n Tuesday 2nd September, a team of talented creative’s came together at the stunning Walled Garden at Beeston Fields to create a wonderful botanical garden theme photo shoot; in complete synergy with the ornate and rustic wild garden setting. Liz at Mad Philomena styled the entire shoot seamlessly with her creative flair and ingenious talent. Complete with wild ferns and moss, antique furniture and amazing props, the outcome was simply amazing. Fabric Theatre worked alongside Liz using their gorgeous draping to create a stunning effect, along with creating a beautiful flower arch which linked in with the botanical garden theme perfectly. The Flower Mill worked tirelessly to produce fabulous floral arrangements, bouquets and a corsage whilst Yummy Little Cakes created the most beautiful sage green, three tiered cake.

The talented Vanessa Peacock was in charge of make-up with the lovely Donna Rhodes, ‘At Home with your hair stylist’ looking after the models hair. The beautiful wedding gowns were supplied by our friends at Giling and White with the classic blue suit by Reiss. Both stunning, professional models supplied by Blake Models. Finally, all images courtesy of the wonderful Lee Garland; one of the best photographers we have the pleasure of working with.

Above: Clare & Stefan Classic Old English White Cars ‘Duey’ and ‘Olivia’ We booked these cars last year for our wedding on 9th August 2014! They are the most beautiful cars but aside from that the service from Jo, Peter and their drivers is second to none. They were earlier than needed to put all our minds at ease and were professional and kind throughout the whole day. I would say whole heartily that they should be the only choice for wedding cars: words don’t do justice to how amazing the cars and their drivers are. Thanks so much for being a part of our special day.
“
Thanks for being part of our wedding on 31st May - we had a fantastic day, and have just got back from honeymoon to look through the photos. The car looked perfect, and really fitted with the theme of the day. The photos outside the church and at Norwood look brilliant, and it was really fun riding together to Norwood with the champagne. Thanks again for your help organising things and being great on the day. Good luck with the rest of the wedding season!

A PURE TIPI DELIGHT welcome to the wedding of
EMMA & GR AEME ROBERTS
••• “We went for a rustic, country style wedding and as I’m from a Christian background, I’ve always known I wanted a traditional church wedding. Fortunately for us our local church is in a beautiful rural location and is so full of character. For the reception venue we wanted something relaxed and a little out of the ordinary; the laid-back, outdoorsy nature of a tipi wedding suited us down to the ground.

A CHIC COUNTRY GARDEN WEDDING
I
really can’t praise our caterers, Black Peppermint enough! (blackpeppermint.com) The service they offered us was faultless from start to finish and the owner Adam was so personal in his approach. He pretty much managed the whole event on the day and ensured everything ran smoothly. The food was of course excellent too; we had a tapas, sharer style menu including pork belly with popcorn crackling, Thai spiked fish, duck parcels, posh chips and salad. In the evening they served up pizza which was carried by the waiters on wooden blocks and dished out directly to guests.

Peaktipis (peaktipis.co.uk) provided our tipis and an excellent, professional service to boot! The atmosphere the tipis provided on the day was out of this world; the open fire, the rustic wooden furniture and the beams lit up with fairy lights all made for an amazingly intimate and cosy setting. It really gave a wow factor when our guests arrived at the venue, like our own little fairyland. Despite a biblical storm hitting us just as our evening guests arrived, the tipis didn’t leak or flood at all and we barely noticed the torrential rain outside!

