Δεν χρειαζεται να ακόυΣειΣ τό ελληνικότατό επιθετό τόυ, για να καταλάβεις ότι ο Simon Kassianides είναι Έλληνας. Το παρουσιαστικό του προδίδει από μόνο του την καταγωγή του… Το κινητό του, δε, φιλοξενεί ελληνικές μουσικές επιτυχίες, από Μπιθικώτση μέχρι Αλεξίου.

νιώθετε Έλληνας; Ναι, απολύτως! Το όνομά μου, άλλωστε, είναι Κασσιανίδης. Είχα τη δυνατότητα να το αλλάξω, πολλές φορές, κατά τη διάρκεια της καριέρας μου, αλλά δεν το έκανα.

Πώς διατηρείτε τη σχέση σας με την Ελλάδα; Έρχομαι κάθε καλοκαίρι στην Ελλάδα. Κάθε πρωί που ξυπνάω, ακούω ελληνική μουσική και συχνά μαγειρεύω ελληνικά φαγητά. Η γιαγιά μου μού έχει δώσει όλες τις μυστικές της συνταγές! Είναι αδύνατον να μη σχετίζομαι με αυτή τη χώρα. Αισθάνομαι Έλληνας και μεγάλωσα με ελληνικό τρόπο, μέσα σε μία οικογένεια με μεσογειακό ταμπεραμέντο, που ξεχείλιζε από πάθος! Τσακωνόμασταν με τους γείτονες, μιλούσαμε όλοι δυνατά και νιώθαμε πάντα «ζωντανοί».

Ποια μέρη επισκέπτεστε στην Ελλάδα, όταν έρχεστε; Σίγουρα την Αθήνα, γιατί εδώ ζουν οι συγγενείς μου. Τα καλοκαίρια επισκέπτομαι την Τήνο, τη Μύκονο και την Πάρο. Μάλιστα, από την Τήνο και την Πάρο είναι και η καταγωγή μου. Αλλά αγαπώ πάρα πολύ την Αθήνα. Η Αθήνα είναι μεν μία μεγάλη πόλη, διατηρεί όμως ζεστασιά και αμεσότητα. Αυτό είναι μοναδικό. Επίσης, τη θεωρώ και πολύ όμορφη πόλη -είτε είσαι στο Μοναστηράκι, είτε στην Κηφισιά, είτε στη Βουλιαγμένη, είναι μαγικά! ONE DOESN’T NEED TO HEAR HIS “gREEK-SOuNDINg” surname to come to the realisation that Simon Kassianides is Greek. his appearance alone betrays his origins… his mobile phone blasts Greek musical hits, from bithikotsi to Alexiou.

do you feel Greek? yes, absolutely! After all, my name is Kassianides. Although i’ve had several opportunities to change it throughout my career, i never did.

How do you maintain your relationship with Greece? i visit Greece every summer. i wake up each morning to the sound of Greek music and i often cook Greek food at home. My grandmother has given me all her secret recipes! it’s impossible not to relate to this country. i feel Greek and was raised in the Greek way, in a family with a Mediterranean temperament, brimming with passion! We would argue with the neighbours, speak in loud voices and always felt “alive”.

Which places do you like to visit in Greece? Definitely Athens, because i have relatives here. in summer, Tinos, Mykonos and Paros. i actually have roots in Tinos and Paros. but i really love Athens. Athens may be a big city, but it manages to retain a warmth and immediacy, which is unique. i also find it a very beautiful city - Monastiraki, Kifissia or Vouliagmeni, they are all magical!

Which role stands out from your body of work so far? There are two things to consider: the people you meet and if you establish relationships with them, and the great “stops” in your career. i made lifetime friends on the television series “Marvel’s Agents of S.h.i.E.l.D.” And

οι άνθρωποι που γνωρίζεις και δένεσαι μαζί τους, και οι μεγάλες «στάσεις» της καριέρας σου. Μέσα από την τηλεοπτική σειρά “Agents of S.h.i.E.l.D.”, έκανα φίλους ζωής. Όσον αφορά στις πιο σημαντικές συνεργασίες για την καριέρα μου, η συμμετοχή μου στην ταινία του James bond “Quantum of Solace”, ήταν πολύ σημαντική, όπως και ο ρόλος μου στην ταινία “unforgettable”, που θα προβληθεί μέσα στο 2016. Όσον αφορά στο “unforgettable”, είναι η πρώτη φορά που πρωταγωνιστώ σε μία μεγάλη κινηματογραφική παραγωγή, κάτι πολύ σημαντικό για μένα. Όμως, ας μην παραλείψω και τη σειρά how to Get Away with Murder, που έγινε τόσο δημοφιλής, ώστε να με αναγνωρίζουν διεθνώς! Γεγονός, βέβαια, λίγο παράξενο, ειδικά όταν το βιώνεις πρώτη φορά.

Βρίσκεστε στην Ελλάδα προσκεκλημένος της Wind running τeam, για να τρέξετε στον Μαραθώνιο της Αθήνας ως πρεσβευτής της Mda Hellas. Μιλήστε μου λίγο γι’ αυτό. Είναι μία πολύ τιμητική πρόσκληση για μένα. Γενικά, όταν μπορώ να συμμετέχω σε οποιαδήποτε ελληνική διοργάνωση και να διαφημίζω τη χώρα μου, το κάνω χωρίς δεύτερη σκέψη. Όπως σας είπα, θεωρώ ότι η Ελλάδα, τώρα, μας χρειάζεται περισσότερο από ποτέ. Και έχω ακόμα πολλά να κάνω εδώ. Σχεδιάζω να έρθω πολλές φορές στο προσεχές μέλλον για διάφορα projects.

Σας ενδιαφέρει ο εθελοντισμός γενικότερα; Δεν το έχω σκεφτεί συνολικά. Τώρα, μου πρότειναν να συμμετάσχω σ’ αυτή τη διοργάνωση και σε μία χρονική στιγμή που η Ελλάδα διανύει μία κρίσιμη φάση και το έκανα. Είναι ωραίο να προσφέρεις και να βοηθάς, οπότε ενδεχομένως να το έκανα πάλι. as for important collaborations in my career, my participation in James bond’s “Quantum of Solace” was very significant, as was my role in the upcoming feature film “unforgettable”, which will be released in 2016. “unforgettable” marked my first starring role in a cinematic production and was very important to me. but i must also mention the television series “how to Get Away with Murder”, which was such a massive success that i am now recognised all over the world! it’s a surreal experience, especially the first time it happens.

you are in Greece as a guest of the Wind running team, to participate in the athens Marathon as an ambassador for Mda Hellas. Can you tell us about that? it is an honour to have been invited. As a rule, when i am able to participate in a Greek event and promote my country, i do it without giving it a second thought. i believe that Greece needs us now more than ever. And i can do a lot more here. i’m planning to visit several times in the near future for various projects.

are you interested in volunteering in general? i haven’t really thought about it. The proposal to participate in this event came at a critical time for Greece and i agreed. it’s rewarding to offer assistance and help, however, so i would consider doing so again.
