Discover the Cultural Heritage of the Old Kastav and read about this wonderful little town above Opatija (p.4 / 5). The traditional cherry festival in Lovran should not be missed. It is the place where you can try different kinds of cherry dishes and cakes or simply freshly picked Lovran cherries. Entdecken Sie das kulturelle Erbe des alten Kastav ie Stadt Kastav war schon immer und zu Recht stolz auf ihr Kulturerbe und die Veranstaltungen sind bis heute ihr bekanntestes Merkmal geblieben. Im Laufe der Jahrhunderte hat die Stadt einen bedeutenden Teil ihrer kulturhistorischen Denkmäler und Traditionen bewahrt, doch hat jede neue Generation der Kastaver dem komplexen Mosaik der Stadtkultur ein weiteres Stück hinzugefügt. Kastav pflegt schon lange eine hochentwickelte Musiktradition, sowie andere Kulturbereiche und veranstaltet viele Events. In den vergangenen Jahrzehnten fanden regelmäßig der Kultursommer Kastafsko kulturno leto, das Kastav Blues Festival und das Gitarrenfestival statt und gaben damit Amateurmusikern und anderen Kulturfreunden Anlass immer wieder diesen Ort zu besuchen. Zu den jahrhundertealten Veranstaltungen zählt die Bela Nedeja, das Fest des jungen Weins Belica. Heute, genau wie in alten Zeiten, wird Bela Nedeja am ersten Sonntag im Oktober mit einer großen Messe in Kastav gefeiert. Dieses beliebte Volksfest bietet verschiedene Programme wie alte Handwerkskunst, eine Weinmesse, Ausstellungen, Musikshows, Bühnenaufführungen, Buchpromotionen, eine große Auswahl an verschiedenen hausgemachten Speisen und Getränken und vielen nützlichen Gebrauchsgütern an. Wie sehr die Einwohner von Kastav ihr Erbe schätzen, geht aus der Museumssammlung der Region Kastav hervor, die 1981 gegründet wurde und archäologische Fundstücke, Töpferwaren und Schmuck ausstellt. Alles wurde in der Umgebung gefunden und zeugt von der Geschichte der Stadt. In Pelini, dem ältesten Teil von Kastav, wurde in

einem Gebäude, in dem einst die Böttcherei untergebracht war, das Böttcherwarenmuseum mit einer der ersten Sammlungen dieser Art in der Gegend, eingerichtet. Das Museum selbst erinnert an eine alte Böttcherwerkstatt und dort finden gelegentlich auch Fachvorträge statt. Dort sind Werkzeuge und Böttcherwaren ausgestellt und Weine und Spirituosen aus der Gegend können verkostet werden. Diese bescheidene Werkstatt hat schon viele weltberühmte Künstler zusammen mit anderen Besuchern herzlich willkommen geheißen. Nach dem Böttchermuseum wurde die Kupferschmiedesammlung unter der Fortica eingerichtet, und dass an einem Ort, wo früher die Kupferschmiede des bekannten Schmieds Milko Osojnak stand. Dort gibt es eine Schmiede, ein Wasserspeicherbecken aus Stein und authentische Kupferwaren, die früher in Haushalten für die Zubereitung von Speisen verwendet wurden, wie Kessel, Töpfe, Pfannen und Eimer. Das Museum mit seinen vielen Fotos lässt den Geist vergangener Zeiten aufleben. In der Altstadt von Kastav, genannt Pelini, gibt es einen wahren Insidertipp: Idicas Bäckerei. Sie gehört zum Ethnographischen Museum, ist dem Bäckerhandwerk gewidmet ist und nach Ida Bačić - Idica, benannt, der letzten Bäckerin aus Kastav, an die sich die Einheimischen noch heute als gute Bäckerin und Köchin erinnern. Das Museum liegt an einem authentischen Ort, in dem der traditionellen Holzofen aus Stein und Ziegeln wiederhergestellt wurde. Daneben liegt die alte Holzschaufel. Heute noch können Besucher in Idicas Bäckerei die gute alte Atmosphäre und den Geschmack von frisch gebackenem Brot genießen.

