Google’s Pay Per Gaze – The Future Of Paid Advertising? Google have this week reassured early Google Glass adopters that they should not expect to see ads pop up in their vision any time soon, while they seem to be investing in an innovative pay per gaze advertising system. Could this be the future of paid advertising, with Google already being awarded patent for this technology? In an attempt to combine offline and online advertising, Google will charge advertisers based on the length of time a user “gazes” at an advert. The patent will also allow Google to utilise eye tracking technology and even determine a user’s emotional response to provide invaluable data and customer insight like never before to brands. Giving advertisers the opportunity to use this insight to retarget users across device and platform identifying user using the same Google account, will open up a plethora of targeting options for future advertisers. How long before we start seeing PPG (Pay Per Gaze) campaigns being run alongside PPC (Pay Per Click) campaigns, is yet to be announced, but do expect some revolutionary changes to paid advertising in the next few years as competitors try and follow suit.

Faster Smoother Bing Ads Editor This week, Mircrosoft have released screenshots of further updates to the Bing Ads Editor that will see a more streamlined navigation structure alongside a faster data loading system introduced. Giving advertisers a user interface that they have been accustomed to from using Google, the new changes will give advertisers an extra 20% more work space and more time to work on the accounts rather than uploading changes.

Google ‘Not Provided’ Searches Reach 49% In the past week, BrightEdge have released a report highlighting the ever increasing % of organic searches that are appearing as ‘not provided’. They have reported that across 8,400 brands, 49% of queries on average do not include the search term, with this figure rising to 56% for electronic, software and technology companies.
Looking at SMG clients, this figure appears to be slightly lower at around the 40% mark, but nonetheless the % of ‘not provided’ search queries continues to rise and create complications for search practitioners worldwide.

Bing Ads Dimensions – Coming Soon Everything you are used to from Google Adwords, is gradually being introduced to Bing Ads as they continue to deliver further parity with other bid management tools. Bing announced last week that they will also be introducing dimensions into the UI, and allowing advertisers to split up data by search term, geographic location, website, time (hour/day/week/month), url and call details. While there has been no official release date, expect to see this feature arrive in the coming months.
