ISSUE 167 – 16th January 2015 360 Search Launches Haosou Search Engine This month, China’s second largest search engine has rebranded from 360 Search to Haosou (a Chinese word which literally means “good search”). December 2014 data shows that the engine had 17.5% market share across desktop and tablet devices. The rebrand has been positioned as the launch of a standalone search engine product, separate from the company’s popular anti-virus internet security software, which is more geared towards the mobile marketplace (where 360 only has 12% market share). At present, there will be no changes to advertising and this will continue to run through the 360 platform, with ads being served on the new haosou.com domain. Where third party bid management tools are being utilised, 360 Search has advised to review settings and test syncing as the change in their domain could impact this.
