Both our career path is in School sport and that’s how we met. We were working in School Sport Directorate as contract workers but based in different Education District Offices. Thabang resigned from the department to go join a company called DREAMFIELDS projects.
We saw each other again in 2012, when he came to our District Offices to build private sector-government partnership to develop sustainable Football in primary schools. We started dating in May 2012.
HOW WE KNEW THINGS WERE GETTING SERIOUS?
Dude started hinting marriage when we were 3 months into the relationship. I did not take him seriously at the time, obviously! Six months into the relationship he proposed, guy had the ring and all, got on one knee and asked me to be his forever and I said YES!!!
SPECIAL PART OF OUR WEDDING
It has to be our wedding vows and rings.
MOTTO OR DAILY PERSONAL MANTRA
I know the best way to get things done is through action.
WHEN DID WE JOIN THE DEPARTMENT OF SACR?
• Mr. Ramaboya

o 2011 – 2013 – Dreamfields Project
o 2013 – to date – DSACR - SPO
• Mrs. Ramaboya
• 2008 - 2016 (School Sport Contract worker)
• 2017 – to date (Assistant Librarian)
HOW WE BALANCE WORK AND FAMILY TIME
To be honest, it’s quite difficult. Simply because my wife has a sport background, I always take advantage of my family time and do more work. The past 6 years I was studying, then it was extra difficult because work and studying is always demanding.
But I must say, I’m a very lucky man. My wife did an extremally good job in keeping the family intact with our values.
So, we strive towards creating a daily routine and sticking to it, that is setting boundaries between working hours and family time.
CHALLENGING PART OF WORKING TOGETHER IN THE SAME DEPARTMENT
We work in different directorates, as such it’s not a major issue, but for the fact that we know each other’s work schedules and process, it creates no room to lie a bit to have one beer with friends after work or event. Or even worse, having all your colleagues contact numbers, when your phone dies we can still find you… LOL!
TO CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT WORKING IN SACR
As much as it’s not a major issue, we would love our colleagues to see us as colleagues with our own capabilities not “Ke monna wa…” or Ke mosadi wa…”
PROUDEST MOMENTS IN THE DEPARTMENT
Lebogang “Joining Library Information and Services Team”
Thabang “For me, is for the department being able for my Honours Degree in Developmental Studies which I completed with Wits University.”
KINDS OF MUSIC I HAVE IN MY PLAYLIST
I have lots, Amapiano, R’nB, Gospel, Soul and of course Limpopo music, I am after all a Pedi Makoti. Amapiano, Afropop mostly Big Zulu and Makhadzi.
IF WE WERE TO WRITE A BOOK ABOUT HOW WE MET, WE WOULD YOU NAME IT?
Oooh yes, I agree with my wife there. And I know most people will automatically say it’s a No No, but for us……. we have a lot to say about Mjolo in the workplace...
GREATEST CHALLENGE WE HAD TO OVERCOME IN OUR MARRIAGE
Two pillars of any relationship, Lack of communication and trust.
We do not have a favourite hangout; we are the kind likes to try out new places all the time. The most important thing is to spend quality time together.
We got married on the 31 October 2013 at Home Affairs and our wedding was on the 02 November 2013. A whole 9 years together as husband and wife, going on 10 years this year 2023.
How we celebrate our anniversaries differs on each year, sometimes we would go on vacation, out to dinner or simply stay home, celebrating with our kids.
What’s important is we are together on those two important dates of our lives.
I know I always fight with my wife around this time of the year because am a typical guy who believes that love is celebrated every day or every moment you can get. As much as we see more people celebrate it and of which my wife wants to join them, I just make sure I’m home with her and we debate about love in general, and that gives me more insight at which level is she at now on love, so I can improve.
• Love for our kids
• Soft hearts
• Forgiven
First and foremost, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all SACR colleagues in 2023.
I hope you all had a joyous and restful holiday season with your loved ones and that this year becomes even more fruitful for you all.
Before we dive into all of the work and goals we need to complete this year, let us take a moment to reflect on our work, whether in the work space or personally, and give ourselves a pat on the back for making such great strides.
I would like to thank each and every one of you for your unwavering support and for helping solidify our department’s core values. Keeping this in mind, let us use the renewed energy from our previous achievements to propel ourselves forward and make this a prosperous season for us.
The term “Kaizen” should be the year’s theme. This is a Japanese philosophy of never-ending improvement. Every day is an opportunity to improve, even if it is only by 1%, a small step, or baby steps. Because it’s not about being “invincible,” but about being unstoppable in every way.
