Google announces ‘next generation’ Panda update Google’s Head of Webspam, Matt Cutts, announced at Search Marketing Expo that his team is working on a ‘next generation’ Panda update. The original Panda update was Google's algorithmic answer to low quality websites with thin content that ranked highly in search results. However the side effect was enormous for smaller, less authoritative websites regardless of whether they had great quality content - significantly reducing their search visibility. The goal of the new update is to help small businesses that may have been impacted by previous versions – a ‘kinder, softer’ Panda. There was no mention of when we’re like to see the new Panda refresh, but now that Google rolls out updates regularly, we can expect to see it live within the next few months.

Bing Ads Launch New Bid Simulator Tool Last week, Bing Ads announced the launch of a new bid simulator tool called “Bid Landscape” in the US only to start, that will give advertisers a idea of the impact changing keyword bids will have on activity. This tool will utilises a 7-day historical window to estimate performance metrics such as impressions and clicks for a specified keyword bid change.
