Google announced earlier this year that they will be making wholesale changes to the Google Adwords system in the form of Enhanced Campaigns. The Drum have spoken to a number of search experts in the field including Oscar Romero from Starcom Mediavest Group to find out how much it will impact advertisers. “This announcement is a game changer and its effects will be seen in the coming months. It brings advantages to PPC teams via simpler campaign set-up and more time for optimisation but also disadvantages. Bing Ads Head to Oceania this Summer – 4th Apr 2013 Bing announced this week that Bing Ads will be launching in Australia and New Zealand this Summer, with a reported live date of July. Bing Ads will be partnering with Mi9, a digital media company in Australia that has been set up as joint venture between Microsoft and Nine Entertainment Co. While Google remains the significant market leader in this region Bing, have claimed there are 5.5 million monthly users in Australia. -

Google Streamlines AdWords Trademark Policies Globally – 27th Mar 2013 Starting on 23 April 2013, keywords that were restricted as a result of a trademark investigation in Google Adwords will no longer be restricted in China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea and Brazil. This change means that the AdWords policy on trademarks as keywords is now harmonised throughout the world. Using 3rd party trademark terms in ad copies are still restricted.


According to Google, its goal is to provide users with the most relevant information. But the reason they updated the trademark policy is that Google believe users will benefit from having more choice. -

Enhanced Campaigns Introduce Device Specific Keyword Level URLs – 4th Apr 2013 This week Google have announced an update to Enhanced Campaigns allowing users to utilise a new ValueTrack feature for device specific keyword level URLs. This will come as good news for many advertisers who have been providing feedback on the restrictions that not having this option brings to certain clients. -
