READY, FIRE, AIM: New Hampshire State Police say the incident began whene driver cut off another as they were going through a toll plaza in Hooksett. "I believe there was gesturing between the two of them," notes Sgt. Charles Johnston. Then, investigators say, Nicholas Richer, 18, pulled out a flare gun, pointed it at the other driver, and fired. But the gun didn't go off until he pulled the gun back into his car. The flare ended up inside his own car, and "caught the right passenger's front seat on fire," Johnston said. A passenger, only described as a "youth," was sitting in that seat, and narrowly missed being hit. The other driver called 911, and a state trooper caught up with Richer at a gas station. Two women, aged 54 and 70, say they were fired in retaliation to complaining about the 73-year-old assessor's advances. After one incident, the woman confronted him, but he shrugged it off. "You don't know what you said?" she asked him. "No. I have no idea," he replied. "When I talk to you, I don't ever think much, I just keep saying it." A state panel agrees the women were fired in retaliation, and awarded them unemployment benefits. Meanwhile, the assessor has announced he will continue his re-election campaign. But there was no denying it when looking at her car: the windshield was smashed away, and the roof was peeled back to the tops of the rear seats. Paulson convinced the bleeding woman to go to the hospital. There, Paulson says, doctors tested Higgins' memory, "Like what's your name, your date of birth, where do you live? She knew everything like that. The accident was the only thing gone." In Greek mythology, Colchis was the location of the Golden Fleece sought by Jason and the Argonauts in Apollonius Rhodius' epic tale Argonautica. The incorporation of the Golden Fleece into the myth may have derived from the local practice of using fleeces to sift gold dust from rivers. Known to its natives as Egrisi or Lazica, Colchis was also the battlefield of the Lazic War fought between Byzantine Empire and Persia. George V was the last great king of the unified Georgian state. The Georgian Flag was designed during his reign. After his death, different local rulers fought for their independence from central Georgian rule, until the total disintegration of the Kingdom in the 15th century. Weakened by invasions. the Georgian Kingdom collapsed into anarchy by 1466 . Neighboring empires exploited the country, and beginning in the 16th century, the Persian Empire and the Ottoman Empire subjugated the eastern and western regions of Georgia, respectively. Sopa paraguaya is a traditional Paraguayan Literally meaning "Paraguayan soup", sopa paraguaya is similar to corn bread. Corn flour, cheese and milk and onions are common ingredients. A story of the origin of the dish involves Don Carlos Antonio L贸pez (the founder of the Paraguayan state and president of the country between 1841 and 1862) It is said that the great governor, a famously obese man, liked the white soup elaborated with milk, Paraguay cheese (fresh cheese), egg and corn flour. One day the mach煤( cook) mistakenly put too much corn flour to the mixture. Near noon, she found herself with two problems: first, the mixture was too thick , and second, she didn't have time to start over the process, or replace the favourite dish with another. So, showing off ,she decided with a mix of fear and wit, to pour the mixture into an iron container and cooked it in a clay oven, from which she obtained a "solid soup". Don Carlos, after tasting it, found it very delicious and immediately named it "sopa paraguaya".The only soup you can eat with your fingers ! Ingredients 1 large onion, finely diced
200g grated cheddar or Edam 100ml sunflower oil
500g harina de maize (cornmeal , maize flour) 6 eggs ,separated Salt and pepper
100ml cold water
Method Grease a pyrex dish aprrox. Preheat oven 200 Deg C Heat the oil in a large wok, gently fry the diced onion , until soft Beat the egg whites until light and fluffy Remove the wok from the heat and carefully add 100ml of cold water Gently stir the egg yolks into the fluffy egg whites Stir the flour into the onion and oil mixture, and then add the grated cheese, season well with salt and black pepper Gently fold the egg mix into the flour Transfer into the pyrex dish and bake until golden approx.. 30 minutes, and firm to touch Allow to cool, cut into small squares, serve with nibbles, or with bbq food.

We decided to go down to the Carihuela area in Torremolinos. We walked along the prom and back along the calle Builte and decided to call into Mojitos as friends had been a few times and had told how good the place is. We were not disappointed, they had a great selection of food on an extensive menu, with varied breakfasts, snacks, toasties and main meals. The choice was mouthwatering, home made pies, lamb cutlets, pork chops, chicken and fish, also some meal deals with wine all for under 19 Euros for two. The Irish sirloin steak deal with all the trimmings and a bottle of Rioja at only 22 Euros for two caught my eye so the decision was made, we sat down and were waited upon with some well priced drinks from a very good choice of spirits, beers, ciders and a very good Draught Guinness .
