Fun, continued.
Sips & Gulps owner Kelly Follis says they are so excited to finally be open to the public.
“Our vision for this, is just community. People need places to come and be together. We just wanted you to feel comfortable and we wanted a place that you would feel welcomed -- whoever you are. We want you to feel like you have some time to relax and unwind. We want this to be about community, so we have community food trucks here. We are going to have a different food truck every Friday. On Thursdays, we’ll have as many local or area entertainers as I can get on Thursday and sometimes on Sundays,” said Follis.
The new spot in downtown Seguin, even got a blessing from Father Stephen Shortess, of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, who jokingly said it was a challenge coming up
with just the right blessing for a wine bar.
“As we gather in this wine bar, we remember the Wedding at Cana, where you turned water into wine and revealed your glory to all. May this new wine for the community of Seguin be a sign of joy and celebration (and) a reminder of your abundant blessings. May all who gather here find fellowship and friendship, and experience family together. And may your love flow freely among us. Bless this wine bar and all who enter here. May it be a place of hospitality and grace,” said Shortess in his prayer.
The grand opening celebration at Johnny Pickles also included live music, food, market vendors and more for people that attended its event on Saturday.
You can see pictures from each grand opening event in today’s Seguin Daily News, which can be accessed online at seguintoday.com.

Two Thirds of Most Polluted U.S. Counties in California
(San Diego, CA) -- A report says California has the majority of most of the polluted counties in the U.S. The “Air Quality of Life Index” shows that in 2021, 20 of the 30 U.S. counties with the highest levels of pollution were in California. Alabama Attorney General Says He Can Prosecute Anyone Arranging Travel For Abortions
(Montgomery, AL) -- Alabama’s attorney general says he can prosecute people who make travel arrangements for women getting out-of-state abortions. In a court filing, Republican Steve Marshall wrote that providing transportation for Alabamians leaving the state to get an abortion could be considered a “criminal conspiracy.” Marshall faced lawsuits in July from two women’s health centers and the organization Yellowhammer Fund, which says it supports “those who are pregnant and require assistance.” They argued that Marshall violated their constitutional rights by saying organizations that help pregnant people in Alabama get an abortion could face prosecution.
FDA To Finalize Menthol Tobacco Product Ban In “Coming Months”
(Washington, DC) -- The Food and Drug Administration will finalize a ban on menthol tobacco products in the next few months. The agency is still behind its initial schedule: it first announced it would ban the flavor in April 2022 with an August 2023 deadline. Now that August has come and gone, a spokesperson said the details will be hammered out and finalized “in the coming months.” Flavored cigarettes have been banned since 2009, but menthol was left out of that ban after lobbying from the industry.
Biden Admin Announces $450 Million To Fight Drug Overdoses
