Sandals Dunn’s River Cops National Quality Awards

Sandals Dunn’s River emerged a major winner at the Bureau of Standards Jamaica (BSJ), and Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce (MIIC), 14th National Quality Awards Ceremony and Banquet at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel recently.
The resort copped the National Award for Excellence in Service and was also the winner of two Sectional Awards for Service Excellence in Customer Focus and Excellence in Business Results.
This prestigious event celebrates and honours Jamaican companies that have demonstrated business excellence in four major sectors: manufacturing, service, micro, small & medium-sized enterprises and agriculture.
Sandals Dunn’s River General Manager, Deryk Meany, who was there to receive the prizes, was elated at winning the three awards and attributed the success to the team members. “We have a vibrant and well trained team at Sandals Dunn’s River, committed to the highest standard of service excellence,” Meany noted. “The audit conducted by the Bureau of Standards was very comprehensive and we are happy to come out on top.”
Since its inception in 2004, the National Quality Awards (NQA) Programme has stood as Jamaica’s premier quality systembased awards initiative.
To be eligible for the awards, participating organisations had to undergo a comprehensive assessment process, beginning with the submission of a detailed self-assessment form and culminating in an intensive audit conducted by BSJcontracted auditors.
The results of this rigorous evaluation reaffirmed Jamaica’s commitment to fostering quality standards that drive innovation and global competitiveness.

Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day and if yes, why?

New Parent - SRI
Brytany Williams, IT Applications Trainer
1. How has life changed since becoming a parent?
Well, sleep is now a distant memory, and coffee has become my best friend.
2. What’s the most surprising thing about parenthood so far?
How fast babies grow! One minute they’re a tiny newborn, and the next, they’re smiling, giggling, and showing their own little personality. It’s a beautiful, whirlwind experience.
3. What’s the best piece of parenting advice you’ve received?
“You’re doing better than you think.” It’s a simple reminder to cut yourself some slack and trust that you’re enough.
4. How did you choose your baby’s name? Any special meaning?
His name is Bryson. ‘Bry’ was derived from Brytany and ‘Son’- he’s my son. His last name is Watson, from daddy of course.
5. What’s been the funniest or most unexpected moment with your little one?
The first time he sat up on his own—it was like watching a tiny superhero discover their powers! I couldn’t believe how proud and amazed I was by such a simple thing.
6. If your baby had a “job” based on their personality so far, what would it be?
At 6 months old, he’d be a lawyer. He already knows how to hold a “serious” conversation with his baby babble, and his expressions could win any case.

7. How are you adjusting to balancing work and family life? It’s definitely a learning curve! Some days feel like juggling everything at once, but I’m finding my rhythm.
8. How has your perspective on work changed since becoming a parent?
I’ve become a master of time management: “If I can finish this before the next nap, I’m ahead of the game!”
9. What’s one thing you’re most excited to experience as your child grows?
Believe it or not, I’m actually excited for homework, projects, and school trips! Watching my little one hit milestones and seeing them experience the world in their own way is going to be amazing.
10. What’s one piece of advice you’d give to soon-to-be parents at work?
Don’t worry about looking put-together. If you’re dressed at all, you’re winning.

“What is style in your day-to-day life?”
“When wearing your uniform, you should wear it with pride and have a clear mindset about what you want to achieve that day.”
“How long has fashion been a part of your life?”