The food arrived and was superb and cooked to perfection. We noticed that they also do kids meals with all the usual choices to keep the kids happy. We sat outside on the terrace and watched the world go by. We noted that you can watch all the sports on a large projector screen, two large flat screens and large TVs so you wont miss a thing this year with the Olympics and the Euro Championships and they also have live entertainment seven nights a week, so much variation we had to note it down, with Karaoke that the kids loved with Robbie, Monday to Thursday. Siobhan with irish and country music on Fridays. In-Growing Toe Nails & Corns ….are you suffering in silence? Ingrowing Toe Nails: these are an everyday occurrence and can be self-inflicted. The main problem usually affects the big toe for various reasons such as cutting away the toe nail too short, cutting away the corners of the nail, picking at the nail or the overuse of trainer type shoes.
Causes other than those mentioned can also arise from footwear that is too tight or high heel shoes.If a person has a gait discrepancy with the way they walk, this could be being caused due to a problem with their hip(s), knee(s) or back. All of these can be connected with causing an in-growing toe nail.
This is a specialist´s role to elevate the condition for the client for obvious reasons. Firstly, being able to see what is going on in the area from a vantage point. Secondly, using sterile instruments to inspect and if necessary relieve/solve the issue in the correct way. Many people leave it too late.until the toe becomes inflamed and/or infected…if this does become the case then it will only make the treatment to resolve the issue more difficult, so it is always best to seek specialist help as early as possible. If the person is diabetic then they should always seek a specialist´s help!
Hard Corns: these are usually found on the tops of toes as well as underneath a person´s foot. Generally the corns on the toes are caused by the pressure of footwear or friction. Those corns underneath a person´s foot can be caused by worn out insoles in shoes that may have split or creased, thus
causing friction for the skin. Another cause of this type of corn is misplaced weight bearing, again usually from a gait problem. In both cases there is a need to properly address the cause before giving the required treatment. It is not recommended to use corn plasters in an effort to self treat. These plasters can have a corrosive acid on them and usually cover too large an area (not just the actual corn), resulting in the burning of surrounding skin. If they are used on a regular basis this could encourage scar tissue to form, because the acid softens the corn itself and surrounding tissue, these plasters may reduce some pressure pain but will not necessarily getting rid of the corn itself, once and for all. Again, if the person is a diabetic it would not be recommended to use these plasters as the broken skin caused by the acid in the plasters, could lead to a septic infection.

There were too many designers for me to go through individually but as usual all the dresses were simply fantastic and in every colour of the rainbow including quite a lot of black. From nudes through pastels to the more vibrant colours, there was something for everyone. Some designers favoured lightweight fabrics allowing flexibility and movement. Lots of frills, ruffles and tassels and all figure hugging. Some collections included mini or shorter skirted versions for the younger women. Another collection was an acknowledgement to the world of bullfighting, fusing flamenco and bullfighting, resulting in many styles, rich patterns and colours such as white and black and a range of red and blues. 'Serpent-Handling' West Virginia Pastor Dies From Snake Bite May , 2012 A "serpent-handling" West Virginia pastor died after his rattlesnake bit him during a church ritual, just as the man had apparently watched a snake kill his father years before. Pentecostal pastor Mark Wolford, 44, hosted an outdoor service at the Panther Wildlife Management Area in West Virginia Sunday, which he touted on his Facebook page prior to the event. "I am looking for a great time this Sunday," Wolford wrote May 22, according to the Washington Post. "It is going to be a homecoming like the old days. Good 'ole raised in the holler or mountain ridge running, Holy Ghost-filled speaking-in-tongues sign believers." Robin Vanover, Wolford's sister, told the Washington Post that 30 minutes into the outdoor service, Wolford passed around a poisonous timber rattlesnake, which eventually bit him.
