Global Ad Spend Struggles in Q1 – Nielsen Report A recent study by Nielsen has highlighted the growth and struggles of certain industries within the advertising space. Global ad spend has seen the fastest growth in ‘industry & services’ with a reported 8% YoY growth in Q1, while the ‘automotive’ industry has seen a 5% YoY reduction in global ad spend in Q1. Looking deeper into the ‘industry & services’ sector, it is reported that Asia-Pacific and Latin America regions have the most ad spend growth at 22.1%and 10% respectively.

Google Updates Reported Adwords Quality Score This week Google announced plans to make changes to how Adwords quality scores are reported: “As part of our ongoing efforts to help improve the quality of our ads, we're announcing an update that changes how each keyword’s 1-10 numeric Quality Score is reported in AdWords. Under the hood, this reporting update will tie your 1-10 numeric Quality Score more closely to its three key sub factors -- expected clickthrough rate, ad relevance, and landing page experience. We're making this change so that the Quality Score in your reports more closely reflects the factors that influence the visibility and expected


performance of your ads. We hope that providing you more transparency into your 1-10 Quality Score will help you improve the quality of your ads.” -

Universal Search Results for Twitter This week Twitter announced plans to roll out what a version of “universal search results”, bringing Twitter’s web search more in line with the current mobile experience. With these changes Twitter will bring more search functionalities, and Facebook-esque “social context” features as you type a search.
