Greenie’sGreetings
WithDirectorMikeGreen"Good evening everyone and welcome back to the Premier Plus Stadium for tonight's Pitching-In Northern Premier League Midland Division game."
Today we extend a warm welcome to the Players, Officials and Supporters of Coleshill Town Football Club and we hope your brief stay with us here in St Neots is an enjoyable one.
What a difference seven days can make in football. After the exuberance and highs of our stunning comeback against Shepshed Dynamo on the Saturday came the disappointment of a 4-0 drubbing at Chasetown on the following Tuesday evening. At this point I'd just like to thank all those hardy, loyal supporters who made the trip to cheer on the lads and I'm sorry that you guys didn't have much to cheer about that evening. This defeat was followed up by another long journey on Saturday as we headed to the West Midlands to face Sporting Khalsa. Despite an improved display from the team we once again returned home pointless on a day when results involving teams around us went in our favour but we couldn't take advantage . Tough times as we seek to gain points and get out of the danger zone at the wrong end of the table but we stick at it, keep working hard and keep chipping away. We're all in this together, on and off the pitch and I know you, our brilliant supporters will play your part off pitch with your unwavering support.

GOOD EVENING AND A WARM WELCOME TO OUR VISITORS COLESHILL TOWN WHO VISIT US AT THEPREMIERPLUSSTADIUMFORTHEFIRSTTIME
Our two sides met for the first time at Coleshill in September last year – not once but twice midweek in eight days! It would have been twice in six days but for the rearrangement enforced by the untimely death of the Queen. The result of these meetings was two victories for this evenings’ visitors but with contrasting matches. The first was a scheduled league fixture and was our first away from home midweek in our new league apart from our more local trip to Yaxley. We did not perform well and were well beaten 4-0. However, our second midweek trip to the Midlands in the FA Trophy saw a much better performance and our lads twice came from behind before losing to a goal three minutes from time. However, two subsequent trips to the Birmingham area have seen us lose 6-0 at Sutton Coldfield and 4-0 at Chasetown. Back to today and our first home game since our second half comeback against ShepshedDynamothatsawussnatchawell-deservedpointinathrilling3-3draw. Backtothiseveningandourvisitorswillhopetobuildonaverysuccessfulstartto2023which featured three wins and a draw in five outings, Their one reversal was at Gresley where they lost 1-0 but league victories over Sutton Coldfield and Sporting Khalsa and a good draw away at Corby Town plus a Birmingham Cup victory over Coventry City will have boosted their confidence. Before Saturday and their visit from Loughborough Dynamo they were sixth in theleaguetablejustoutsidetheplayoffplaces, sotheyareateaminform. Our recent defeat at Chasetown ended a run of four matches undefeated since Boxing Day so we look for a return to that form this evening. On Saturday our lads are here again when Sutton Coldfield are our visitors followed by three away matches at Daventry Town, Spalding United and DerehamTown.

