ie Brüder Lumière, die in Opatija filmten, die Tänzerin Isadora Duncan, die vom Zittern der Palmenwedeln im Morgenwind inspiriert wurde, die Kaiserin Sissi, die Opatija offiziell nie besuchte, sich aber in den örtlichen Villen in der Gesellschaft ihres Geliebten versteckte, sowie viele weitere Berühmtheiten aus der Geschichte Opatijas werden im Juli im Rahmen der Veranstaltung „Kaiserstadt“ wieder lebendig. Dabei handelt es sich um eine Mischung aus Theater und Musik an verschiedenen Standorten, die Opatija in eine große Bühne im Freien verwandelt.

he Lumière brothers, who used to film in Opatija; Isadora Duncan, who danced inspired by the fluttering of palm leaves in the breeze; the Empress Sissi, who officially never visited Opatija, but used to hide here in a villa in the company of a lover – all of them, and many other famous people from the history of this town, come back to life in mid-July during the Imperial Town festival, which combines music and theatre at various locations, transforming Opatija into one big stage for a fantastic spectacle with thousands of visitors. During this event, visitors will have the chance to learn more about Opatija‘s history and some of its secrets, and to see for themselves why this town has become and has remained a favourite destination for many celebrities, as well as to feel the spirit of the time when Opatija began its rise to the throne of European tourism. The event „Opatija – the Imperial town“ takes place all over the town centre and along the main street, and also on the seafront promenade and in the magnificent parks and impressive villas.

ie Tradition des a cappella Singens wird in der Kvarner-Region von Gesangsgruppen erhalten, die hier als Klape bekannt sind. Sie räumen bei kroatischen Festivals zahlreiche Preise ab und haben auch viele erfolgreiche Auftritte im Ausland. Die einmalige Bühne mitten im Meer, umgeben von Booten, Fischernetzen und Segeln, ist die perfekte Kulisse für das a cappella singen, ein wahres Symbol der kroatischen Küste, wo das Meer oft eine herausragende Rolle spielt. Der Abend der Klapa in Mandrać bietet eine solche Atmosphäre im kleinen Hafen unter den Sternen und zwischen Fischerbooten. Unter den a cappella Sängern sind ganz außergewöhnliche Stimmen, die Hunderten von Zuschauern und Zuhörern am Ufer ein außergewöhnliches Erlebnis bieten. Diese Veranstaltung ermöglicht einen hervorragenden Einblick in die musikalische und kulturelle Tradition des Primorje, des Küstengebietes, verkörpert in der sorgfältig ausgewählten Lage, den erstklassigen Texten und autochthonen Liedern. Der Abend der Klapa-Chöre beim Mandrać- Event vereint einige der besten und bekanntesten Gesangsgruppen aus diesem Bereich, die in der idyllischen Atmosphäre der Altstadt von Volosko sowohl originale Lieder als auch moderne Melodien zum Besten geben, die für die Klapa-Ausführung besonders bearbeitet wurden.

he tradition of A capella singing in the Kvarner region is carried on by traditional vocal groups, known locally as Klape, who have won numerous awards at Croatian festivals and have also had many successful performances abroad. A unique stage in the middle of the sea, surrounded by boats, fishing nets and sails, is the best scenery for a A capella singing, symbolizing in this tiny fragment the entire Croatian coast, where the sea often has a prominent role. The evening of the Klapa in Mandrac offers this kind of atmosphere - in the midst of a small harbour, under the stars and among the fishing boats. You are about to hear some exceptional vocalists who, in front of hundreds of viewers and listeners on the shore, offer the best that the klapa song offers. The event is the one that offers an excellent insight into the musical and cultural tradition of the Primorje (the Littoral), embodied in a carefully selected location and lyrics belonging to local folk musical culture. The evening of Klape vocal groups in Mandrać brings together some of the best and most famous vocal groups from this area, which, in the idyllic atmosphere of the old town of Volosko, perform both original songs and modern melodies specially arranged for this demanding kind of vocal performance.

