Soulful Leadership!

Providing a perfect start to the year, Dr. Luz Longsworth, Senior Corporate Director for the Sandals Corporate University, and ‘Sifu’ Stewart Maxwell, a Reiki and Tai Chi Master, Yoga Instructor, and Massage Therapist, guided the Sandals Montego Bay Management team on a journey of renewed self-discovery. The leadership session was enriched with moments of reflection and healing through meditation.

The three-hour session featured mindfulness exercises designed to help the flagship’s leadership team quiet their minds, cultivate presence, and enhance both decision-making and interpersonal connections.

Additionally, the session aimed to reduce stress, heighten selfawareness, and build the resilience needed to navigate the challenges of the year ahead. By integrating moments of stillness with collaborative discussions, the Management team was able to align their personal values with organizational goals, empowering them to lead with authenticity and purpose.

A Winning Start

Sandals Tops USA Today’s 2025 Best All-Inclusive Caribbean Resorts

Sandals Resorts International has kicked off the new year with prestigious recognition, securing top honours in the Best AllInclusive Caribbean Resort category of USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for 2025.

The renowned luxury-included brand claimed two coveted spots in the top 10 rankings, underscoring its excellence in Caribbean hospitality.

Leading the charge is the newly opened Sandals Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, which debuted in 2024 and wasted no time slingshotting itself to the pinnacle of all-inclusive luxury in the region. The resort earned the number-one spot in the category.

“Set in its own private cove, Sandals Saint Vincent and the Grenadines boasts azure waters, breathtaking rainforests, and pristine whitesand beaches. Accommodations range from overwater villas to beachfront flats, complemented by 11 restaurants featuring cuisine from around the world, along with numerous bars and pools,” noted USA Today’s 10Best. Since its opening, the resort has also attracted a constellation of Hollywood stars and high-profile guests.

Meanwhile, the reimagined Sandals Dunn’s River captured the number-seven spot in the same category. Located on Jamaica’s stunning north coast, this 260-room luxury resort delivers elevated suite designs, and innovative culinary concepts.

What makes this recognition especially meaningful is the unique selection process of the Reader’s Choice Awards. Nominees are

chosen by travel experts and USA Today’s 10Best editors, with the final winners determined by the publication’s global readership.

These latest accolades reaffirm Sandals Resorts’ status as a leader in luxury all-inclusive hospitality, continuing to set the benchmark for excellence in the region.

“Made of Caribbean” Sandals Resorts Unveils

New Global Brand Campaign

Sandals Resorts recently announced the debut of “Made of Caribbean,” a global, multi-media advertising campaign developed by Leo Burnett. A pioneer of all-inclusive travel, Sandals and Beaches Resorts is ushering in a new brand direction of pure Caribbean expression, also unveiling an evolved visual identity developed in collaboration with Wolff Olins. The new platform is designed to inspire travelers through authenticity, expertise and a genuine connection to the islands.

“My family has called the Caribbean home for more than six generations and there is no one who knows or loves this region more. We are Caribbean. We believe the Caribbean connects us all, it’s part of our soul and we want to share these unique experiences and this joy with the world,” said Adam Stewart, Executive Chairman of Sandals Resorts.

The omni-channel campaign launched on December 28, 2024, spanning linear television, digital, print, social, and out-of-home advertising in key markets. As depicted in a new brand film narrated by Stewart, the vibrant soul, rich traditions, and natural beauty of the Caribbean set the tone for the campaign, highlighting the brands’ commitment to be a champion for the islands and its people.

Drawing from this heritage, the new work vividly captures the brands’ distinct approach to all-inclusive vacationing, offering more than the standard experience and emphasizing the warm spirit of family that has welcomed guests for over four decades. From thoughtfully crafted cuisine and design aesthetics to warm hospitality and curated adventures, “Made of Caribbean” is an open invitation to connect people to the real Caribbean.

The campaign kicks off with two captivating launch spots that showcase the truly unique facets of Sandals’ and Beaches’ offerings.

A BREW-TIFUL HACK

with Yanique Davis!

Assistant Executive Housekeeper at Sandals South Coast

Here’s a little secret for you: Enjoy the fresh scent of coffee beyond your morning cup! Used coffee grounds neutralize unwanted odors. Simply place bowls or sachets around your home.

Here’s a step-by-step approach from Yanique!

• Brew your coffee

Start by making a fresh pot of your favourite coffee, just like you would for a cozy morning ritual.

• Gather the goods

Once you’ve brewed that liquid gold, scoop out the used coffee grounds from the filter.

• Dish it out

Place those coffee grounds into small, open bowls or containers. Think of them as little coffee-powered odour fighters.

• Strategic deployment

Set these bowls in the areas where smoke smells are the strongest—whether it’s a room, your couch, or even your car.

• Let the magic happen

Now, sit back and relax. Let the coffee grounds work their magic preferably overnight to soak up those smoky vibes.

