As we say goodbye to the hot summer months I would like to thank everyone for making it another successful Summer season at Carrollwood Country Club. Things were quieter, and the rains and steamy temperatures were with us every day. But once again when we conducted an event at the club your involvement made each event a success. Our Independence Day Celebration which we held on Saturday July 1, 2017 was our most successful event to date. We saw our largest crowd ever as over 4,500 members and guests attended the event and enjoyed a full day of activities ending the day with another great fireworks display. Following the event, I received many complimentary phone calls, emails, and comments from our membership and surrounding homeowners within the Carrollwood development on how they enjoyed attending and watching the fireworks presentation. As always, we look forward to next years’ 2018 Independence Day Celebration. As many of you are aware during the summer months we conduct our golf course preventative maintenance programs and take advantage of the slower activity by updating our facility. This summer we purchased and installed a new air conditioner in the Turn Grill and replaced the A.C. coils in both the walk - in freezer and walk - in refrigerator located in the main clubhouse kitchen. Jim Kelly purchased and installed multiple new umbrellas around the pool deck and we added new umbrellas within the splash pad area for parents to set under while watching their little ones enjoy the water. In addition to this Chuck Cakmakci, our Golf Course Superintendent, has received delivery of new pieces of equipment to allow him to continue to maintain a well - conditioned golf course. During the summer, our Membership department remained very active. Over the months of May, June, and July Renee Constantine, our Membership Director, signed up 24 new golf memberships, 2 new Tennis memberships and 19 new social memberships resulting in a very successful summer season! We are excited to be moving out of the summer and are now looking forward to our upcoming events. Please watch for and plan to join us for our Labor Day pool party, the 2017 Men’s Member - Member golf event scheduled in October, the Womens Golf Association Opening Day event scheduled in September and our Boo Buffet also scheduled in October. For our members that have remained active throughout the summer months we appreciate your dedication and support. To our members that leave the Tampa area for the summer, we have missed you and welcome back. Carrollwood Country Club continues to be a great place to be a part of. I look forward to seeing all of you at the country club.

Around the Clubhouse Well we all made it through another hot summer here at the club. What a great summer it was. I would like to thank all that have steadily supported us here in food and beverage with another successful season. Our Hot Nights In Havana traditions dinner dance was very successful. The dancefloor was never empty, and neither were your bellies. The Murder Mystery Dinner in August was a “killer” time just like last year. We can’t thank the Murder Mystery Company enough for doing a great job for us as always. It all leads us teetering into fall. With the Fall season comes change. The leaves begin to turn. The temperatures become bearable, even enjoyable. The days become shorter, and nights longer. Along with the changing of the seasons, comes a few changes here within food and beverage. Chef Jorge has designed a better everyday menu for you all to enjoy. That will be released this month. We will be introducing new daily specials and new fun filled monthly member events. I am very excited for all the new changes being put into place and I hope that all of you take full advantage of all we will have to offer for you in the coming season. I am seeing many new members here at Carrollwood and would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of you. I would love to meet all of you, so if you see me and I have not already introduced myself, please come say hi. We’re all very excited to see some new faces. Our daily specials are always a big hit with everyone at the club. Some will remain the same, such as our Tuesday’s BOGO Sandwiches. Buy any sandwich at regular price and get a free sandwich of equal or lesser value free. This is a great deal for you and a client or business associate to enjoy during lunch from 11am-3pm. Our new special for Wednesdays will still be Wine Down Wednesday. We will be offering our Wine Down Wednesday 2 for $22, or for one person $12.95 and $5.95 for kids 12 and younger. The new pricing still includes your Chef attended pasta station, garden or Caesar salad, garlic bread and complimentary glass of house wine. Thursdays are still our Prime Rib Night. Offering our Queen Cut at $11.95 and King Cut at $14.95. This includes our perfectly seasoned prime rib, loaded baked potato, mixed veggies and a garden or Caesar salad. Come dance the night away under cooler temperatures with live music on Friday nights from 6-830pm. Frank and Gene here on alternating Fridays with a few others peppered into the lineup for the next few months to add some new flavor to the mix. On Fridays, you can also enjoy our Happy Hour from 5-7pm with half priced wells, drafts, and house wines. New to Saturday nights is our Spiced-Up Saturdays that will continue beyond summer due to growing popularity. Spiced Up Saturdays consists of an all you can eat taco buffet for only $9.95, $3 Coronas, $5 Margaritas and bottomless chips and

