as Liburnia Film Festival (LFF) ist das erste Dokumentarfilmfestival in Kroatien und das einzige Festival, das nur die neuesten kroatischen Dokumentarfilme vorstellt. In diesem Jahr wird das LFF zum 15. Mal vom 21. August bis 25. August 2017 im Open Air Theatre in Opatija stattfinden und veranstaltet wird es von der Association Liburnia Film Festival aus Rijeka, in Zusammenarbeit mit Restart aus Zagreb, und in Partnerschaft mit Filmaktiv und Festival Opatija. Im Jahr 2014 wurde auch das Institut für Dokumentarfilm (IDF) aus Prag und das Balkan Documentary Center Partner des Festivals. Während der fünf Festivaltage genießt das zahlreiche Publikum jedes Jahr zwischen 15 und 20 Dokumentationen, ausgewählt in der Haupt- und Regionalkonkurrenz. Zum speziellen Programm zählen Filme der Restart Produktion. Die Filme werden seit 2007 von Oliver Sertić ausgewählt und über die Preise entscheidet eine Jury und das Publikum. Das Programm von Liburnia Film Festival beinhaltete bisher Dokumentarfilme aus fast allen großen kroatischen Produktionen, aber der Wettbewerb ist auch den Dokumentarfilme kleinerer kroatischer Koproduktionen zugängig.
Seit seiner 3. Auflage organisiert das Liburnia Film Festival ein freies Bildungsprogramm – einen Dokumentarfilm-Workshop in Zusammenarbeit mit Filmaktiv aus Rijeka, Fade In und Restart aus Zagreb. Im Jahr 2017 finden zwei Bildungsworkshops statt: „Zum ersten Mal hinter der Kamera“ für Amateure und ein „Filmmaking Rechtschreibbuch“ für Kinder.

This year the Festival will be held for the 15th time, from August 21 until August 25, 2017 at The Open-Air Theatre in Opatija. In 2014, the Institute of documentary film (IDF) from Prague and Balkan Documentary Centre also became partners of the Festival. During the five days of the festival, the audience will have a chance to enjoy between 15 and 20 movies, selected for the main and regional competition. A special programme consists of the films made by the Restart production. Since 2007 the films for the Festival have been selected by Oliver Sertić, and the awards are decided by both a jury and the audience. Liburnia Film Festival’s programme so far included movies from almost all major Croatian documentary productions although competition is also open to documentaries made in co-production.
Ever since its 3rd edition, Liburnia Film Festival has been offering a free education programme – Documentary Film Workshop in cooperation with Filmaktiv from Rijeka, Fade In and Restart from Zagreb. In 2017, two education workshops are taking place: “My First Film Shooting” for amateurs and a “Filmmaking Spelling Book” for children.

ie Gitarre ist ein Instrument, das für verschiedene Arten von musikalischen Darbietungen geeignet ist und gilt als das primäre Instrument in Jazz, Blues, Country, Flamenco, Rock und in vielen Formen der Popmusik. Die Gitarre wird oft auch in der klassischen Musik und als Soloinstrument verwendet. Die Geschichte der Gitarre geht bis in die Antike zurück, als das Spielen von Zupfinstrumenten Teil des kulturellen Lebens war. Aus vielen Gründen hat sich diese Art der musikalischen Darbietung bis heute bewahrt. Der Kultursommer in Kastav hat die Bedeutung dieses Instruments erkannt und hält ihm zu Ehren jedes Jahr dieses Festival ab. In diesem Jahr feiert das Guitar Festival sein 20. Jubiläum mit einem feierlichen Programm. Fans der klassischen Musik haben die Gelegenheit, das Konzert von Petrit Çeku zu genießen, gefolgt vom amerikanischen Musikhighlight - Muriel Anderson und Duck Baker mit ihrer Fingerpicking-Technik im August. Das Gitarrenfestival endet mit dem Flamenco Abend und spanischen Musikern – das Alfonso & Miguel Linares Flamenco Quartett.
A
guitar is an instrument suitable for various kinds of musical performances. It is recognized as the primary instrument in jazz, blues, country, flamenco, rock and many forms of pop music; it is often used in classical music and as a solo instrument. The history of the guitar dates back to ancient times, when the practice of playing the string instruments was a part of the cultural life. For a number of reasons, this practice has managed to survive to this date. The Kastav Cultural Summer has recognized the importance of this instrument by giving it a festival within a festival. This year, the Guitar Festival celebrates its 20th jubilee edition, which will be marked by an appropriate celebration. The lovers of classical music will have the opportunity to enjoy the concert of Petrit Çeku, followed by the American musical treat – Muriel Anderson and Duck Baker – top fingerpicking style guitarist, all in August. Guitar Festival will end with the evening dedicated to flamenco music performed by Spanish musicians, Alfonso & Miguel Linares Flamenco Quartet.