We had our tipis at Papplewick Pumping Station which (very surprisingly) has not had an outdoor wedding in its grounds for 7 years before ours! It was the perfect place for the country-style wedding we were after. We had cocktails in jam jars and canapés on the lawn before our photographer (neilhoylephotography.com ) took pictures by the lake and in the boiler house inside the pumping station (which is also a British heritage building). Our florist saw my vision from the word go and provided stunning, country-style flowers, perfect for our summer wedding (twigsflowersnottingham.com/about). I was so lucky with my favours and my cake as these were both made by my wonderful bridesmaids! We had homemade cupcakes and homemade jam, both of which were absolutely delicious and added such a lovely, personal touch to the day. I began my search for ‘The One’ by simply googling ‘wedding dress’ for some ideas. In the end I put all my trust in Angela Vickers (angela-vickers.co.uk) who agreed to hand-make the exact dress I was after. This was an incredibly nerve-wracking time as I had no idea what the dress would actually look like on or if it would even suit me until it was too late! I had many doubts during the process, but thankfully it turned out perfectly. It was made from crepe and beautiful French lace. It had a sweetheart neckline, capped sleeves, a full lace back and a lace overlay that gradually tapered off halfway down the dress. I didn’t want a veil so I wore it with a floral, garland-style headpiece which gave the look a lovely, bohemian feel which I loved. My bridesmaids wore very pale, pastel green dresses by Dessy in three different styles and my flower-girls were in simple, ivory cotton dresses with beaded detailing.

The look my hair dresser, Amy Lee of Dillon and Lee achieved for my day was just right and so beautifully done I couldn’t have asked for more! She is more than just a hairdresser, she brought such a wonderfully calm and laid back presence on my wedding morning that I would have been lost without her! To any future brides out there, be ready to leave for your ceremony at least half an hour before you need to be. I was nearly half an hour late for our ceremony (very typical me) and I felt so rushed, I never had time to enjoy the ‘moment’ of putting on my dress in front of my bridesmaids, and didn’t get any pictures of us all together before we left. If I could do it all over again, I’d be ready and relaxing with a drink long before I had to leave for the church!” All images by neilhoylephotography.com

“I
’ve been a photographer for 18 years now. After studying photography at college for a year I soon got my teeth into becoming a full time photographer by working as an assistant. 12 years as a press and magazine photographer followed, before I finally set my heart on a career as a wedding photographer. I first shot a wedding when I was just 18 years old. Weddings have changed a hell of a lot since that couples big day nearly two decades ago, and I’m pleased to say for the better! The days of stuffy, formal group shots have long gone. Now couples want relaxed, creative, and candid images to remember their special day. This completely sums up my style of photography and allows me to work with couples that have extreme trust in my photographic abilities. If you’re looking for a true story of your day, captured as it happens, then I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully shooting your big day!

etty Timbo of Bespoke Vintage Castle is relatively new to wedding-ville having began her bespoke hair accessory and brooch bouquets business in October 2013. Alongside her sister Jazzy, Betty has developed a well established, creative business completely from scratch and goes above and beyond to create one off, unique pieces for her clients. Completely custom made, Betty’s hair pieces have been so well received that she sells on Etsy as well as making bespoke for her wedding clients. Nothing is too crazy or different; for example, Betty has recently been commissioned to design and make a pair of ‘Wizard of Oz’ shoes for one of her brides! To showcase her work and talents, Betty decided to bring together a collection of wedding suppliers to create a photo shoot. Taking place at Hoar Cross Hall, this ‘Marie Antoinette’ inspired shoot combined a mix of whimsical Alice in Wonderland style eccentricity with a vibrant Autumnal theme. Wonderfully whimsical and totally unique and inspiring, here are the gorgeous results.

lthough my husband is from London and I have also lived there for the last ten years, I’m a country girl at heart, and it was inevitable that our wedding would be held in the beautiful, picturesque rolling hills of the Peak District where I grew up. “
The ceremony took place at my village church in Duffield, St Alkmund’s. It’s a beautiful building and our old family home up on the hill overlooks it. For our venue we chose some fabulous tipis by Elite Tents in the grounds of Kedleston Hall. I’d seen them online before and knew that was definitely the route I would like to go down, as they create such a magical atmosphere, especially with the fairy lights, natural wood beams and open fires. We had a separate tipi which was used for the photobooth, cake, candy cart and chill-out

area, including cushions and a coffee table where people could sign and add photos to our personalised wooden guest book. We decided on an English vintage country fete wedding, styled with lace, hessian and pastel tones. I bought an old Raleigh bike with wicker basket on ebay and painted a sign with our names to welcome everyone. I made a couple of chalkboards placed on easels by the DJ – one invited our guests to take a pair of flip-flops when their feet got tired, and another listed some dance-floor rules and encouraged frequent dance-offs. I’d also created betting slips with pencils for the speeches, which got all tables interacting, and created a buzzing atmosphere! I spent months sourcing vintage teacups & saucers, birdcages, antique books, Victorian lace table cloths, old fashioned sweetie

