Once the federal agents were able to recover their ability to speak, they called in the Yuma County Sheriff's Office, and deputies searched Slaughter's home. SHE'S BIG IN THE PICTURE BUSINESS: Tonya Ann Fowler called police in Winder, Ga., to complain: "Bad & Busted" -- a newspaper that publishes mug shots of local
arrestees --- featured her on the front page, and she was "unhappy" with the photo. It is the second time that day she had called 911; the first time was to ask where she could store her valuables, as she was being evicted from her room. Fowler was arrested a second time -- for illegal use of 911 -- and her resulting mug shot was published again. A few days later, officers were called to a medical center to help with an unruly patient. The staff said the patient -- Fowler -- had threatened to stab a doctor with a knitting needle, then fled wearing only a b a t h r o b e . Officers caught up with Fowler at a nearby restaurant and arrested her again, and the Barrow County Jail presumably released her third mug shot to the paper. SKY HIGH: Firefighters responded to an explosion at a house in Mosgiel, New Zealand. The explosion was so forceful that it shot a candle from the home into a car across the street - smashing it through its window. The cause: two teens were "huffing" propane gas from two 20-lb. pressurized cylinders, investigators say. The two were using so much propane that the concentration of gas built up, and was ignited by a gas heater, causing the explosion. In addition to creating a huge fireball, the explosion knocked over the gas heater, "pumping out a huge fire in that room," a fire department commander said. "Their clothing were so impregnated with LPG that when the explosion happened it blew the soles of their shoes off, their clothing burst into flames, and skin and tissue was spread on all four walls and the ceiling in that room." Brendon McLeod, 17, and Jamie Jury, 18, were hospitalized in critical condition with burns on up to 60 percent of their bodies -but both are expected to survive. Want something for a light lunch, and are fed up of meat and BBQ’s, I think you might be tempted to try these ! You can use chestnut mushrooms, or the large flat variety (portobella) , or just the normal button type. Just remember that they can shrink during cooking, so allow extra.
Feta, pistachio and herb mushrooms Serves 2, for main course
4 large flat mushrooms, or 8 medium sized Olive oil
FOR THE FILLING 3 sprigs of fresh thyme 4 tbsp of chopped flatleaf parsley 100g roasted (shelled) chopped pistachio nuts 85g pitted black olives, chopped Finely grated zest and juice of half lemon 100g fresh white breadcrumbs 140g feta cheese , cut into small cubes Serve with mixed green salad and crusty bread. METHOD Pre heat oven to 180 deg , or gas mark 6
Remove stalks from the mushrooms, brush with olive oil and place on a baking tray, season with salt and black pepper, cook for 5 minutes
Chop the mushroom stalks, and fry lightly in a little olive oil Roast the chopped pistachio nuts in the oven for a few minutes until lightly toasted
Mix together the nuts, chopped olives, mushroom stalks, breadcrumbs, parsley, lemon zest and juice, season with a little salt and pepper Remove mushrooms from oven Spoon the filling into the mushrooms, top with the feta cubes, bake for a further 5 to 8 minutes until the feta begins to soften. Serve immediately.

A TRIBUTE TO BUDDY HOLLY Over 120 people enjoyed a special tribute to Buddy Holly at the Miralmonte Restaurant and Bar in Coin on Wednesday the 22nd of August. The Social Committee of the Coin Branch of the Royal British Legion organised the event in support of the Poppy Appeal. The entertainment was provided by Buddy Walker who is a life-long fan of Buddy Holly in particular and 1950’s music in general. He started the evening with a skilfully arranged medley of songs while the fabulous Miralmonte staff served a very tasty BBQ meal. After the meal the Coin Branch Rafflettes conducted a raffle also in support of the poppy appeal. They sold hundreds of tickets to a very supportive crowd and lots of lucky people went home with some excellent prizes including a round of golf for two at Calanova Golf Club. The highlight of the evening was the Buddy Holly Programme and Buddy Walker was superb. The dance floor was packed after the first song and at the end he was encouraged to do encore after encore. It was close to midnight when he was eventually allowed to leave the stage. The event raised a staggering 603 Euros for the Poppy Appeal. The Chairman Jo Taylor was over the moon and she thanked the Miralmonte Staff and the people of Coin for supporting what turned out to be an amazing outdoor concert.
