SOUTH COAST
LipSync Battle
The LipSync Battle of the century saw the Sandals South Coast Red Dragons, Yellow Phoenix, and Green Lanterns go song for song, move for move, and, in some cases, wig for wig. The afternoon event saw all three teams coming in hot with music selections from various genres. In many cases team members were very sure they were watching the actual music videos as the choreography from each team were on point.

Rendition from the Isley Brothers, Vybz Kartel, Sista Scully and Micheal Jackson were just a tip of the iceberg. In the end, the Red Dragons proved that when it comes to lipsync battles, strength, fire, and the will to win run in their blood as they were named the champions.

Supervisory Training

As Sandals South Coast continues to demonstrate its commitment to leadership excellence, the resort recently completed its Supervisory Skills Training Programme. Taking Care of Business

Sandals Montego Bay Opens Doors To Pregnant Teens
Sandals Montego Bay provided the perfect change of scenery for 23 pregnant teens and teen mothers from the Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation during an International Women’s Day-inspired pink pride workshop. The workshop was aimed at reigniting flames of hope and possibility in a sub-section of youth who are oftentimes ostracized and ridiculed by society.

Sandals Montego Bay is deeply committed to empowering its team members with the knowledge and resources they need to thrive both personally and professionally. With this dedication in mind, the resort partnered with several leading banking institutions, Jamaica’s National Housing Trust, and the National Land Agency to host a one-day business expo. This initiative offered team members a valuable opportunity to gain insight and guidance on making informed decisions about investments, homeownership, and more—setting the stage for a brighter financial future, generational wealth, stability, and lasting peace of mind.

OCHI REGION
Support Committee treat
Members of the Beaches Ocho Rios Employee Support Committee embarked on an unforgettable day of relaxation, adventure, and great company, exploring the northeast and southeast coasts of the island, including Portland, St. Thomas, and Kingston.

The day began with soaking up the sun along the scenic shoreline, followed by indulging in delicious local cuisine, showcasing the region’s rich flavors. The adventure continued with a breathtaking tour of the iconic Trident Castle, where they marveled at its grandeur and historical charm.
As night fell, the group enjoyed a hilarious theatrical performance in the city, leaving them in stitches. And just when they thought the fun was over, a late-night KFC stop in the wee hours of the morning was the perfect way to wrap up a truly unforgettable day.

Women’s Day, ‘So Ochi’ style!
The International Women’s Day celebration at Sandals Ochi brought together an engaged audience of both male and female team members for a powerful discussion on critical social issues.
Andrew Blake, Parish Manager of Child Protection and Family Services (CPFSA), and Superintendent Sgt. Lisa Murphy led the interactive sessions, emphasizing the importance of rights and justice for both adults and children—whether at home, in social settings, or across society.
The discussions captivated the audience, tackling key topics such as violence against women, child protection, domestic abuse, and emotional intelligence. Through these meaningful conversations, the event reinforced the need for advocacy, awareness, and protection in all aspects of life.

Sandals Corporate University Signs MOU with prestigious Toronto Metropolitan University

The Sandals Corporate University (SCU) has taken a bold and inspiring step in the development of its team members by collaborating with yet another prestigious international institution, Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU).
On Friday, March 7, SCU signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Canada-based university at Sandals Montego Bay. This MOU aims to enhance academic and workforce development in hospitality, tourism, business and management fields through TMU’s Ted Rogers School of Management.
As part of this collaboration, both institutions will facilitate internships and placements at Sandals and Beaches Resorts while developing specialised executive training programmes to further strengthen the skills and expertise of team members.
Senior Corporate Director of the SCU, Dr. Luz Longsworth, highlighted that the MOU is already bearing fruit, with new projects in development.
“These initiatives will include an exciting suite
of courses on cutting-edge topics for our leaders and team members in areas such as digital innovation, strategic communication, mindfulness in leadership and big data in strategic decision-making,” Dr. Longsworth stated.
These initiatives are set to launch later this year.
Meanwhile, Provost and Vice President of Toronto Metropolitan University, Dr. Roberta Iannacito-Provenzano, said she had the opportunity to witness Sandals’ operations firsthand over the past few days, including the resort brand’s annual Prestige Awards, which honour outstanding team members.
“It was clear the importance Sandals places on community and well-being. I can see that reflected in your team, and you should be really proud,” Iannacito-Provenzano expressed to Sandals Resorts’ Executive Chairman, Adam Stewart. “What I saw is that people truly care for each other. We are proud to collaborate with institutions like Sandals that embody these values.”
This marks the third such MOU for SCU,
following similar engagements with the UWI Global Campus and the Turks and Caicos Islands Community College. Notable collaborations also include ongoing initiatives with Florida International University and Les Roches School of Global Hospitality.
Delivering the keynote address at the signing, Stewart underscored SCU’s commitment to aligning with internationally recognised universities to enhance hospitality training and create learning pathways for team members.
He expressed pride in the impact of the Sandals Corporate University on its team members not just in Jamaica, but across the Caribbean.
“This is the Caribbean Dream. This company has demonstrated that what originates from the Caribbean can stand proudly on the world stage—provided we give our people the opportunity,” Stewart stated. “Being able to create connections like this with TMU is truly impactful. On behalf of our 18,000-plus team members and the students who will benefit from exchange programmes, I say thank you for the confidence and the opportunity to collaborate with Toronto Metropolitan University.”