jars, traditional sweets, shepherds hooks to hang glass lanterns with candles, ornate picture frames for each table which were displayed on haybales as our seating plan etc - anything that I thought might help set the theme. I’d created numerous vintage styled table photobooth messages on sticks, for example ‘Team Bride’, ‘Team Groom’, ‘I’m only here for the beer’, ‘I’m sexy and I know it’, ‘He put a ring on it’ etc. They were only pieces of card stuck to wooden coffee stirrers but people loved them!
I asked my florist (Michele Gledhill) to produce a variety of arrangements to work with the vintage mixed pastel colour theme. I’d seen her website so was confident but when the bouquets, wrist corsages and buttonholes arrived at the hotel, I was totally blown away. One of the best decisions that I made was hiring our singing waiters - simply outstanding! James was in charge of evening music, finding our amazing band (iRock) and DJ (Spirits High) online - both ensured that the dance floor was jam-packed all night.
I was incredibly lucky as my wedding dress was the first and only dress I tried on! I didn’t have a set idea about what I wanted and hadn’t even picked up a wedding magazine. However, I knew it had to be an intricate lace piece, as that would suit the style of the wedding.
I knew I wanted to take the stress out of the logistics for my guests, so I hired two vintage red routemaster buses (Blackmore’s Commercials) to bring a bit of London to Derbyshire! My dad and I also enjoyed a bumpy but fabulous ride to church in an absolutely gorgeous VW campervan called ‘Bluebell’, hired from The Little Blue Bay Company in Ripley. One of our ushers owns a helicopter, and we were incredibly fortunate that he was able to take us to our reception.
All of my bridesmaids are different skin tones, hair colours and sizes, so I went for a mix ‘n’ match effect for their dresses, I truly wanted all girls to look and feel fabulous! My amazing hair stylist (James White) styled my tresses in a loose updo with veil and diamante headband for the day, which was let down into a half up/down style for the evening. We met with a few caterers but no-one came close to offering the level of service of Black Peppermint Food Company. On first meeting with Adam we saw his passion for the business and knew he would deliver our guests that ‘wow’ menu.
“
Enjoy every moment, and appreciate the ups and downs. Everyone says it goes too quickly and it’s true, but you’ll be left with the memories of an incredibly special day. Only you know the full picture of your event, so believe in it, work hard and it’s sure to be a roaring success!” All images courtesy of Emma Cleveley Photography (emmacleveley.co.uk)