We tend to be our own worst critic. We are so hard on ourselves every chance we get, and sometimes, we overlook the things we should be proud of.
After spending 14 days loving on yourself and doing things for YOU, you’re going to fall deeper in love with yourself. We’re taking ourselves on min wellness dates (think fitness breaks and movement goals), treating ourselves to our favorite things, and taking the time to do what we love.
Your first task is to create a mixtape-like playlist for yourself, and then listen to it! Think of it like your self-love anthems for February!
You can do this challenge anytime in Feb the dates can line up, and you can start any time you want! This is your self-love challenge, so do what works for you!!
Let’s do #dateyourseLfchaLLenge !!

By: Koketso RaleteleThe year of women in sports kicks off with a bang starting us off with the U/19 Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup. I had the pleasure of being part of the audience, witnessing the ferocity of such athleticism from the young group of women.
Sixteen teams participated in the regional qualifiers across Asia, Europe, East Asia-Pacific (EAP) and Africa. With the following teams participating in the tournaments; Australia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, USA, England, Pakistan, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Indonesia, Ireland, New Zealand, West Indies, India, Scotland, South Africa, and the UAE. Rounding us up with 41 matches that took place from Saturday, 14 January 2023 and the finals on Sunday, 29 January 2023.
We’ve seen just how fierce and meteoric the rise of women’s cricket has been over the last decade. If anything, these tournaments have highlighted that perfectly. On the 14th of January 2023 was the first day of the cricket tournament in collaboration with the ICC and Cricket SA, hosted at the Willowmoore Stadium in Benoni. The air at the stadium was filled with such frenzy, as audiences from across the globe came together to give these women support.
Having little to no knowledge of the sport prior to the tournament, or interest that is, I am happy to say that has changed. I got to witness such passion and vigour, on and off the field, that I couldn’t help but feel as though I was emulating them. Eagerly ready to see just how far each team would go, and suddenly having picked my favourite team.
The beginning of the Super Six took place from 21 January 2023 at the NWU Oval and J.B. Marks Oval respectively and the J.B. Marks Oval hosting the finals and semi-finals in Potchefstroom. Unfortunately, the team I was rooting for most (outside of our very own) did not make it to the semi-finals. However, let it be known that India and New Zealand will face off in the first-ever ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup semi-final on Friday, 27 January 2023 and both teams are thrilled at the opportunity that awaits them in Potchefstroom. In a contest worthy of the final itself, England and Australia will square off as well in the second semifinal of the inaugural ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Potchefstroom on Friday, 27 January 2023 afternoon. Now we wait in anticipation to see who will make it to the finals and come on top as victorious.

Before you get working on the vision board, sit back and imagine your dream life. What would you love to achieve in 2023? How do you want to feel?
Creating a vision board can be fun and easy. Engage with your creative, playful self. You don’t need to overthink the process. Your own vision board is for you and you only, so there’s no one you need to impress with it.
• Start with a big goal: Begin by thinking about a big goal that you want to achieve in 2023. For example, starting a business.
• Break down your big goal: Once you have a big-picture goal in mind, break it down into smaller, achievable goals. For example, if your big-picture goal is to start your own business, your smaller goals might include completing a business plan, finding funding, and hiring employees.
• Make your goals specific and measurable: To ensure that your goals are achievable, make them specific and measurable. For example, instead of setting a goal to "lose weight," set a goal to "lose 10 pounds in 6 months."
• Set a timeline: To keep yourself accountable, give each goal a timeline. This will help you stay on track and make sure you are making progress toward your goals.
• Make them personal: Your vision board should reflect your unique goals and aspirations, so make sure that the goals are truly yours. Don’t worry about what others would think and who you want to impress. The goals should make you feel genuinely excited and feel close to your heart. The more personal your vision board is, the more meaningful it will be to you.
• Don’t aim for perfection: It’s okay if you don’t have a long list of goals yet. Quality over quantity. You can add more goals later but don’t pick them to just fill up space.
Now that you've set out your goals, start looking for images that represent them. These will serve as your daily visual reminder, so pick images you love to look at. Is there something about a particular image that captures your dreams and goals perfectly? Save it to your board It's best to choose images that include people doing the activities you'd like to try, images of the items you're saving for, and even links to books you'd like to buy. And don't worry too much about organizing your board just yet that bit comes next.
Now that your board is taking shape, include some words to get your mind thinking positively. Adding captions under your images is a great way to remind yourself why you chose those photos.