Over 200 Police Officers Complete Landmark Sandals Corporate University Leadership Training

In a landmark collaboration between law enforcement and Sandals Resorts, 210 senior officers from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) have successfully completed an intensive leadership training programme designed and delivered by the Sandals Corporate University (SCU).
Their achievement was celebrated on Thursday, March 13, at Sandals Montego Bay, marking a significant step in strengthening leadership within the force and reinforcing the critical link between security and Jamaica’s tourism industry.
Spearheaded by Sandals and Beaches Resorts Executive Chairman Adam Stewart, the leadership training programme was developed through discussions between the JCF and the tourism business community in St. James to enhance leadership skills within the force.
The intensive training session equipped JCF officers with key leadership and selfdevelopment principles, strengthening their
ability to lead effectively within their ranks and engage with the public.
This first cohort represents the successful completion of the pilot phase, which trained over 50 percent of the leadership team of 400 officers from the Area One division— comprising Trelawny, St. James, Hanover and Westmoreland. The training was conducted over 10 days, from November 11, 2024, to January 9, 2025.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security Dr. Horace Chang commended the Sandals Corporate University and highlighted the reduction in crime that Area One is now experiencing.
“Area One has seen the largest reduction in homicides this year, particularly over the last eight weeks,” Dr. Chang stated. If this trend continues, the area will have recorded just over 100 homicides across all four parishes this year—compared to last year, when St. James alone exceeded that number.
Meanwhile, the Security Minister also applauded the SCU, emphasising what he indicated was its growing national significance.

Seated in front of a group of officers from the Area One division who completed the Sandals Corporate University (SCU) leadership training programme are (L-R): Minister of National Security Dr. Horace Chang, Executive Chairman of Sandals Resorts Adam Stewart, Commissioner of Police Dr. Kevin Blake, Senior Corporate Director of SCU Dr. Luz Longsworth, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Warren Clarke.

“Knowing the history of Sandals, I am confident that the Sandals Corporate University will soon become one of Jamaica’s most important educational institutions. It is a pleasure and a privilege to have the police force being part of the groups that are working with the Sandals Corporate University,” Dr. Chang said.
The Importance of Security in Tourism
Commissioner of Police Dr. Kevin Blake added that the SCU’s initiative underscores the importance Sandals places on security in the tourism industry.
“I want to acknowledge the visionary leadership of Sandals and the wider St. James tourism business community for this outstanding example of corporate

responsibility and their deep understanding of security’s role in protecting this essential industry,” Commissioner Blake stated.
During the event, Sandals’ Executive Chairman, Stewart presented the graduating officers with their certifications, stressing that the programme is not just about learning new concepts, it’s about transforming leadership in Jamaica.
“Your leadership will continue to shape the future of this country,” Stewart told the JCF leaders. “Tourism is a key pillar of our economy, and the JCF’s role in safeguarding this sector is absolutely paramount. This ecosystem thrives on the linkages we create, and I am privileged to work alongside individuals committed to making Jamaica a better place through collaboration between the private sector and policymakers.”
With the successful completion of the pilot phase and 210 JCF leaders now trained and certified, Senior Corporate Director of the Sandals Corporate University Dr. Luz Longsworth announced that SCU is

advancing to phase two. This next stage will facilitate training for additional leadership team members as well as rank-and-file officers, guided by findings from a training needs assessment.
SCU is the educational arm of Sandals and Beaches Resorts, providing team members across nine countries in the region with opportunities for academic and professional growth. Through partnerships with internationally recognised universities, professional organisations, and local educational institutions, SCU offers programmes ranging from basic hospitality training to structured learning pathways that can ultimately lead not only to higher education degrees but also to community development.