Having provided their immaculate tipis for over 100 weddings and events over the last four years, owners of the business and good friends Duncan and Matthew have built up a fantastic reputation with an honest, trustworthy and reliable approach. Taking pride in each and every wedding they deliver, no stone is left unturned from the rustic furniture, beautiful styling, excellent standards and perfectionism. With Peaktipis, what you see is what you get. No hidden extras or nasty surprises with complete transparency on their costs and quotations. Duncan and Matthew take great pride in their business and are involved throughout the entire process; erecting and dismantling the tipis themselves and always dealing with the client on a regular basis. Through the years, Peaktipis have built up fantastic relationships with the crème de la crème of the wedding industry, from creative stylists and quality caterers to reputable wedding venues such as Kedleston Hall.
“Our costs reflect our standards. We don’t claim to be the cheapest tipi solution however, our professional approach and quality of our tents means that you can be rest assured that no matter what the weather, our robust tipis will provide the perfect backdrop for your wedding day and will never ever let you down” says Matthew. Here’s one of our many quotations from a recent ‘Peaktipis’ Bride & Groom: “After many quotes & conversations with several "Tipi" companies we decided on Peaktipi's, and we weren't disappointed. I can't thank your whole team for the fantastic service from the quote through to the "big day". You were at the end of the phone day or night answering any of my questions no matter how big or small. Everyone loved the WOW factor of the Tipi's, it was the talk of the wedding. It was everything we wanted and more! he date is set, the venue is booked, and you have bought your dress. Now is the time to focus on the finer details, such as your makeup. To put your mind at ease a professional makeup artist can help you feel pampered and ensure you are looking your best from morning until night. Why use a makeup artist? You may apply your makeup every day and be very good at it, but that does not mean it will photograph well or last all day! Although brides may look as though they have very natural makeup on they are often wearing up to 30% more makeup than they normally would. This does not mean the makeup has been applied with a trowel! It is about using products to ensure the makeup has longevity, will photograph beautifully in any light and still looks natural and glowing. Makeup artists have the kit and skill to do this for you. Don’t rely on “Photoshop” to give you your perfect makeup. Remember you are going to be centre of attention all day and it is not just your photographer who will be taking photos. Makeup Trial This is essential for any bride. This allows Vanessa and her bride to get to know each other, and to try out a number of “looks” to ensure the makeup is exactly what the bride wants on the day.
W W W.
When choosing your make up “look” there are a number of things to bear in mind; you still want to look like yourself, so avoid any dramatic changes to your make up and keep the look timeless. Make up that is very on-trend dates very quickly and will soon age your wedding photographs. Most importantly don’t be scared to be honest, because the most important thing is for you to be happy. If you want something changing or want to try something else please say so. A successful trial gives you confidence and means the morning of your wedding is enjoyable and stress free! Here’s what one of Vanessa’s recent brides has to say about her service: “Hi Vanessa, Just wanted to say thank you so very much for Saturday! You were extremely patient with us all even with me wandering off & did a fantastic job! We all loved our makeup & everybody commented on how lovely we looked. We had a fantastic day & the morning with you and Janet (hair lady) was perfect. Kindest regards, Helen x” To contact Vanessa for any advice please call 07504982739, or email va.peacock@gmail.com Visit www.vppromakeup.com

he wedding of Lauran and Oliver Thorpe took place at Staffordshire’s magnificent Grade II listed stately home, Hoar Cross Hall. “When we began searching for our wedding venue, our goal was to find a countryside retreat that had a nearby church and plentiful accommodation, so our guests could spend as much of the day with us as possible. The minute we approached Hoar Cross Hall, we knew it was ‘the one’. Lauran is an architect, so she was immediately struck by its grand period features, and we both fell in love with the beautiful Church of the Holy Angels, which sits just outside the grounds of Hoar Cross Hall. We loved the romance of knowing that both our ceremony and reception would take place in buildings with centuries of stories to tell. We were blown away by the splendour of the Ballroom – the setting for our wedding breakfast – and in particular, its striking William Morris wallpaper. We decided to incorporate its bold blues into our colour scheme, choosing navy blue stationery, bridesmaid’s dresses, ties and pocket squares, and introducing thistles into our flower arrangements. Lauran had read about the ancient Japanese

legend that promises long life and good luck to the bride who handfolds 1,000 origami cranes, so she took on this challenge and the finished pieces were used as place settings and suspended above our dance floor. The sun shone long enough after the ceremony for our guests to play traditional games on the lawn, while we explored the grounds with our friend and photographer, Samuel Docker. I’ll never forget the moment when the Ballroom doors opened and we walked in as Mr and Mrs Thorpe. It really was the perfect setting for creating memories we’ll treasure forever.” From the moment you choose to host your wedding at Hoar Cross Hall, a dedicated Wedding Coordinator is assigned to work with you every step of the way, making sure every last detail is planned and executed to perfection. IAN BURSILL
I
an Bursill, the Wedding Industry Awards winner of “Best Photographer” for the East Midlands region in 2012 and 2014 offers some advice for couples planning their wedding photography.
the officiant of the wedding ceremony needs to be, because if the officiant doesn’t allow photography of the most important part of the day, or only certain parts of it, the final story of the day will be like a jigsaw puzzle with a quarter of the pieces missing - incomplete.
“If you’re looking for a photographer with a natural approach then you’re probably looking for a documentary wedding photographer (DWP). This style depends on observation and anticipation which leads to the capture of real moments of emotive human interaction at weddings. Moments that aren’t set up. Moments that evoke memories of the day in the future.
Restrictions at my couples ceremony venues are always a part of any pre-wedding discussions. Some couples find out about such restrictions during initial dealings with their venue, but some are unaware and it’s only when I raise the subject with them that they go away to find out if they can have their ceremony photographed without any restrictions.
To achieve that result, all parties involved on the wedding day need to be aware of the DWP’s way of working; but most importantly -
I’ve had mixed dealings with officiants over the years and rules can vary based on religious denominations, from church-to-church