"He laid it on the ground," Vanover said in the interview, "and he sat down next to the snake, and it bit him on the thigh." Vanover said Wolford was then transported to a family member's home in Bluefield about 80 miles away to recover. But as the situation worsened, he was taken to a hospital where he later died. Officials at the Panther Wildlife Management Area had been unaware of the event until they were notified by callers after the service. "We did not know that this event was happening, and if we had known about it or if we had been asked for permission, it would not have been granted," Hoy Murphy, public information officer for the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, told ABC News. Hoy said West Virginia state park rules prohibit animals other than dogs and cats on the property. While snake-handling is legal in West Virginia, other Appalachian states, some have banned the practice in public spaces. Snake-handlers point to scripture as evidence that God calls them to engage in such a practice to show their faith in him. Wolford said watched his own father die at the age of 39 after a rattlesnake bit him during a similar service. "He lived 101/2 hours," Wolford told the Washington Post Magazine. "When he got bit, he said he wanted to die in the church.

‘Liability for damage caused by hunting dogs’ By Javier Florido Martin, Lawyer with De Cotta Law.In many areas of our province rural properties are located in, or close to, areas reserved for hunting (Cotos or Reservas de Caza). It is fairly normal in Spain that hunters are accompanied by their own dogs, but these dogs can sometimes cause damage to neighbouring properties.Spanish law dictates that hunters must be licensed with the local authority and if they hunt with dogs, they must take out an insurance policy for Civil Liability. Therefore damage caused by hunting dogs or other animals are one of the few cases of strict liability under the eyes of the law, so that compensation is virtually automatic unless it is proven that the other party, the victim, was to blame.Recently, De Cotta Law successfully defended a client who suffered damage by hunting dogs. The victim owned a house near a hunting reserve, and his property is used for the breeding of parrots and other exotic birds. It was on one occasion that the owner returned to his property to find that several birds had been attacked by dogs, resulting in the serious injury and death of many of them. However, the local ‘Guardia Civil’ were able to locate and apprehend the owners of the dogs and therefore a case was brought against the hunters.In court, De Cotta Law successfully acted for the breeder of the exotic birds and was able to secure compensation of some 6,000 euro; which was paid by the insurance company of the hunting dog owners.
iThis is an interesting case as it is clearly underlines that dog owners should be aware that they are liable for the damage their animals cause, and that they must have adequate insurance cover. In addition the case also shows that if one suffers damage or loss caused by a dog or other animal, there is the opportunity to seek financial compensation. Chamelions Chameleons need very little introduction they are instantly recognisable by both their appearance and their behaviour. All members of the genus Chamaeleo (the only one which occurs in Europe) have laterally compressed bodies, a coiled, prehensile tail - like that of a monkey, allowing them to use it as a fifth limb to grasp branches) a very prominent head with usually some sort of adornment in the form of a casque or horns, fused eyelids that cover eyes which can move independently of each other, and feet with fused fingers and toes, essentially making the normally five digits of most lizards into two rather thick ones that form a pincer shape ideal for grasping and walking along branches. The tongue is specially adapted for catching insect prey at long range, being coiled up inside the mouth like a huge spring with an enlarged sticky end. Chameleons invariably stalk very slowly through vegetation (usually in the trees, although they do descend to the ground), focus on the target prey and shoot the tongue out at it and equally quickly withdraw it back with the prey stuck on the end. Although chameleons are renowned for changing colour, this is in fact more a reflection of their mood, communication to other chameleons or body temperature than any conscious attempt at camouflage. As a rule these are not social animals even by the standards of reptiles, adults tending to avoid one another. Males have their own territories that often include females and defend these spaces fairly vigorously.C. chamaeleon is a medium-sized chameleon with a total length of about 30cm/12�, of which somewhat less than half of this is the tail. The head is distinguished by a crest or casque on the top that curves backwards and a flap-like lobe on either side of the head. The normal ground colour is a grass green, but this can change to blackish, brown, grey or white, sometimes with orange spots or a broken white line along the side. Individuals spotted at night are often very pale. They are daytime animals, being most active in the morning and afternoon.