ie Sommerfestspiele „Kastafsko kulturno leto“, die seit 1992 im Juli und August stattfinden, verwandeln die Stadt Kastav mit Theater- und Musikvorstellungen auf Crekvina, in der Kirche der heiligen Jelena und unter der Stadtloggia in einen echten multikulturellen Treffpunkt in dieser Region. Dazu gehören auch viele Ausstellungen auf Lokvina und in der Galerie der Heiligen Dreifaltigkeit. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit verdient das eigene Gitarrenfestival, das die besten Gitarristen aus Kroatien und aller Welt höchste Qualität bietet. Jonathan ist eine Band gegründet von fünf guten Freunden aus Rijeka, deren Wege sich im Jahr 2011 gekreuzt hatten. Jonathan sind Zoran Badurina, Vocals, Branko Kovačić, Schlagzeug, Darko Petković, Gitarre, Nikica Jurjević, Bassgitarre und Tomislav Radinović, Gitarre. Sie alle kamen aus anderen Bands und brachten ihre langjährige Musikerfahrung mit. Der Name der Band spiegelt die Idee der Einheit wieder - Jonathan ist eine metaphorische Person mit gemischten Charaktermerkmalen und Launen - von jedem Bandmitglied etwas. Sie möchten sich nicht auf ein einziges Genre beschränken und sind schnell dabei auf ihre Vergangenheit in der alternativen und Punk-Rock-Szene hinzuweisen. Jonathan zieht es vor, sich gegen andere Indie-Bands von heute mit gesunder Ur-Energie und sarkastischen Texten zu bewähren, die mit echtem Gefühl vorgebracht werden. Das Debütalbum Bliss, das im Jahr 2014 auf Bandcamp herauskam, wurde mehr als 10 000 Mal heruntergeladen. Im selben Jahr wurde Jonathan für den Porin Preis in der Kategorie Best New Artist nominiert, während ihre Konzerte in ganz Kroatien ausverkauft sind. Jonathan spielte auf zahlreichen Festivals, wie auf dem Pula Film Festival, InMusic Festival in Zagreb, Exit Festival in Serbien, Ferragosto Jam in Orehovica, Waves Festival in Bratislava und CuntRa la Kunsthureu in Graz. Im Februar dieses Jahres hat Jonathan ihr neues Album vorgestellt. Es heißt ‚To Love‘.

he Kastav Summer of Culture Festival takes place during June and August at various sites of the town - stage and music performances on Crekvina, the Parish Church of St. Helena the Crusader and Municipal Loggia; there are exhibitions in Lokvina square and The Holy Trinity gallery, as well. It was first featured in 1992 and is held annually ever since. The Guitar Festival has been held annually since 1997 and is remarkable for its quality and its great attendances.

Jonathan is a band of five friends from Rijeka whose paths crossed in 2011. Jonathan comprises: Zoran Badurina - vocals, Branko Kovačić - drums, Darko Petković - guitar, Nikica Jurjević - bass guitar and Tomislav Radinović – guitar. All of them previously performed in other bands and have many years of experience. The band’s name reflects the ide an is a metaphorical person with a blend of character traits and quirks characteristic of each band member. Not keen to confine their music to a single genre, they are quick to point out their past in alternative and punk rock scene. Jonathan prefer to define themselves against other indie bands of today with a raw sound with primal energy and sarcastic lyrics produced with genuine feeling. Debut album Bliss which was released in 2014 on Bandcamp has been downloaded more than 10,000 times. The same year, Jonathan was nominated for the Porin award in the category of Best New Artist while their concerts were being sold out throughout Croatia. This edition is based on the manuscript Codex Laurianensis, a collection of desserts from the period 1910-1941, written down over 30 years by Madame Heda, a lady from the élite of the Kvarner region who lived on various locations on the Opatija Riviera. The new edition contains 315 recipes in 7 chapters, based on the original manuscript. With over 500 pictures of valuable and partly unique antique artefacts, the graphic concept brings to life the style, architecture and taste from the Art Nouveau to the Art Deco periods. The old engines roared pleasantly, guiding us with the beauty of their advanced years into the warm summer nights. Every Tuesday during the summer, in front of the Milenij Hotel, the Liburnia Classic Club from Opatija will wait for their guests with five historic vehicles to take them for a free 25-minute ride around Opatija. A sightseeing tour of sorts with the pleasure of riding in a historic vehicle that nowadays presents a rarity. Free rides are organized by the Liburnia Classic Club from Opatija, with the support of the City of Opatija and Opatija Tourist Board, from 1st June till 30th August 2017. The ride around the town will start from the Milenij Hotel, pass by the Ambasador Hotel, the building of the Opatija Town Hall, through the historic centre of Volosko passing beside the atelier of the painter Claudio Frank, then again along the Bristol Hotel, the Palace Hotel, Villa Istranka to the promontory Punta Kolova and back to the Milenij Hotel. er Strand ist sandig mit betonierten Liegeflächen und liegt direkt im Stadtzentrum von Ičići. Für Kinder und Jugendliche ist dieser Strand besonders geeignet, da es jede Menge Platz zum Spielen gibt und der weitläufige Spielplatz nicht nur eine Kletterwand, Rutschen und Schaukeln bietet, sondern auch zwei Volleyballplätze und ein Trampolin. Schirme und Liegen kann man sich am Strand ausleihen, Massagen am Strand werden angeboten und es gibt auch einige Strandcafés und Restaurants.

Summer action for Kids
T
he Naša djeca (Our children) Association in Opatija will organize, as it always does, the summer activities for children. This programme starts on June 13th and lasts until August 31st, 2017. The activities include swimming under professional supervision, participation in various workshops such as painting and creative workshops, social games, storytelling, watching cartoons and the like, in the company of their peers. Family beach in Ičići
T
he beach in Ičići is partly sandy and partly concrete, located in the center of this little town. A special feature of the beach is the fact that it is fully adapted for children and has plenty of room to play with a spacious playground with not only the climbing wall for climbing, slides, swings, but also two pitches for volleyball and trampoline. Parasols and deck chairs can be rented on the beach, you can also get a massage or grab a cup of coffee or have a snack/lunch in many coffee bars and restaurants on the beach.
