What not to wear: Sandals, flip-flops or street shoes. When using cardio equipment or in an area with lots of heavy objects being tossed about, you want your feet covered and at least somewhat protected. Republic Services scov@republicservices.com www.suncityorovalley.com/members/services/trash

Important reminder: Republic Services picks up between 6 AM and 6 PM on your designated trash day. You must have your trash and recycle bins out at 6 AM or you risk a missed pickup. SCOV has a dedicated customer service representative with Republic Services. Many of you are aware of the labor challenges the country is currently experiencing, and Republic Services highly encourages residents to email any service issues, rather than telephone, in order to receive the best service. Our representative can be reached at scov@ republicservices.com. This email is listed on the Republic magnet you received in your annual dues mailing. Visit our web page where you can find the following information: 1) Recycling: View a video and web page on what Republic takes in their recycling bins. Glass is accepted for recycling. 2) Holiday schedule: Check if you need to shift setting your bins out due to a holiday. 3) Report a problem: Missed pickup? Bin damaged? Click the REPORT A PROBLEM tab, fill out our form and Republic will receive a copy.

Architectural Review Kris Ahlstrand 510-693-5502 ARC@suncityorovalley.com Zoom meetings Second and Fourth Tue., 2 PM

A lot has happened over the past year. The Architectural Review Committee (ARC) has been busy reviewing home improvement submittals weekly, and based on homeowner submittal feedback, we have been updating SCOV’s Development Standards to make them current with the times and easier to understand. Possible changes, pending Board of Directors approval, pertain to adding colors to roll-down shade screens that complement your home and adding a couple of window colors that are now available from window manufacturers to accommodate your design needs. Approved privacy screening is planned to be expanded, with continued respect to your neighbors’ view loss. Resin storage bins in your back patio areas may be allowed for storing patio pillows and cushions. These containers must still be hidden from street view and your neighbor. No extra-large bins to store overflow goods from your home or garage are allowed. An Approved Tree List has been added, which gives a great variety of trees that will not grow over 25 feet. And we are exploring one of the most-asked questions, “Can I paint my front door a color not included with our current paint schemes?” These are just some of the changes we worked on in 2021 that the Board will review in the next month or two. The ARC is listening and wants to make changes pertinent to our changing times while maintaining architectural consistency as a priority.