The species is found in the southern coastal areas of Spain and Portugal, including the Algarve, MĂĄlaga, Cadiz, Huelva and AlmerĂa. It can also be found on coastal dunes as well as bushes and in pine and eucalyptus woods. In Iberia it prefers low altitudes, up to 800m, but in North Africa can be found in the Atlas mountains about twice as high up.Although there are no scientifically recognised variations in the Iberian populations at any rate, one authority noted that Iberian and North African populations tend to have a shorter tail and a lower casque on the head of the male.The Mediterranean or "Common" Chameleon's diet consists of various insects such as grasshoppers and crickets, flies, butterflies and moths, but they sometimes take small lizards or nestling birds. Chameleons in general are known to be fairly fussy about having a varied diet in contrast to most lizards which will happily thrive on one or two staple items if necessary. The breeding season is later in the year than for most reptiles, during August and September males become notably aggressive towards one another, displaying their colours (often a deep green with black spots), puffing out their throats and gaping. Females are also displayed to. Mating lasts about 15 minutes and normally takes place twice daily over a two week period. After 50-60 days the female digs a hole 1520cm deep and lays about 30 eggs. Incubation lasts no less than 8-9 months, so that eggs laid in one year do not hatch until July or August of the next. Reproduction is a strain on the female, nearly half dying after their first clutch, but chameleons in general are considered short-lived creatures with lives of just a few years. Although people understandably find chameleons fascinating creatures, these lizards are also much harder to maintain in captivity than most others.While some lizard species are active all year round in the chameleon's range, the chameleon itself has a period of winter inactivity from December to March, during which it normally buries itself or hides beneath rocks.The chameleon in Iberia has, unfortunately, many factors conspiring against its future survival. Partly, the very slow gait of this lizard makes it easy prey for domestic cats, road traffic and bush fires. Habitat loss due to housing projects, golf courses and road building has fragmented populations especially along the coastal areas of the south. There are also natural predators such as the Montpellier snake and the Montagu's harrier.

A Taste Of Cornwall On The Costa
Kevin Hanley, after years of selling genuine handmade Cornish pasties “upcountry” in the UK and Ireland, has now taken semiretirement, moving to the beautiful coastline of the Costa del Sol. Known as “The Pastyman,” Kevin was the first person to sell Cornish pasties outside the county when he opened his first shop in Oxford in 1996. In true “Kernow” spirit, he took pasties to Dublin, opening four shops.
Now, despite being semi-retired, he can’t resist the urge to bring his favourite food to our shores here in Spain.
He supplies this original product to bars, restaurants and pubs along the coast. This authentic pasty is hand-crimped and handmade in Cornwall, blast frozen then shipped here.
Kevin supports customers with his knowledge and passion for pasties, finding that the Cornish season and the one here on the coast are very similar. He assists his customers in marketing this exciting addition to their menu: and helps to promote themed “pasty nights” (including Jethro-style pub quizzes!) Alternatively, how about baking them from an oven near the door: where aromas can catch “beach bound” holidaymakers – who can’t resist a pasty for lunch?

Occasionally you get those moments when an ambition is realised…… well that happened to me this month when we managed to get an interview with Kenny Rogers. Yes that Kenny Rogers of The Gambler, Ruby, Lucille Oh yes and of course Islands in the Stream fame plus many other classic songs. Kenny is still very much involved in music and has just released a new album, The Love of God which is an inspirational collection of classic songs that he remembers from his childhood, along with new recordings of contemporary songs. The album, although a collection of inspirational songs, is not a religious album in fact, as Kenny said to me in our chat, he does not regard himself as being particularly religious and the album will most definitely appeal to his many country fans as well as more main stream listeners.
As we chatted it was very easy to become as relaxed as Kenny , he really is that laid back yet still full of enthusiasm for life, his music and the future with a world tour and a few special festival events planned for later this year. I did ask Kenny about retirement…. his reply “as long as there is an audience he will be on stage to perform”. Yes a real pleasure that one and if you are a country fan get yourself a copy of that album one of the best tracks for me - Will the Circle be Unbroken - track that had been recorded before but given a slightly new twist.
On to other stuff and a couple new artists to keep an ear open for Franco and the Dreadnought ( which is a Guitar - not a band) who is a rather special singer/songwriter from the UK who has a amazing habit of packing the Dreadnought and going off on tour at the drop of a hat. He struck me, in the interview, as being a bit of a 21st century wandering minstrel - great music and a great bloke to chat with.
Another new name, to me anyway, is the Fuse with lead singer Alex Lato. The band was so highly thought of that a couple of years ago they were flown out to the USA to sign a recording contract only for the record company to have its funding frozen by its parent company.