D
er Angiolina-Strand ist eine Neuheit in Opatija; nicht nur zum Schwimmen und für verrückte Sommer-Partys gedacht, zu denen man Musik, Essen und Getränke genießt, sondern auch ein Ort, wo Vergangenheit und Gegenwart auf bestmögliche Weise aufeinandertreffen. Das legendäre Holzbad wurde im Jahre 2017 nach einem Modell des alten Holzbades getreu restauriert, doch im Gegensatz zu dem aus dem Jahr 1884, ist es um moderne architektonische Elemente und neue Einrichtungen bereichert. Mit über 400 Quadratmetern Fläche auf zwei Etagen gibt es alles, was ein moderner Gast für einen perfekten Tag am Meer braucht. Zu gastronomi-

he Angiolina Beach is a new place in Opatija not only for swimming, and crazy summer parties with music, food and drinks, but also a place where past and present are combined in the best possible way. The model of the legendary wooden bath was restored in 2017, but unlike 1884, enriched with modern architectural elements and facilities. With over 400 square meters of space on two floors, there is everything a modern tourist needs for a perfect day at the sea. Gastronomical offer is accompanied by a coffee shop and a bar, as well with additional facilities such as the Gentlemen’s Shop (pop-up barber shop), the tattoo studio Nero Ink by Kristina Šalinović and Enrico Migliorati and a pop-up store of the renowned Croatian fashion designers ELFS. The renovated swimming pavilion Angiolina is located near the park and Villa of the same name, the building where Croatian tourism was born. This new beach, or bath pavilion as we prefer to call it, creates a new face of Opatija and raises the quality of life in the town. This is a beauty that belongs to both the tourists and the locals. Believe us when we say, whoever comes here cannot easily turn his/ her gaze away.

KIDS’ Corner Sommerevents für Kinder
W
ie es sich für eine kinderfreundliche Stadt gehört, hängt im Zentrum von Opatija eine Informationstafel, die 31 Kinderspielplätze in Opatija und Umgebung zeigt, mit Erklärungen in Englisch, Französisch, Italienisch, Deutsch und Kroatisch. Opatija wurde damit zur ersten Stadt in Kroatien mit einer Landkarte mit Kinderspielplätzen - in der Tat ein wahrer Führer durch 31 Spielplätze auf der Stadtkarte mit kurzen Beschreibungen, Fotos und dem Verhaltenskodex. Zur Karte sind auf der Tafel auch Informationen über die kinderfreundliche Stadt Opatija und den Kinderstadtrat zu finden, auf dessen Initiative die Spielplatzkarte entworfen wurde. Sommeraktivitäten für Kinder gibt es in Opatija schon seit Jahren. Das Ziel dieser Aktivitäten ist das Kinder zusammen kommen, Spaß haben und viel Zeit am Strand verbringen können, beginnend mit dem letzten bis zum ersten Tag des neuen Schuljahres. Die Aktivitäten sind für Kinder im Vorschulalter und im Schulalter gedacht. Kinder können schon ab 7.00 bis 16.30 Uhr betreut werden. Während ihres Aufenthalts werden viele kreative, Unterhaltungsund Bildungs-Workshops organisiert, zusätzlich zu den sportlichen Aktivitäten, Gesellschaftsspielen und Filmen.

Summer action for Kids
n the very centre of Opatija, as befits the children-friendly city, the information board with a map of 31 children’s playgrounds in Opatija and its surroundings was erected and written in English, French, Italian, German and Croatian language. Opatija thus became the first city in Croatia with a map of children’s playgrounds – in effect a guide through 31 playgrounds drawn on the city map with a brief description, photographs and code of conduct. Along with the map, the information board contains also information about the children-friendly city of Opatija and the Children’s City Council on whose initiative the map of playgrounds was made. Summer activities in Opatija´s children society have been held for years. Activities are organized for socializing, having fun and spending time at the beach from the last day of the school year, until the beginning of the next school year. Activities are planned for children of pre-school and school age. Children may come as early as 7:00 am and are being taken care of until 4:30 pm. During their stay, many creative, entertainment and educational workshops are organized, in addition to sports activities, social games and watching movies.