Discover the Cultural Heritage of the Old Kastav he town of Kastav has always been, and rightly so, proud of its cultural heritage. Its cultural events are the city’s most recognisable feature to this day. Through the centuries Kastv has preserved a substantial part of its cultural-historical monuments and traditions. Each new generation of Kastav’s inhabitants adds another piece to the complex mosaic of the town’s culture. Kastav can pride itself on a higly developed musical tradition as well as on other aspects of mainly amateur cultural activity. During the past decades, events such as Kastafsko kulturno leto (The Kastav Summer of Culture), Kastav Blues Festival and Festival gitare (The Guitar Festival) have built upon the firm foundations of amateur cultural activities in Kastav. Amongst the century-old events is Bela nedeja (The White Sunday), the new wine (belica) festival. Today, just like in ancient times, Bela nedeja is celebrated on the first Sunday in October along with a great fair. This popular folk festival features various events such as a presentation of old handicrafts, wine fair, exhibitions, music shows, stage performances, book promotions and a selection of different homemade food and drinks and other goods for sale. One can discover how highly the people of Kastav value their heritage by visiting The Museum Collection of the Kastav Region established in 1981. The collection features archaeological findings such as pottery and jewellery found at sites in the town’s nucleus and around it, as

well as different artefacts and documents that bear evidence of the town’s history. In Pelini, the oldest part of Kastav, in a building that once housed the cooperage, The Cooperage Museum Collection, one of the first of the Kastav County Collections, was established. The museum resembles a former cooper’s workshop. Occasionally, also, cooperage craft presentations are held. A cooper’s tools and familiar barrels and casks are exhibited and tasting of Kastav wines and spirits is on offer. Through the years, the workshop has cordially welcomed many worldrenowned artists along with other less famous but dear guests. After The Cooperage Museum Collection, The Coppersmith Collection was established beneath the Fortica, in a place that once housed coppersmith’s workshop of a well-known Kastav coppersmith Mr. Milko Osojnak. The Coppersmith Collection exhibits a blacksmith’s forge, water-storage stone basin and authentic copperware that were once used in households for food preparation: kettles, pots, pans, and buckets. The museum is decorated with photographs and one can feel the spirit of the times past. Idica’s Bakery is located in the old town of Kastav, in the area called Pelini. This is a part of the Local Ethnographic Museum dedicated to the bakery trade and named after Ida Bačić (Idica), the last female baker from Kastav whom local people still today remember as a skilled baker and cook. The museum is located in an authentic venue that features a renovated traditional wood-fired bread oven built of stone and bricks and an old wooden bread shovel. Visitors to the Idica’s Bakery can enjoy its authentic atmosphere and the aroma and taste of freshly baked bread.

