Demo Video Showcases Microsoft’s Cortana A recently leaked video shows Microsoft’s Siri and Google's Now/Voice competitor Cortana in action. The name Cortana originates from a character in the game Halo. It was originally thought that Cortana would resemble her character in the game, however it appears that “she” won’t have a face or a body. Cortana is intended to help users discover and search for information. However, because Microsoft does not have as much data as Google to power predictive searches and recommendations, Cortana relies on asking the user a series of questions. In addition, Cortana will reportedly draw in data from Bing and Foursquare to deliver contextual information to further personalise the user’s experience. This will all be augmented by bits it learns about you from your interactions with the assistant, along with customisable information such as flight info, reminders, contacts info, and more.

Bing Web Search Is Now Available on XBOX One This week, Microsoft made a system wide update to Xbox One that allows users to experience Bing’s full web search capabilities. The Xbox One update includes, being able to gather Bing marketplace results and relevant results from the web, and users can access content faster by highlighting text on the web page then press the menu button to engage Bing search.

Google Shopping API Available Google Shopping Campaigns came out of beta last month and now the API has been launched. This is beneficial for all retail advertisers and will likely lead to more and simpler integrations with third party tools. The latest news also suggests that bid simulation tools will shortly be released by Google.
