ISSUE 120 – 24th January 2014 Crawl Errors Reporting Update in Webmaster Tools This week, John Mueller, a Google Website Error Analyst, acknowledged that there is occasional confusion by webmasters regarding crawl errors reporting. Google’s Matt Cutts warns against Guest Blogging for SEO Google’s Matt Cutts recently published a blog post where he warned against guest blogging for SEO purposes. He states; ‘if you are using guest blogging as a way of gaining links in 2014 you should probably stop.’ His reason for this statement circulates around the fact that guest posting has become less respectable with reports of spammy links being placed on blogs and guest posters ‘paying for PageRank’. It is not all negative as guest posting can provide increased exposure and reach for a brand but the warning is that it should not be relied on as a main strategy for link building. Additionally, when accepting guest posts bloggers should be willing to vouch for the brand/person involved and make sure the posts are of high-quality and authorship.