• Refresh the warriors

If the smell is being stubborn, simply swap out the old grounds for fresh ones and let them take another round in the ring.

Patsy Mae

Beaches Turks and Caicos Veteran

Bar Leader continues to serve with a smile

Providing leadership and support for any team within the hospitality industry takes patience and creativity. This aspect of leadership for Patsy-Mae Hendfield, Assistant Bar Manager at Beaches Turks and Caicos (BTC) is something that she was built to do.

Having had the opportunity of being mentored by leaders in the industry, Patsy-Mae has been empowered to groom others in the field. Her mission was built on her exposure to training and development, mentorship, and support for team members and their families.

Her incredible journey started in 1997 when she joined Beaches Turks and Caicos in the Stewarding Department. With the opportunities for growth and training in

(SCU) which saw her climbing the career ladder to supervisor and currently assistant manager. She said these programme offerings were achieved primarily due to the guidance from her mentor and former bar manager, Sam Hall.

“Mr Hall was the major driver for my professional development as he was able to identify in me the potential to grow within the industry and empowered me along with others to achieve our fullest potential. The leadership that he has shown to me is what I try to emulate for my team. This training has given me the career push that I needed to achieve financial stability for my family,” Hendfield noted.

Bar Manager Uton Graham, in describing Patsy-Mae shared, “she is the gem of the

different areas, Hendfield who had been involved in training in the Bar Department, was asked to serve on a training cohort at another resort for a short period. Upon her return to BTC, she was promoted to a bartender.

Her training continued, as she excelled in the many courses that were made available through the Sandals Corporate University

team. She is the one who is able to motivate and mobilize the team to achieve the challenging tasks. The supervisors within the department find it easy to share with her as she creates open and interactive channels of communication for team members and guests. She is meticulous and a team trainer which provides an opportunity for our department to always be on a developmental path with the many training programmes

and certificate courses that are offered.”

While identifying the strength of his team, Managing Director James McAnally shared, “Patsy-Mae depicts leadership in all that she does, especially with the younger team members. She has an open door policy and is one of the main trainers within her department. She is patient and thorough in how she carries out her assigned duties and still finds time to be an active ambassador for Sandals Foundation activities.”

One of her mentees within the department, bartender Simone Woodfine, shared, “Ms Patsy always encourages us to challenge ourselves to become better professionals. For me, I have tasked myself with completing a new course each week, and I am seeing where these training sessions have made me a better professional.”

The mother of five acknowledges her family as her biggest supporters and shares her family time with her children and four grandchildren. When asked what advice she would give to new team members entering the profession, she added, “This is the best resort that any new professional in the industry would want to start a career. The training opportunities that are available for all our team members are endless and therefore, team members have the opportunity to excel in their preferred areas. I’m grateful for the learning and development department leaders who will assist in empowering us to rise above the norm and become more qualified.”

Double Duty

Lennus Reid is the Duty Manager at Sandals Royal Curaçao, and when he’s off the clock, he’s on super dad duty! As he navigates the journey of parenthood, Lennus shares his experience in this heartfelt Q&A.

1. What is the most surprising or unexpected part of becoming a father, and how has it changed your perspective on life?

“That diapers are really expensive. But all jokes aside, you start to realize that time is very finite. There’s only so much hours, and minutes, and seconds in this life and I won’t get to spend all of them with him. But it’s kind of reassuring that a part of you will always exist in him. And that fills me with a lot of hope. So every time I see him, I’m reminded of my mortality. But it’s positive in a way. It’s reassuring that I have to make these moments count.”

2. How do you balance your new responsibilities as a parent with your professional life, and what have you learned about yourself in the process?

“Honestly, finding that balance is something I’m trying to fully achieve. I’m not there as yet. So I’m trying to be more intentional with my time. These moments are fleeting and go by fast, and building a community around you is very important. It does help the task a little bit, it makes things a little easier. However, it’s something I’m still trying to figure out.”

3. What is the one piece of advice or special message you’d like to share with your son when he grows up?

“The advice I would give to him is to just keep trying. If something doesn’t work out, just keep trying. Don’t give up on yourself. There’s always one more day.”

4. What is the one thing you said you would never do before you became a parent and have found yourself doing?

“That I wouldn’t let him what too much TV…. But I have learned I was so wrong. It can be a lifesaver when you need a few minutes to yourself.”

Fun Fact: Lennus has been with SCR since October 2024, but started with Sandals as a bellman in 2015!

Roxie fancies herself as a creative, writing and delivering her spoken word pieces.

Look Around

When I look around, all I saw was troubleknocking on our doors, trying to take over our souls.

Yet, don’t ever give in to its calling. Let’s try to choose the right ways and be guided by The Father.

Now, all I see is love. Unity. We live in harmony. Balance and perfection-synchronicity. Yes, that’s what I need to see.

One day, it will be our reality.
