GENERAL MANAGER
News
From the General Manager’s Desk Dear Woodmore Members, I hope that everyone is enjoying their summer, thus far. I am very excited to write to you all as our club’s General Manager. It has been an absolute pleasure reuniting with Concert Golf Partners and getting reacquainted with our membership. I sincerely appreciate all of the support that I have received since my return to our fine club. Many of you may remember me as serving as the Director of Catering when Concert Golf acquired CCW in 2012. I also had the distinct privilege of serving as Membership Director. I would like to take this opportunity, and use this newsletter, as a forum to answer my most frequently asked question: “What changes are you going to make at Woodmore?” My answer is simple. I wouldn’t change a thing. Woodmore is a fantastic club!! We boast a Maryland top 10 golf course and a fantastic clubhouse that houses an incredible membership. What I will do is make enhancements. I will continuously strive to create partnerships, build relationships, and provide added value to your membership at Woodmore. I believe we are building a very strong foundation and team that shares this same vision. If you strive for excellence, at the very least, you will exceed the expectation. If you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting some of our newest team members, please come visit and make their acquaintance. Most of you know, Brandon Meadows has returned to Woodmore as our Director of Golf and has made a notable difference in such a short time. His attention to detail and can-do approach are qualities that enhance our golf operation immensely. Terry King joins us as Director of Events and Catering. Her personality exudes happiness and friendly service. Terry has a knack for making your visions become reality. Our most recent addition to the team is Eduardo Caballero. Eduardo joins us as Director of Food and Beverage and has a solid background of restaurant and hospitality management. I had the pleasure of working with Eduardo at Trump National Golf Club, and we are excited to see the enhancements he will bring to our dining services. I would also like to inform you of some partnerships that have been formed to add additional value to your membership experience. I have the great pleasure to announce that Concert Golf Partners has joined Pacific Links International’s worldwide network of celebrated golf experiences. This membership benefit gives you exclusive playing privileges at both Domestic and

International championship courses around the world. The roster of 150+ clubs and more information can be found at www.pacificlinks.com. For our CCW Tennis enthusiasts, we have now have a strong tennis program through KeyCourt Press & The Agile Group. Our members now have access to various levels of skilled Tennis Professionals and various clinics. For the beginner, the more advanced, our CCW Kids, and even those who simply have an interest in Tennis, we now have a program for you all. While on the courts, course, or at our pool, we now offer Auto detailing services provided by Samuda Detailing. Simply drop off your keys and enjoy your day. Samuda offers a variety of packages, based on your allotted time and their services can be billed directly to your member account. Speaking of our pool, I have received wonderful comments and rave reviews about our additional new pool furniture and new management Premier Pools. I am also pleased to announce that we have recently added another outstanding property to our Concert Golf portfolio. Crestview Country Club is located in Wichita, Kansas. Founded in 1921, Crestview CC is the only 36 hole club in the state of Kansas. The challenging North Course has now hosted the PGA Tour’s Web.com event for 16 consecutive years and the more relaxed South Course are both designed by Robert Trent Jones. Crestview CC also boasts 10 indoor and outdoor tennis courts, and Olympic sized swimming pool and a beautiful 29,000 sq ft. clubhouse. Make sure you add Crestview, and all of our Concert Golf properties, on your “Places to Play” list. Finally, as Summer comes to a close, children return to school, and we look forward to cooler fall temperatures, please take time reacquaint yourselves with our Club’s Calendar. We have added some fantastic fall events and now, as an added convenience, accept online reservations. Thank you, once again, for all of your support. Woodmore’s success relies on our members and our membership relies on Woodmore, to create an experience. Together I look forward to creating that positive experience and growing our wonderful, long lasting relationship. See you at the club! Mary

From the Catering and Events Department Hello Woodmore, I am truly excited to be part of the Woodmore family! Just a little bit about myself...I relocated from Atlanta, Georgia, in which I resided for 9 year but, I am a true Brooklynite (GO KNICKS!!!), as I was born and raised there. I decided to come back up north to become a part of a wonderful team of talented players. I have a lovely teenage daughter that graduated from High School and is ready to begin her future in Maryland. We are grateful to be here and look forward to making many memories at the Country Club at Woodmore! As we cool down from Maryland’s hot pace of heat, humidity, and heavy rains (all in that order), we are looking forward to the cooler temperatures of fall. In our last quarter, we have the best holidays ahead, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and the start of the New Year. With that being said, we have many great options for all your social needs. Whether it’s a back-toschool pool party, birthday event, Wedding Reception, or just having drinks with friends, Woodmore has many options that will suit your social needs. Our popular Woodmore Room is a great meeting space for small parties of 50 or less. Don’t forget about our pool that can hold up to 150 people. The secret is that we can host private parties from 7pm to 11pm, which will give your poolside event exclusivity. Another gem is our overflow space which can hold up to 50 people. And let us not forget our Weddings and Receptions. Having your ceremony at the Gazebo or the Patio will give guests a SPECTACULAR view of our grounds. We can accommodate any size to meet your needs. Let us relieve you of the worry and take care of all your planning needs. You bring the vision, and our job is to make it come to life! Reserve today for October, November and December, as spaces are going quickly.