Executive Chairman of Sandals Resorts, Adam Stewart, presents Assistant Commissioner of Police and Area One Commander Glenford Miller with his certificate for completing Sandals Corporate University’s leadership training programme.
Cato Memorial Hospital Receives Essential Equipment Following Sandals Foundation’s Island Challenge
The paediatric department at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH) within the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has received critical medical equipment valued at a little over £100,000 following funds raised through the successful staging of the Sandals Foundation Island Challenge in October 2024.
The equipment includes two incubators, one infant warmer, one ultrasound machine with a paediatric echocardiography probe, three SP02 monitors, and syringe pumps which Dr. Mishka Duncan, paediatrician of the MCMH, said “will make an immediate change in our ability to care for infants requiring specialized treatment. The tools provided will improve how we manage critical cases, allowing us to deliver high-quality, timely care to the most vulnerable members of our community.”

The paediatric department at the MCMH manages neonates and children up to 15 years old, on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Annually, there are approximately 600 - 700 children admitted to the paediatric department, 140 babies to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and approximately just over 1,000 admitted to the maternity ward.
“It’s all about ensuring that families have access to life-saving care when they need it most. The right medical equipment can mean the difference between uncertainty and hope, between struggle and survival. At the Sandals Foundation, we believe that investing in healthcare is investing in life itself, strengthening the very foundation of a country’s future.” Heidi Clarke, Executive Director of the Sandals Foundation continued, “We are incredibly proud to support the dedicated team at Milton Cato Memorial Hospital with the tools they need to deliver specialized care to vulnerable
infants. This is what true Caribbean connection looks like, coming together to uplift communities, strengthen healthcare systems, and create lasting change for generations to come.”
The Sandals Foundation Island Challenge brought together over 30 athletes from the UK and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, who completed a grueling four-day journey of running and kayaking across the islands to raise funds for the initiative. Thanks to their dedication and the generous support of local and UK sponsors and partners, including the Ministry of Health, Wellness, and the Environment; the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority, Team Athletics SVG, and a team from Unique Vacations UK Ltd., an affiliate of the worldwide sales and marketing representatives for Sandals Resorts, over £100,000 was raised to enhance pediatric healthcare services in the region.

New Parent - Sandals Ochi
Edgar Brown, Assistant Chief Engineer

Edgar Brown, an engineering professional at Sandals Ochi, never imagined his routine would include midnight lullabies and diaper changes. Married for over a year to his partner Glenella, the couple hadn’t planned on a baby just yet—until their lives were forever transformed by the arrival of their son, Kaleb-Xamore Riquelme Olivie Brown.
Kaleb-Xamore’s entrance into the world has become a joyful surprise, embraced by their families. His biblical names, chosen to honor the couple’s deep-rooted Christian faith, resonate with the values that both sets of grandparents hold dear. These grandparents, pillars of their community and faith, have welcomed Kaleb-Xamore with open arms, infusing the new generation with love and spiritual guidance.
For Edgar, the transition into fatherhood has been both a challenging and profoundly rewarding experience. Waking up in the quiet hours alongside Glenella to tend to Kaleb-Xamore’s needs, he has learned the intimate art of fathering. “There’s something magical about those moments,” Edgar reflects. “I remember one night in particular— holding him close and hearing his laughter break the silence. It was a reminder of how life’s simplest moments can be the most special.”
Adapting quickly to his new role, Edgar has become not only a loving

father but also a supportive partner at home. Whether it’s feeding, changing, or playing with his son, he ensures that every task is approached with care. “Happy wife, happy child, happy life,” he says, emphasizing how teamwork and mutual support have redefined his approach to family responsibilities.
Beyond the daily routines, fatherhood has instilled in Edgar a renewed sense of focus and accountability. His precious son now serves as a daily reminder to set a positive example. “Be the role model for your children,” he advises other parents. “Practice what you preach at home—children truly live what they learn.”
Edgar Brown’s story is one of unexpected blessings—a reminder that life can take us on journeys we never planned but often cherish the most. As he continues to balance his career with the demands of nurturing his young family, Edgar finds that every sleepless night and every shared smile with KalebXamore deepens his commitment to creating a loving, supportive home grounded in faith and familial love.