After 58 minutes with St Neots trailing 1-2 Dan Barton beat two players and was unceremoniously upended by two home defenders inside the home penalty area. As the visitors awaited the Referee’s whistle, Mr Forest from Halesowen waved play on to deny the visitors an obvious spot kick. It was frustrating for the youngster who was injured in the tackle and had to be replaced, for it was his first match back after missing the last seven games due to an injury picked up in the first league match. From that point on both sides adopted an attacking style of play and although St Neots pulled a goal back to level the scores it was the home side that snatched the late winner. It was the third time in the past four seasons that St Neots have exited the FA Trophy at the first hurdle. Without regulars’ goalkeeper Jamie Greygoose and skipper Callum Anderson both injured St Neots also rested George Hoddle and Robbie Mason, and into their places came Barton, Joe Tarpey, Andre Hasanally and CambridgeUnitedloangoalkeeperTomFinch.
St Neots began well with Trey Charles having two early chances – the first set up by Charlie Stallard – and although his pace saw him clear of the defence home keeper Paul Hathaway blocked with his legs, and the second a snapshot into the side netting. Then the home side settled and began to dominate the attacking play. Tom Finch was quickly in action saving full length from Isia Marsilla and then Josh Willis headed narrowly over the bar from a corner. The pressure paid off after 14 minutes when Kia Tonge was left unmarked to head home the opening goal from a right wing cross. St Neots tried to respond, and Andre Hasanally saw a free kick comfortably gathered by Hathaway, but it was the home side in the ascendancy as a through pass from Josh Willis freed Kia Tongetoslothomehissecondgoalafter36minutes.Again,StNeotsralliedand after their neatest attacking move of the first half four minutes before the break Manny Osei shot disappointingly over the bar. NORTHERN PREMIER LEAGUE – MIDLAND DIVISION
St Neots Town 3 Shepshed Dynamo 3
St Neots staged a magnificent recovery to score three goals in a ten minutes spell just before the final whistle to claim an unlikely but thoroughly deserved league point in their first match for three weeks. The match had looked to be a carbon copy of the first meeting of the two sides just eight weeks ago when Shepshed had sprinted into a 3-0 half time lead. On that occasion St Neots had managed just a single Trey Charles goal in reply but on this occasion a Charles penalty was the springboard for an outstanding response. Two further late goals earned St Neots a valuable reward, but with Daventry winning their bottom of the table scrap with Yaxley, St Neots returned to nineteenth place in the league table. With the victorious Cambridge United loanees unavailable for selection there were just two team changes with skipper Callum Anderson back from injury to replace George Hoddle and Robbie Mason was recalled in place of Dan Barton.
In an uninspiring first half St Neots created two early chances as from a corner by Liam Hook, Trey Charles fired in a low shot inside the near post that visiting keeper Brandon Ganley saved at full stretch, and Manny Osei tested the keeper but they were almost the only first half occasions that the visiting custodian was in serious action. Shepshed then produced the perfect response scoring twice with their only serious attempts on the home goal in the first half hour. After 15 minutes Toby Ritzema turned in the box to fire home a fierce drive in off the underside of the crossbar to open the scoring, and on the half hour from a James Sneddon corner, visiting skipper Jake Betts was left unmarked to head home to extend the lead. Zayn Hakeem had two chances to further extend the lead but was twice off target as the home defence afforded him too much room and St Neots keeper Jamie Greygoose produced an important save from another Sneddon corner punching away under pressure. Then a minute before the break John King exchanged passes with Reece Morris to add a third goal and leave St Neots with a mountain to climb.

SHEPSHEDDYNAMOFC (H)28-01-2023
Just one team change at the break with Jon-Paul Duncliffe replacing Manny Osei seemed to transform St Neots. Robbie Mason shot over when well placed and both sides had offside efforts chalked out. Substitute Kairo Edwards squandered the visitors’ best chance of extending their lead heading wide from close range, and Ganley did well to save from Charles at the second attempt. As the match went into the last eleven minutes St Neiots were awarded a penalty when Aaron Smith was brought down by Betts and the reliable Trey Charles gave St Neots hope with the perfect penalty kick.
Five minutes later substitute JP Duncliffe exchanged passes wide on the right and cut in to score with a low shot at the near post and now it was all St Neots. Charles was hauled down in the area and the Referee waved away appeals for a penalty, but St Neots were not to be denied. A shot was scraped off the goal line by a Shepshed defender but only as far as Trey Charles and he gratefully accepted the opportunity to claim his eighteenth goal of the season to secure his side a point.

NORTHERN PREMIER LEAGUE – MIDLAND DIVISION
Chasetown 4 St Neots Town 0
After their long 200 miles round midweek journey St Neots made a slow start to this match conceding an early goal to their hosts and gifting them a second on the half hour. Not an impressive first half then, but worse was to follow because St Neots hardly competed in a very poor second half performance and may have been lucky only to concede only two further goals to a very well organised host side. The two sides had met at the Premier Plus Stadium on the opening day of the league season and St Neots had snatched a point with a late goal in a 1-1 draw whilst reduced to ten men. Manager Pete Gill was extremely unhappy with the performance of his team and immediately ordered extra training prior to their next match also away in the Midlands at Sporting Khalsa.
There was little goalmouth action in the early stages of the game but Chasetown took the lead with the first goal attempt by either side after ten minutes. They won a left sided corner which was only partially cleared and when the ball was returned to the penalty area defender Kris Taylor was left unmarked to direct a header wide of the visiting goalkeeper. St Neots responded with Joe Rider seeing a shot blocked after neat work by Brandon Njoku and a lengthy Aaron Smith throw headed on was cleared off the line by a defender. However, St Neots attempt to get back into the game was further blunted by an uncharacteristic error by goalkeeper Jamie Greygoose who appeared to misread a back pass by a defender and his miskick gifted the simplest of finishes to home striker Ryan Boothe who made the score 2-0 on the half hour. Njoku looked to be the most likely visiting player to bother the home defence and he brought a save from the home keeper before attempting to play Trey Charles in but the striker was ruled narrowly offside. Home striker Boothe had two chances to extend his sides’ lead before the break but he fired his first effort high over the bar before shooting straight at Greygoose after a defensive error.
CHASETOWNFC (A)31-01-2023
What St Neots wanted was a positive response after the break but instead just four minutes after the restart they conceded a third goal as full back Ollie Hayward joined the home attack to add a third goal. Reduced to speculative shooting from distance both Rider and Charles had efforts comfortably saved and with Robbie Mason on for Njoku there was little progress for the visitors. After just six minutes on the pitch Mason picked up a second yellow card in successive matches as St Neots’ offered little in the shape of attacking play. They attempted to boost their approach with the introduction of substitute Manny Osei but the ball was too often in the St Neots half for their attacking ideas to be exploited. St Neots only serious second half attacking effort was a lengthy shot by Liam Hook comfortably gathered by the home keeper and had Jack Langston and Daniel O’Callaghan put simple looking chances away St Neots could have been overrun. O’Callaghan did see another effort rebound from the bar before Ryan Boothe rounded off the scoring three minutes from time.

