A Good Time to Take Stock by Terry McFadden In the blink of an eye it seems another year is nearly gone. With the issues involving Covid, social distancing and masking, time has flown and we are all one year older. December is always a good time to take stock of where we are in life and all that we have to be thankful for. With all of the problems and unrest going on in so much of the world and also on a national scale, we are so lucky to be living here in our nice peaceful community where we have no problems of any substance. There is virtually no crime in our community, we have no vandalism to worry about, and we don’t even have any serious traffic problems to work around. Our Southern Arizona climate has to be just about the best that can be expected this time of the year and hey, we even have the lowest HOA dues of any community with our amenities in this part of Arizona. What more could we ask for? Perhaps we should use this time to give thanks for all of our blessings and especially for our good luck to find such a great place as SCOV to live. Many of us will be going away during the holiday season and that gives reason to pause and to be careful to keep ourselves safe during our travels. Holiday traffic is notoriously problematic and needs extra caution to ensure that we arrive back safe and sound. So drive carefully, celebrate responsibly and come home safe. As we celebrate the holiday season, whether it be a religious holiday or a secular one, the Board of Directors wishes you and yours a very merry Christmas, a happy Hanukah, a joyous Kwanza and a happy and prosperous New Year.

Continue Safe Practices Throughout the holiday season we are blessed with visitors from all around the world. Many of those guests include resident’s children and grandchildren. It is always nice to welcome our guests who really enjoy our temperate weather, our facilities and visiting with friends and family. May I take just a moment to encourage all to keep safe during this continued pandemic? We recognize as people come from around the world, or from next door, we are not familiar with their preferences, customs or thoughts as it relates to the pandemic and safety. I recommend following the CDC guidelines of wearing a mask when indoors, where you can’t maintain a six-foot social distance as you attend functions and, of course, when supporting The Views Restaurant as you enter and exit. Like many of you, I would like to think we are all safe in Sun City Oro Valley. However, we now see times when even those who have been vaccinated are sometimes getting this terrible virus. I plead with you to take every precaution you can to keep yourselves, your family, your friends and neighbors and even our staff safe. Our sacrifices for safety’s sake today will yield a bright and healthy future. I thank you for all you do to make this community so wonderful. It is a delight to work for you. Your staff and I express our gratitude.