COIN RBL VISITS THE MALAGA FERIA Thirty six of the more adventurous members of the Coin Branch of the Royal British Legion chartered a coach and enjoyed an outstanding day out at the Malaga Feria last Friday. The sun shone strongly from a bright blue sky and the street temperature was also thirty six by early afternoon. Fortunately, the major brewers and wine makers had conspired to put refreshment stalls in several strategic locations and ice-cold glasses of San Miguel were available for a very reasonable eighty cents.
Although the local population was joined by thousands of visitors from all over Spain the Malagueños made their visitors from Coin most welcome wherever they went. The Feria costumes were spectacular and Legion members Maureen Gregson and Maria Paz Edwards can be seen here in Calle Marques de Larios relishing a moment with the handsome men and beautiful women representing Cartojal. On the coach home the Branch Chairman Jo Taylor declared the day out a memorable experience and thought the Malaga Feria was almost as good as Coin’s.

UPDATE ABOUT BANK GUARANTEES ISSUED DURING THE HOUSING CONSTRUCTION BOOM.
By Reyes Gomez Llorente - Lawyer with De Cotta Law It may come as a surprise to know that the law regulating advance payments to builders and constructors when buying off plan and properties under construction came into force in Spain as long ago as 1968 - Law 57/68 of 27th July. This law obliges the builder and constructor to offer bank guarantees or insurance as warranties for buyers who pay deposits on account towards the final price of a home.
Dedicated account This was achieved in practice by banks (or insurance companies) giving an overall guarantee for the construction of an entire housing development. With this approach, an agreement was signed between the bank and the developer that obliged the developer to deposit any monies paid by buyers into a special dedicated account. On each payment made by the buyer the developer is obliged to issue individual certificates for each deposit guaranteeing these specific amounts including interest.
Certificates not issued Yet despite this system being in place, there are numerous cases where buyers did not receive individual certificates that support the amounts paid by them; either because the developer kept them; or they were never delivered, or because the bank never issued them. These certificates are essential for buyers who wish to make a claim against a developer that has become insolvent or failed to construct the promised property. When the buyer has the individual certificate that guarantees the deposits made, the claim should normally not be problematic. However, it is a very different case when the buyer has no individual certificate of guarantee. Banks consistently refuse to fulfil their assumed responsibility if the buyer does not have the individual certificate of guarantee. In addition, even if the buyer has the certificate, they are of little value if the developer has not fulfilled its obligation to pay the buyer’s money into the special dedicated account. (cont...d )
Helplessness This issue has therefore left many buyers in a situation of helplessness as the developer is in solvent and the bank is refusing to pay out.