••• within the same religion and even from vicar-to-vicar within the same church. Rules even vary for civil ceremonies. My advice is to speak with the officiant of your ceremony beforehand and if you’re looking to book a DWP, explain to the officiant how they will work. A DWP will always be professional, courteous and will have respect for the couple, their service and the ceremony venue and will quietly document the service with the minimum of fuss and disruption. They’ll also be experts at shooting in low-light situations without having to resort to using flash. Once the ceremony is over, the officiant will have hardly known that the photographer was there...” www.bursill.com info@bursill.com 07881 438 911

op Marques UK Ltd always like to keep up with the latest trends and with that in mind we have expanded our range of marquee styles to include the Luxury ‘Petal’ Marquees. These look like a traditional style marquee, the difference is that they are more modern and more stylish, making it look vintage yet contemporary. These structures have external poles and ropes as with a traditional structure of this nature. They are made from polycotton and wood, both of which are natural materials not like the more modern PVC versions you see today.

Ideal for the on trend wedding themes such as rustic, high tea and English fete, imagine what your wedding day could look like within a traditional petal marquee. Get in touch with Top Marques UK Ltd: www.topmarquesuk.com 01335 330476 or 07866 429782 All images courtesy of threesixsevennine.co.uk
Hard flooring can be used but you may prefer a matted flooring to suit the rustic, traditional feel. All of our furniture and fairy lighting look great in these and they have a real wow factor. This style of marquee is best suited to a reasonably flat, level surface but an slightly uneven surface can actually add to the rustic feel! A number of themes suit these structures such as rustic, decorative weddings, high tea, and English fete. This style can hold 50-250 guests. The structure is 12m wide like an aluminium structure and the length is determined by the number of guests and internal requirements.

“Producing photography that captures the emotions and feel of the wedding day so that the bride and groom can relive their wedding over and over again is so important to me” – Cathy. Earlier this year Oehlers Photography were commissioned to photograph Lucia and Mike’s wedding in beautiful Sorrento, Italy. Such a wonderful, romantic location. We have an ever increasing destination wedding portfolio and have photographed in fabulous places such as Mombasa in Kenya and Stockholm in Sweden so Sorrento was a fantastic addition.
Sorrento stood out to us because of the Cloister, the only way I can describe my first impression of this place is breathtaking. Anyone looking at getting married abroad should look at this venue as it wont disappoint and without a doubt I would always recommend Oehlers Photography to anyone looking for a wedding photographer as their work is just outstanding. Massive thanks to Cathy and Brian of Oehlers Photography for agreeing to come out to Sorrento to photograph our wedding, we couldn’t have done it without them” – Mr and Mrs Crossland (5th August 2014) With Oehlers Photography, you will have the security of knowing Cathy and Brian first. Their services offer a pre wedding ‘Get to know you’ shoot to make sure you feel comfortable in front of the camera, as well as several consultations to make sure your wedding is captured perfectly. Abroad they will meet up with you again and will embark on exploring the location for fabulous locations for your photographs.

Lucia’s testimonial: “Our day was magical, perfect in everyway and all of this was capture by our amazing photographers Cathy and Brian of Oehlers Photography. We met Cathy and Brian back in August 2013 at my sisters wedding, she had found them on the internet and we fell in love with their work so there was no doubt about who we were going to have to photograph our special day, we just had to hope that they would agree to travel with us. Pictures were very important to us as we wanted our day and memories capturing so we could look back over them for years to come. As well as their work being fantastic they are an amazing couple that go above and beyond to make you feel very relaxed and comfortable.
We felt at ease every step of the way with Cathy and Brian, even walking the streets of Sorrento having our pictures taken. Making the decision to get married abroad for us was a fairly easy one, we have family that live in Italy near Rome and with Italy being such a beautiful setting it was just a case of picking the perfect location.
