ISSUE 153 – 26th Sept. 2014 Bing launching dynamic sitelinks Back in July, Google launched dynamic site links which are clickable text additions to ads that are auto-generated. Bing has now announced that they too will be launching Dynamic Sitelinks (firstly in the US). Bing testing has shown a 14% uplift in CTR. Advertisers are eligible for dynamic site links if manual site links are not already set up and if the display URL flags up deeplinks to the Bing algorithm. It is possible to opt out of dynamic site links by contacting Bing. Shared By Jasdeep Mondae Follow the link for more details: http://bit.ly/1pcCtpw

DuckDuckGo Search Engine Blocked in China DuckDuckGo the search engine that is focused around user privacy in China, appears to have been blocked, according to a tweet by CEO Gabriel Weinberg. Apart from acknowledging that, he stated that he was unaware of the reason behind the abrupt blocking of the engine, that ensures user searches are not tracked. Despite this claim though, it could be argued that it comes as no surprise given that China treats censorship, particularly on the internet, as a priority and if anything it’s more surprising the engine was in use at any point at all. 2013 statistics reported 1 billion searches with increasing growth year on year, so with so many untrackable searches, it appears the Chinese authorities felt it was time to step in.

New Structured Snippets in Google Web Search Google recently unveiled a new feature that “incorporates facts into individual result snippets in Web Search”. As can be seen in the below example for the search query ‘Nikon D7100’, interesting and relevant information regarding the camera appears under the main meta description.

Google hopes this new feature will further improve the user experience by helping to provide even more relevant information.