Fortunately, in a number of recent decisions our courts in Spain are realising that the issue of the developer not lodging the money in the dedicated account with the bank cannot be binding on the purchaser. This means more protection for purchasers in these situations. The constitution of the guarantee is a private contract between the bank and the developer, therefore the buyer is a third party to the contractual relationship. The buyer, who is the beneficiary of the guarantee, should not suffer the consequences the developer failing to comply with its obligations. Bank obligation The Court now considers that although the promoter is responsible for entering the amounts received into the special dedicated account, the
bank also has a duty and responsibility to see that the developer meets this obligation. If they have not, then there is also some responsibility for the bank for negligence and for not requiring the developer to comply. Although there have been many judgements in the past that have ruled against the buyer, it is certainly good news that now in cases where the buyer has an individual certificate of endorsement, it is possible to claim against the bank; although perhaps this is not the best time to claim against the Spanish banks it does open up a new door to many disgruntled and frankly justifiably frustrated purchasers. This applies largely where the development has not been completed and although chasing Spanish banks for money now may seem Quixotic it is worth seeking legal advice on your situation. (AP) - Authorities say one man is dead and two others hospitalized after they crashed a van into a North Augusta gun store to steal weapons and were shot by the owner, who lived behind the business. The Aiken County Coroner's Office says 20year-old K'Raven Goodwin of Eastover was killed and the two men with him remained in the hospital after the shooting. Deputies say the owner was checking on an alarm at his store when he confronted and shot the men. Investigators would not say if the men were armed or fired back. Authorities say the two shooting survivors ran to a nearby Waffle House to call for help, while the third man was found in the store. No charges have been filed as an investigation continues. A MAN who suffered serious burns when friends lit a firecracker in his bum says he was just showing his visiting mates a Territory good time. Alex Bowden, 23, of Wagaman, Darwin, put a spinning "flying bee" winged firework in his butt crack during a party at a rented house on Rossiter St, Rapid Creek on Saturday night. His mate Todd Lovell lit the fuse. "I had a few lads up from Queensland and I had to put on a good show," he told the NT News from his hospital bed. "I just had a few beers with the boys and let off a few firecrackers. Mr Bowden was wearing trousers at the time and took it standing up. "It didn't burn my balls or my back," the fitter and turner said. "Just my fingers and my arse. "It was a pretty loose one, hey." The cracker burned his bum cheeks, and his index, middle, and ring fingers on his right hand - which he used to pull the cracker from his bum. Mr Bowden was not bleeding after it and he could walk afterwards. His mate Reece McEwen said: "He screamed a little bit and there were a fair few f-words". His sober mate then drove him to the Royal Darwin Hospital burns unit. where he expected to remain for a few days.
"It's not as bad as everyone is saying," he said. The police confiscated the fireworks when they arrived at the house.But the party could expect a $282 fine from NT Police for setting off fireworks outside of Territory Day.

Millipedes are arthropods that have two pairs of legs per segment (except for the first segment behind the head which does not have any appendages at all, and the next few which only have one pair of legs). Each segment that has two pairs of legs is a result of two single segments fused together as one. Most millipedes have very elongated cylindrical bodies, although some are flattened dorso- ventrally, while pill millipedes are shorter and can roll into a ball, like a woodlouse. The name "millipede" is a compound word formed from the Latin roots mille ("thousand") and pes ("foot"). Despite their name, no known millipede has 1,000 legs, Common species have between 36 and 400 legs. There are around 10,000 species The giant African millipede is the largest species of millipede. Millipedes are detritivores and slow moving. Most millipedes eat decaying leaves and other dead plant matter, moisturising the food with secretions and then scraping it in with their jaws.A few species are omnivorous or carnivorous, and may prey on small arthropods, such as insects and centipedes, or on earthworms.They can also be minor garden pests, especially in greenhouses where they can cause severe damage to emergent seedlings. Signs of millipede damage include the stripping of the outer layers of a young plant stem and irregular damage to leaves. Millipedes can be easily distinguished from the somewhat similar and related centipedes, which move rapidly, and have a single pair of legs for each body segment. Millipedes range from 2 to 280 millimetres (0.079 to 11 in) in length, and can have as few as eleven, to over a hundred segments. They are generally black or brown in colour, although there are a few brightly coloured species. The millipede's most obvious feature is its large number of legs. Having very many short legs makes millipedes rather slow, but they are powerful burrowers. With their legs and body length moving in a wavelike pattern, they easily force their way underground head first. The head of a millipede is typically rounded above and flattened below and bears large mandibles. The body is flattened or cylindrical, with a singlechitinous plate above, one at each side, and twoor three on the underside. In many millipedes, these are fused to varying degrees, sometimes forming a single cylindrical ring. The plates are
typically hard, being impregnated with calcium salts. Millipedes are susceptible to water loss, and must spend most of their time in moist or humid environments. The head contains a pair of sensory organs known as the Tömösváry organs. These are found just posterior and lateral to the antennae, and are shaped as small and oval rings at the base of the antennae. Millipede eyes consist of a number of simple flat lensed ocelli arranged in a group on the front/side of the head. Many species of millipedes, including cave-dwelling millipedes such as Causeyella, have lost their eyes. According to Guinness World Records the African giant black millipede can grow to 38.6 cm (15.2 in). Reproduction Male millipedes can be differentiated from female millipedes by the presence of one or two pairs of legs modified into gonopods. These modified legs, which are usually on the seventh segment, are used to transfer sperm packets to the female during mating. Females lay between ten and three hundred eggs at a time, depending on species, fertilising them with the stored sperm as they do so. Many species simply deposit the eggs on moist soil or organic detritus, but some construct nests lined with dried faeces. The young hatch after a few weeks, and typically have only three pairs of legs, followed by up to four legless segments. As they grow, they continually moult, adding further segments and legs as they do so. Some species moult within specially prepared chambers, which they may also use to wait out dry weather. Millipedes live from one to ten years, depending on species.