You can also fill your vision board with words that reaffirm how you'd like to feel when you start each day. They can be singular words or inspiring quotes. Read them back to yourself to see how they make you feel. The human brain can change even into adulthood, so the more we read and memorize positive statements, the easier it is to recall and act on them later.
Now you have a beautiful vision board filled with inspiring words and achievable goals to work towards every day. Study it closely and do what you can to bring those dreams to life.
Remember, life can change direction at any moment, so think of your vision board as a living thing and make changes to it when you need to. If you've been successful at manifesting a goal, consider removing it from your board. Or treat your vision board like a checklist and add a tick beside each item as you complete it. No matter how you mark off your achievements, don't forget to celebrate them!
erve your sweetheart a meal that will make him or her fall in love with you all over again.
— Type of steak. We love using a thick-cut ribeye in this recipe, but if you prefer a different cut, you can still use the air fryer! Just be sure to adjust the time according to the thickness of your steak.
— Your compound butter. We love the combination of chives, parsley, rosemary, and thyme with the minced garlic here, but if you want to switch it up, you can use any combination of soft and hard herbs that you like. Others that might be particularly delicious include oregano, basil, or even sage.
— Use a meat thermometer. The best way to tell if your steak is properly cooked is with a meat thermometer—we highly recommend.
• 4 tbsp. butter, softened
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 2 tsp. freshly chopped parsley
• 1 tsp. freshly chopped chives
• 1 tsp. freshly chopped thyme
• 1 tsp. freshly chopped rosemary
• 1 (2 lb.) bone-in ribeye
• Kosher salt
• Freshly ground black pepper
Step 1
In a small bowl, combine butter and herbs. Place in center of a piece of plastic wrap and roll into a log. Twist ends together to keep tight and refrigerate until hardened, 20 minutes.
Step 2
Season steak on both sides with salt and pepper.
Step 3
Place steak in basket of air fryer and cook at 400° for 12 to 14 minutes, for medium, depending on thickness of steak, flipping halfway through.
Step 4
Top steak with a slice of herb butter to serve.
Kings of Joburg follows the Masire brothers (played by Shona and Zolisa Xaluva) – who run Johannesburg's criminal underworld – as they navigate a supernatural family curse and a tangled web of betrayal which threatens to destroy them. The cast features actors such as Tsholo Matshaba, Thembi Seete, Cindy Mahlangu, and Buhle Samuels. The story takes place in the town of Joburg, where two brothers are the town’s rulers. They’re viewed as spooky felons. Simon Masire, the undisputed lord of the underworld, on the other hand, grabs everyone’s attention whenever he speaks. His younger brother, Mo Masire, was once a criminal lord, but he is now on the run from his past. To save his sibling, Mo came dangerously close to losing his own life. His martyrdom remained unreported, however, because he was abandoned behind the jail bars before he had a chance to try.
The Masire brothers’ criminal empire in Johannesburg is under threat from a magical curse and some disastrous betrayals, but they are standing their ground.
The compelling, inspiring, (often comic) coming-of-age story of Trevor Noah, set during the twilight of apartheid and the tumultuous days of freedom that followed.
One of the comedy world's brightest new voices, Trevor Noah is a light-footed but sharp-minded observer of the absurdities of politics, race and identity, sharing jokes and insights drawn from the wealth of experience acquired in his relatively young life. As host of the US hit show The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, he provides viewers around the globe with their nightly dose of biting satire, but here Noah turns his focus inward, giving readers a deeply personal, heartfelt and humorous look at the world that shaped him.
Noah was born a crime, son of a white Swiss father and a black Xhosa mother, at a time when such a union was punishable by five years in prison. Living proof of his parents' indiscretion, Trevor was kept mostly indoors for the first years of his life, bound by the extreme and often absurd measures his mother took to hide him from a government that could, at any moment, take him away.
A collection of eighteen personal stories, Born a Crime tells the story of a mischievous young boy growing into a restless young man as he struggles to find his place in a world where he was never supposed to exist. Born a Crime is equally the story of that young man's fearless, rebellious and fervently religious mother - a woman determined to save her son from the cycle of poverty, violence and abuse that ultimately threatens her own life.
Whether subsisting on caterpillars for dinner during hard times, being thrown from a moving car during an attempted kidnapping, or just trying to survive the life-and-death pitfalls of dating in high school, Noah illuminates his curious world with an incisive wit and an unflinching honesty. His stories weave together to form a personal portrait of an unlikely childhood in a dangerous time, as moving and unforgettable as the very best memoirs and as funny as Noah's own hilarious stand-up. Born a Crime is a must read.