König der Učka King of Učka Der Tourismusverband Ičići organisiert in Zusammenarbeit mit AD Natura Sport eine neue Freiluftveranstaltung des Königs der Učka, die am 29. September 2018 stattfinden wird. König der Učka ist ein Freizeit-Radrennen, das von Ičići vom Meeresspiegel bis zum höchsten Gipfel der Učka - Vojak führt. Die Straße von Ičići, die auf dem Meeresspiegel beginnt führt bis zum der Gipfel des Učka Berges und ist somit eine perfekte Route für Radfahre und eine Herausforderung für alle Radsport-Fans und Hill-Climbing-Liebhaber. Ob Sie ein professioneller Radfahrer, ein Amateur oder nur ein Wochenend-Krieger sind, dieser Aufstieg wird Sie nicht gleichgültig lassen, es wird Sie atemlos lassen. Um an die Spitze zu kommen, müssen Sie fest in die Pedale treten. Aber Sie werden mit einer wunderschönen Aussicht von oben und einer fantastischen Abfahrt zurück zum Meer belohnt. Das ist die Učka, unser Berg, er verlangt sehr viel, abergibt viel zurück. Der Aufstieg auf die Učka ist eine der Etappen eines großen Radrennens durch Kroatien - Tour of Croatia. 2016. Ičići Tourist Bord in cooperation with AD Natura Sport organizes new outdoor manifestation King of Učka which will be held on September 29th 2018. King of Učka is a recreational road bike race which leads from Ičići, from sea level, to the highest peak of Učka mountain - Vojak. The road from Ičići, which begins on the sea level and leads to Vojak, the peak of Ucka mountain, is the perfect cycling playground and a challenge for all cycling enthusiasts and hill climb lovers. Whether you are a professional cyclist, an amateur or just a weekend warrior, this climb will not leave you indifferent, it will leave you breathless. To get to the top you will have to squeeze the pedals very hard. But you will be rewarded with a gorgeous view from the top and a fantastic downhill back to the sea. This is Učka, our mountain, she ask a lot, but she gives a lot. That›s why we love her and we›re coming back again. The climb to Učka is one of the standard stages of a great cycling race through Croatia - Tour of Croatia. 2016. STAGE 4: Crikvenica-Ucka 2017. Die kleine Stadt Volosko ist für ihre hervorragenden Restaurants weit bekannt. Während die meisten Restaurants auf Fischgerichte konzentriert sind, haben wir hier etwas Traditionelles gefunden, aber doch in der Premium Klasse. Das kleine Wirtshaus „Mala krčma Skalinada“ bietet Gerichte mit Zutaten, die typisch für das Küstenland und Istrien sind - in diesem Restaurant wird Fleisch vom Boškarin angeboten (typisch istrisches Vieh), sowie hausgemachter Hüttenkäse und wilder Spargel mit heimischen Zutaten. Für eine noch angenehmere Atmosphäre empfehlen wir diese kleine Oase im Frühjahr oder Sommer zu besuchen, wenn es möglich ist im versteckten Garten zu essen, der Ihr Abendessen zu einem kleinen magischen Abenteuer macht. The small town Volosko is famous for its top gastronomy restaurants. While most of the restaurants are focused on seafood dishes we have found something more traditional but still with premium note. “Mala krčma Skalinada” offers dishes with ingredients specific to the part „primorje“ and „Istria“ and therefore, in this small restaurant you can taste the meat of the boškarin (typical Istrian cattle), homemade cottage cheese or wild asparagus favorite local ingredient. For an even more pleasant atmosphere we recommend you to visit this little oasis during the spring or summer when it is possible to eat in the hidden garden that will make your overall experience magical. It has been more than 40 years since the opening line of Sultans of Swing was first heard and broadcast around the world. In the process, it introduced us to a remarkable guitar player and songwriter Mark Knopfler, and to what has become a musical universe unto itself: the music of Dire Straits. Over 25 years have passed since Dire Straits broke up, leaving behind them a collection of some of the finest compositions and musical performances that the heyday of rock ever produced. If anything, their reputation has only grown with time. Record sales of more than one hundred and twenty million albums continue to increase as new young fans discover the music and join the band’s massive worldwide following. This trend is echoed in their 2018 inauguration into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame. This inauguration took place against the backdrop of a break lasting two decades - and it reflected an increasing demand to hear one of the most dramatic songbooks in rock history played live again. The former members of Dire Straits, Alan Clark, Chris White and Phil Palmer formed The Straits for a charity show at The Royal Albert Hall in 2011. With the prolific

2011 die Band The Straits, um für eine Wohltätigkeitsveranstaltung in der Royal Albert Hall zu spielen. Nach dem erfolgreichen Knopfler, der eine unglaublich gute Solokarriere hatte, nahm Alan Clark den Sänger Terence Reis in die Band auf, um die Rolle des Frontmans zu übernehmen. Als die Tour dreieinhalb Jahre später endete, hatte die Band mehr als 150 Shows in 25 Ländern auf der ganzen Welt hinter sich. Nach einer Einladung, um in Neuseeland und Australien zu spielen, fanden sich Chris White und Terence Reis abermals für die Dire Straits Experience zusammen. Ihre Wiedervereinigung bedeutet, dass einige der besten professionellen Musiker, die Großbritannien zu bieten hat, wieder gemeinsam auftreten werden. Knopfler enjoying an incredibly successful solo career, Alan Clark called upon the singer songwriter, Terence Reis to front the band in his absence. By the time The Straits ended, three and a half years later, the band had played more than 150 shows in 25 countries around the world. However, an invitation to play a series of shows in New Zealand and Australia has seen Chris White and Terence Reis collaborating again for the Dire Straits Experience. Joining them is a stellar band of some of the finest professional musicians the UK has to offer. er Strand Tomaševac ist sandig mit betonierten Liegeflächen und liegt an der Strandpromenade Lungo Mare in der Nähe des Hotel Ambasador in Opatija. Für Kinder und Jugendliche ist dieser Strand besonders geeignet, da es jede Menge Platz zum Spielen gibt und der weitläufige Spielplatz nicht nur eine Kletterpyramide, Rutschen und Schaukeln bietet, sondern auch einen Fußballplatz. Family beach

he Tomaševac Beach is partly sandy and partly concrete, located on the Lungo Mare promenade near the Ambassador Hotel in Opatija. A special feature of the beach is the fact that it is fully adapted for children and has plenty of room to play with a spacious playground with not only the pyramid for climbing, slides, swings, but also smaller football pitch. Parasols and deck chairs can be rented on the beach, and there is a coffee bar on the beach with food and drink.