Food & Beverage news homemade salsa for just $4.95. So, taco lovers, loosen those belts and celebrate Cinco De Mayo every Saturday here at the club. With football season beginning we will be having our Sunday Brunch starting at 9am and Sunday Funday continuing. Come in and watch the Bucs play. With our 16 different TVs and Direct TV NFL football package we can put on any game you want to see. So, no matter if you’re a Bucs fan or a Browns fan we’ve got the game you want. With $.50 wings and deeply discounted pitchers of beer flowing, you won’t need to go anywhere else to root for your favorite team. The 2nd Thursday of every month will be hosting Bingo night. Our personable and bubbly emcee will be calling your numbers. We will be offering heavy hors d’oeuvres and happy hour pricing all night and 4 lucky winners will receive member credit or food and beverage gift certificates. All of this for only $15!! On September 15th, we will be having our first and hopefully annual Hilariously Magical Member Event. Geoff Williams will be coming to entertain you with his Mercurial wit and mystifying sleight of hand magic show. Geoff is a Rockstar of Magicians. There is no doubt that he will have you rolling on the floor laughing while simultaneously scratching your heads trying to figure how he did that. This is a show you will not want to miss. You will need to get your reservations in early as this show will for sure sell out!! Our Bacchus Wine Dinners have been growing exponentially over the past year and I am truly thankful to our members that always support us in our growth. Chef Jorge has been impressing all who attend with his culinary pallet. A truly talented Chef that has a passion for his art which radiates through the flavors we all enjoy. Always paired perfectly with different varietal wines by master sommeliers. We have developed a devout following of members that continue to show their support, but challenge those with a love of food and wine to join us and let us make you fanatics. Our next wine dinners will be on September 27th, and October 25th. We will have our 5 courses paired with 5 wines for only $55. Coming up October 27th is our always popular Boo Buffet. We will have entertainment and activities for the kids, one of Tampa’s best DJs playing all your favorite dance music, great food and tons of fun for all ages. Make your reservations early as last year sold out and then some. So, get your scary, funny, silly costumes ready because you know this year will be so fun its scary. I am very excited for this fall season. I hope all of you are as well. If you have any concerns, questions or comments, or if you just want to come say hi, I’m always here to serve you. Thank you all so much for your support through these changing times and I look forward to making you all huge fans of the Food and Beverage Department at your club.

Golf Quote for Today:

“The most important shot in golf is the NEXT ONE"!

- Ben Hogan

From the Golf Course Superintendent The maintenance staff is in the process of finishing up our last aerification of the summer to the greens and weather permitting should finish our last aerification to Meadow greens on September 5th. The greens have responded well to our aerification program. Our aerification schedule is based on the recommendations for aerification which come directly from the breeders of Champion Turf. Our greens are one of the most important assets here at the country club if we fail to take proper care of them we are allowing a important asset to lose value. If we did not perform the proper maintenance practices for this grass we would not notice the effects immediately but long term damage would be done. This is similar to not changing the oil in your car at the proper time; the car does not drive any different yet the lifespan of your car would be diminished.

We will be getting some new equipment in the upcoming months we have ordered a new Fairway mower and two new triplex mowers and are hoping to take delivery sometime in mid September needless to say the maintenance department is very excited and would like to thank Allen Self in making this happen. As we all know the golf course at times can become very wet over the summer and there are times when we must restrict you to keeping your carts on the paths. This is a necessary measure to help ensure good playing conditions. Thank you for understanding and cooperation in this matter. If you would like to discuss any of the agronomic practices that we perform or have any questions about the golf course my office door is always open. See you on the course.

League Tennis News & Other Happenings BY NOLA SMITH, TENNIS REPRESENTATIVE

All of our Leagues are on Summer break until the end of August, so this page will be dedicated to some pictures that were taken at our overall Suncoast League Luncheon, in May, which Carrollwood hosted. We had over 200 ladies attend and see our beautiful venue and exactly what CCC can offer. League “happenings” will be back in our next Newsletter. Nola
