ISSUE 122 – 07th February 2014 Yahoo Getting Back Into PPC? Recent news from Yahoo suggests that they are looking into ending the 10 year alliance they have with Microsoft for search. Google’s Crack Down on “Fraudulent” YouTube Views YouTube visitors watch more than six billion hours of video every month [http://www.youtube.com/yt/press/en-GB/statistics.html] or so it has been claimed. But what if some of these “visitors” are not actually human? It may not come as a surprise to you that channel owners will try to inflate their view counts artificially given the amount of benefits from successfully gaming the view count system brings you (increased video visibility, web fame and an increase to the amount of money you could make). The movement to crack down on fraudulent views came to light in an announcement made by Google’s Philipp Pfeiffenberger [http://googleonlinesecurity.blogspot. co.uk/2014/02/keeping-youtubeviews-authentic.html] saying that they will be “periodically auditing the views a video has received”.
