-up, operations, values and people. She offers a no-nonsense discussion that promises to provide openness and inspiration. Eva Richterich is a company founder and manager originally from the culture sector – and a member of Ricolaʼs board of directors. EVA RICHTERICH CEO, Ricolab

INDUSTRY

“Changes in contemporary corporate structures – enabling organizations to meet customer needs” Corporate structures that stay the same for years and years are a thing of the past. To enable the organization to optimally meet customer demands, companies need to regularly review and adjust their corporate structure. One important success factor is not overstraining the organization. Marcel Pawlicek has been with Burckhardt Compression Gruppe Schweiz for 35 years, where he began his career in 1979 as an apprentice. In 2011, he became CEO of the company after spending three years as the head of design & manufacturing. Burckhardt Compression AG originated with the Sulzer-Burckhardt machine factory and today employs around 2,100 people and operates in more than 80 countries. MARCEL PAWLICEK CEO, Burckhardt Compression AG

LEASING

“Digitalization and innovative business models” (in English) As a result of developments in the premium segment of the bed industry, Elite discovered an opportunity in the hospitality sector. Instead of selling beds, Elite leases them. A sensor-based technology allows the company to track bed usage and charge accordingly. François Pugliese started his career in the automotive industry, where he earned an expert degree in the areas of finance and controlling and later became a finance director. In 2006, he purchased Elite – a company with a hundred-year history – and developed it into a high-end bed manufacturer by combining cutting-edge materials and innovative services. FRANÇOIS PUGLIESE CEO, Elite SA

SPORTS

“How does Vladimir Petković deal with change? What are the significant factors in his decision-making process?” Presented by Credit Suisse AG Vladimir Petković has been the head coach of the Swiss national soccer team since 2014, where he and his team have seen several successes together. As a coach, his role is similar to that of an entrepreneur. His work shares the aspects of coaching, picking a good team, situational intervention during the game, adapting to the market, etc. How does he manage these things, and what are the significant factors in his decision-making process? VLADIMIR PETKOVIĆ Head Coach, Swiss national soccer team

E-COMMERCE

“Even the most innovative business model must constantly reinvent itself” In search of new target groups and the goal of intensifying existing customer relationships, BLACKSOCKS (in addition to the online subscription service) is developing a further order button close to the customer – namely in his wardrobe – right where his need arises and the purchase decision is made: Order socks at the push of a button in the wardrobe. After studying business administration at the University of St. Gallen, the native of Biel worked as a marketing and communications consultant before co-founding BLACKSOCKS in 1999. Since then, the Internet pioneer has been an entrepreneur. SAMY LIECHTI Founder, BLACKSOCKS SA
