INTERPORT TOUR TO MALAYSIA: 8 - 11 SEPTEMBER 2022 Some of the players did an optional extra round at the Tropicana Golf & Country Resort on Thursday, while others just relaxed at the Grand Dorsett Hotel. Dinner took place at Brazilian restaurant Carnaval, owned by Golf Section Member David Gabriel. On Friday, the full group headed to the Rahman Putra Golf Club for a friendly match with the Royal Selangor Club (RSC), playing 18 holes at the Lakes course – aptly named given the prevalence of water hazards. RSC won with 379 points to SCC’s 345. RSC hosted drinks and dinner and gifted each player with golf balls, as is their custom given how many people might lose theirs in the water on the course. rendering the group unable to play the planned last 18-hole game, which had been set for the Palm Resort Golf & Country Club’s Cempaka course. So the bus headed back to Singapore earlier than expected (with the lines at immigration not too long) and in time for Sunday dinner. Saturday morning, the players headed off to Kluang Country Club (KCC), a somewhat hilly, walking nine-hole course (with caddies, fortunately). Dato Seri Robert Chew of KCC – who, incidentally, was in the overall Best Pair of the day with KCC Golf Captain Desmond Lim – generously hosted the SCC crew both at dinner that evening and at breakfast the next morning.
