The wine opens with a very pretty core of ripe red cherry and cranberry, along with notes of licorice, crushed rose petals, and hot tar. The palate is nicely composed of ripe primary fruit and moderate-plus weight with a very fine structural presence. It has a dry, harmonious, velvety, full-bodied, austere and generous taste with an ethereal, persistent, intense “goudron” perfume.
This young fresh wine principally produced from Grecanico grapes gains personality and style with the addition of some international variety of grapes. All grapes are knowledgeably cultivated in the vineyards owned by Planeta. La Segreta is a versatile companion for everyday drinking and appropriate for many different occasions.
