2022 Martello Half Marathon The Martello Half Marathon finally emerges from Lockdown, reinvigorated for 2022! As you will all know, many events have been cancelled or postponed over the last two years, including the Martello Half Marathon organised by Seaford’s Martello Rotary Club. Although restrictions meant we couldn’t hold proper events, we did keep the pot boiling with a number of virtual runs, but of course these are nothing like the real thing. We had hoped to hold the race on Sunday 18th July last year, but this turned out not to be possible due to clashes with other events held on the same day. So, on Sunday 27th March, nearly two years after the last event, the second Martello Half Marathon will take place, starting and finishing on the seafront near the Rugby Club at the Salts Recreation Ground, and offering a beautiful but tough run following footpaths and tracks
up onto the Downs. After taking in the stunning views, there will be an exhilarating downhill run to Bishopstone, then along the seafront to the cheers of the crowds! 2019 attracted over 150 runners, and we are hoping for more this year. In fact initial entries have been so encouraging, we’ve had to restrict the race to the first 275 entries due to constraints on some facilities.