John WalkerSporting Khalsa 2 St Neots Town 0
The West Midlands have become a no-go area for St Neots. Four trips to the Birmingham area have so far yielded no points, no goals scored and sixteen conceded. Their hosts last weekend was Sporting Khalsa, themselves struggling for form despite being fourth in the league table, because four of their last five league matches prior to St Neots’ visit had ended in draws. However, a goal in each half was sufficient to see them return to winning ways leaving St Neots still searching for a second away league victory this season. Without the injured Panny Boxer, St Neots were forced into leaving their strike duo of Trey Charles and Brandon Njoku on the bench, both recovering from midweek knocks, although they made second half substitute appearances. With Steve Sylvester unavailable, there was a return to the starting line-up for Robbie Mason and Manny Osei and a welcome return to the side for Charlie Stallard whose injury had kept him out of the side since 1st October – coincidentally the home match with Sporting Khalsa. The defeat might have been much greater but for a man-of-the-match performance by Saints keeper Jamie Greygoose who produced a string of outstanding saves.
He was first in action after just five minutes diving full length to turn a lengthy effort from Harry Cunningham around a goalpost. St Neots responded with a Callum Anderson close range effort that was blocked on the line by a defender and the home goalkeeper then had to smother at the feet of Manny Osei who had gone clear. St Neots best first half move came after 20 minutes when Joe Rider and Robbie Mason linked to set up Aaron Smith whose volley was comfortably gathered but from that point on in the first half the home team dominated. A James McGrady free kick was won in the air by Miracle Okafor forcing Greygoose into a second significant save and the same home player went past Greygoose, but the angle was too tight, and the opportunity wasted. It was Okafor again who was proving to be a major thorn in St Neots side, as he headed over the goal after a fine run by Toumani Sidibe and the pressure paid off for Khalsa three minutes before the break when a deflected shot by Sidibe gave the home side a half time lead.
SPORTINGKHALSAFC (A)04-02-2023
It was Okafor who continued the tormenting of the visiting defence upon the second half restart. He first beat two players on the left but saw his shot blocked and then the overworked Greygoose had to dive bravely at his feet after good work by McGrady. Charlie Stallard joined the St Neots attack to see a shot blocked by a defender and with almost an hour gone, St Neots Manager Pete Gill played his trump card sending on his two semi-fit strikers for Stallard and Mason. St Neots did seem to enjoy a greater share of the play after this change and Joe Rider had a looping header easily saved but the defining moment of the match came after 63 minutes when Miracle Okafor stamped his authority on the match as he picked his spot to claim Khalsa’s second goal after the visiting defence had failed to clear. Brandon Njoku tried hard to get his side going but when he was brought down on the edge of the area the free kick from Liam Hook was sent harmlessly over the bar.Two more saves by Greygoose from Sidibe and Okafor kept the score at a reasonable level but St Neots must know that a lack of credible openings in their attacking play is not going to enhance their chances of picking up much needed points.