Defense mechanisms Due to their lack of speed and their inability to bite or sting, millipedes' primary defence mechanism is to curl into a tight coil — protecting their delicate legs inside an armoured body exterior. Many species also emit poisonous liquid secretions along the sides of their bodies as a secondary defence. Some of these substances are caustic and can burn the exoskeleton of ants and other insect predators, and the skin and eyes of larger predators. Capuchin monkeys have been observed intentionally irritating millipedes in order to rub the chemicals on themselves to repel mosquitoes. As far as humans are concerned, this chemical brew is fairly harmless, usually causing only minor effects on the skin. Eye exposures to these secretions causes general eye irritation and potentially more severe effects such as conjunctivitis and keratitis. First aid consists of flushing the area thoroughly with water; further treatment is aimed at relieving the local effects.

Back in the days when I was DJ’ing in clubs around Birmingham, the big thing was to be on the top record company mailing lists and get all the new releases before any of the other Jocks did. Of course in those heady days a new track involving legendary writer and producer Nile Rogers was a piece of vinyl to be rushed onto the decks immediately. The days of Disco - of the 12" single - of outrageous fashion - of CHIC, Sister Sledge, Odyssey and Kool and the Gang. What a time to be a DJ......... There are times when going to a concert can bring back so much and that's what happened for me at “Disco under the Stars” when The CHIC tour hit the stage. We were allowed amazing access to all the artists and cannot thank the organizers enough for that. First on stage the lovely Jaki Graham who performed some true classics and when I caught up with her in the dressing room she told me she has a brand new album due for release so watch this space for more info on that. Odyssey were next up and Ann, Anise and Steve truly got the audience up and moving with "Going Back To My Roots", the fabulous "Native New Yorker" and "Use it up and Wear it Out" being the obvious stormer. Steve and Ann told me that the whole tour had flown in from Ireland that morning just for the show and at 7am had a flight to Cork for a festival the following evening. I have been promised a copy of their new single and album sometime over the next few weeks which prompted me to ask about the longevity of” Disco” music and, as Ann said, “call it what you will but as long as people get up to dance there will be "Dance Music"” - I can relate to that Finally the full CHIC band and Nile Rogers blew everybody away. Nile explained after the first number “every song they performed from Bowie’s” Lets Dance” and Duran Duran’s “Notorious” to “Le Freak” and “Good Times” were all songs he wrote”. The band have got to be one of the tightest touring bands I have ever seen and, despite rumored health problems, Nile Rogers did not stop giving us hit after hit. The time ran out before the music did so the whole band came down of stage and played an acoustic follow the leader through the audience whilst Nile signed autographs and the
spoke to as many people as possible I got chance to talk with him in the chill-out room and the man doesn’t stop. He explained he is currently working on a project with Bruno Mars after just completing work with Lady Gaga. A very easy going man with a good sense of humor - I could have stayed and chatted to all night.