COLESHILL TOWN HISTORY
Coleshill Town was founded in 1894 making them one of the oldest clubs in nonleague football and the oldest in Warwickshire.
Until 1964 Coleshill played mostly in junior leagues, but then local rivals Coleshill Hall Hospital F.C. folded and the cream of their players joined Town. As the standard improved, Coleshill joined the Mercian League and then the Combination in 1968 winning Division Two in 1969/70, and the Combination Cup in 1970.
Playing at the Memorial Park, the club needed its own ground to get promotion and in 1974 they moved to their present site Pack Meadow, due to the determination and dedication of Percy Hastings.
Promotion to the topflight of the Combination soon followed in 1975 and there they stayed, apart from one season in Division One, for more than thirty years. Coleshill’s greatest achievements during that time saw them as M.F.C. Premiership runners-up in 1983/84 and winning the Walsall Senior Cup in 1983. Other highlights included a run in the Birmingham Senior Cup in 1988/89 beating Birmingham City then holding Wolverhampton Wanderers to a draw. The replay at Molineux was against the Wolves first team including the outstanding young strikers Steve Bull and Andy Mutch.
The Colemen more than matched their Black Country opponents for over an hour. Although Town tired and conceded late goals they prevented Steve Bull from scoring.
Players at the time included Danny Hagen, the former Irish International who played in the UEFA. Cup Final for Wolves in 1972, but our greatest is without doubt Gary Shaw who was picked up by Aston Villa whilst playing for Coleshill as a sixteen-yearold.
In more recent times the club enjoyed the 1997/98 season under Martin Socket who led the side to the top of the Premiership before leaving to join Dr Martin’s VS Rugby.
OpponentSpotlight ColeshillTown
A succession of managers have come and gone, usually taking all the players with them. Mick Beadle steadily improved the side in the four years he was with the club, but former Kettering player and Bedworth Assistant Manager, Carl Adams was appointed manager in September 2008, and he led Coleshill to the Midland Combination Premiership Championship for the first time in the club’s history, clawing back a 22-point deficit and beating Highgate United to the title on goal difference, on the last day of the season.
Fifteen games into the new season Carl Adams stood down quoting family and work commitments the reason for his departure. Neil Kitching and Martin Socket were quickly installed as a joint management with the Reserve team that season winning the Challenge Bowl.
In October 2005 Coleshill were awarded Adult Standard Charter status by the football Association and in 2012 awarded Junior Standard Chartered Status.
For the season 2008/09 a new line up of Directors and Sectary took control of the club and commenced the process of stabilization. In 2011/12, Coleshill Town reserves won the MFC Reserve Division Two title and were runners up in the Challenge Bowl cup final, in 2013/14 finished runner ups in the MFL Reserve Division One and in 2015/16 were crowned champions of the Reserve League and were runners-up in their League Cup.
In 2012/13 the club appointed Paul Casey mid-way through the season with the thankless task of saving the club from relegation with two games to go this task was achieved and the U18s finished a credible third in the Floodlight League and were finalists in the Birmingham Youth Cup.
2013/14 was a record-breaking season, finishing fourth in the Midland Football Alliance the highest ever position in the club’s history breaking all previous win, goal scored records and Paul Casey took the team to the Fourth Round of the FA Vase narrowly missing out on victory in the Northeast at Dunston.
2014/15 was yet again another record-breaking season, finishing second in the newly formed Midland Football League breaking the 2013/14 season records for the highest ever position in the clubs history breaking all previous win, goal scored stats and he took the team to the Semi-Final of the Birmingham Senior cup missing out on a place in the final taking Birmingham City all the way to penalties.

2015/16 proved a little more difficult, with a new state of the art 3G pitch not completed until October, the first two months of the season the Coleman spent their time playing all game’s away from home. However, the team finished fifth in the league and reached the Fourth Round of the FA Vase and the Third Qualifying Round in the FA Cup.
2016/17 the development of players from feeder teams worked well with the first half of the season under Paul Casey consolidated performances in the league. Paul left before the Christmas period with assistant Manager Simon Lyons taking over the manager’s role. Under Simon we further consolidated performances narrowly missing promotion finishing in second place and reaching the Semi-Final of the FA Vase losing the aggregate tie over two legs to the eventual winners South Shields. The first home leg tie saw a record crowd of 3,465 at the Pack Meadow.
In 2017/18 ex Aston Villa player Cameron Stuart took over the reins along with his challenge to bring promotion to club, this he achieved along with an appearance at Walsall FC in the Midland Football League, League Cup final.
For the 2018/19 season the club enjoyed a successful season and challenged for a play-off place only to fade away in the final few games and with Covid -19 our push for a play-off position ended abruptly in the 2019/20 season, with Covid ending the season and 2020 -21 season with very few games played.
For the 2021/22 season the club was moved to the newly formed Step 4 Midlands Division in the Northern Premier League enjoying another record-breaking season finishing seventh, the highest league position ever achieved under the guidance of Cameron Stuart and his team.
For the 2022/23 season the aim is to be in the promotion/play-off positions.
In total at senior level and junior team status, we have a number of teams all supported by a professional and dedicated board of directors and volunteers who believe in developing and offering the ability for all to play the wonderful game at Coleshill Town Football Club.