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE Thursday, September 22nd - Senior Member-Guest Thursday – Saturday, October 6th – 8th Men’s Invitational Sunday, October 23rd - Closing Day Saturday, November 19th - Turkey Shootout
2016 JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS Junior Member-Guest August 27th (3:00 pm tee times) - No Cost An 18-hole and nine-hole, 2-person better ball event divided into two separate flights. This event will provide gross and net divisions with special events for the entire field. This will be the premier junior event that allows Woodmore’s junior golfers to show off this wonderful facility with up to three guests.
It has been a great pleasure stepping into this position at a place that I feel is very, very special. From the time I took a position as First Assistant Golf Professional, I knew this place was something great. When I looked out the back windows of the clubhouse, I could see that this place is truly beautiful and my vision is to make every part of this operation as beautiful and special as the views. So, I thank each and every one of you who has provided such a great warm welcome when stepping into the Director of Golf position. While in midst of this season, we only have a few more member events that we can contribute to and put into preparation. With that being said, I would like to say that we recently had a wonderful Super Senior, Senior, and Women’s Club Championships as well as a very competitive Gentlemen’s Club Championship. This event was designed to truly find the best player that this Club has to offer. It consisted of a 18-hole shotgun qualifier on Friday. From the qualifier, the top eight players were selected and seeded for a 36-hole match play event that was scheduled for Saturday. This event determined the final two players that competed in a 36-hole stroke play event on Sunday. At this point, we were able to determine our 2016 Gentlemen’s Club Champion! In addition, we will have our 3-Day Men’s Invitational (Member-Guest scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, October 6th – 8th.

Thursday will be a Practice Round Shotgun, four-ball event with optional cash skins. In addition, we will have a scheduled cocktail hour and closest-to-the-pin contest from the clubhouse patio. As we move into Friday and Saturday, we will start our true competition and finish with a playoff between flight winners to find our 2016 Champions. Lastly, we will be hosting our Closing Day Tournamnet to consist of a fun format on Sunday, October 23, 2016. From that point forward, we will be hosting our Turkey Shoot, to consist of more things found in a Superintendent’s Revenge Event. I believe this will be another fun addition to the events we have put into place since my time back. As you can imagine, we will be working hard through this time to make these very special events for each and every one of you! Thank you to all of you whom have been very supportive and we thank you all for your patience through the transitions in staff that have taken place over this year. I know there have been some issues with special orders, and please, if there have been things that you have ordered and have not received, please let me know as soon as possible so I can get on top of this! If there is ever anything we can do for you, please do not hesitate to let us know. We are always happy to help in any way we can! Brandon Meadows
GREEN News
Greetings from the Grounds Department! We in grounds are in the time of year right now where we are busy preparing the golf course for play on daily basis. There are no major disruptive practices taking place over the next several months (we are going to perform greens aerification in late October this year) so I would like you to simply come out and enjoy the golf course. With that being said, I would like to include my quarterly reminder on golf course etiquette. I believe everyone is doing their best out there but I often get questions on my personal philosophies and how I would like the membership to help out. I ask that you please repair your ballmarks and divots as you enjoy your round. A properly repaired ballmark or divot will heal significantly faster than an unrepaired one and, more importantly, will provide your fellow members will better conditions over the course of the season. There is no preferred method to performing either of these practices. A tee can be just as effective of a repair tool as the actual ballmark repair tool. In the fairway, a divot can be replaced or sand can be used if necessary. What I would like to see us focus on as a club is playability. If there is any doubt on the proper procedure, just remember to leave the playing surface in a condition that you would feel comfortable playing from yourself. When you play out of a bunker, please rake out not only your pitch mark, but your footprints as well. When entering the bunker, it is advisable to enter the on the low or flat side. This will help us maintain the integrity of our faces. I prefer that rakes are left with the head in bunker and the handle resting in the turf. This provides golfers with ease of access and keeps the majority of the rake elevated, which reduces the potential that it interferes with approaching golf balls. As with ballmarks and divots, the most important thing to remember when raking a bunker is that you leave it in a condition that you would feel comfortable playing from.
Please follow traffic control markings and scatter your carts as much as possible. Excessive golf cart traffic through a single area tears turf and compacts the soil causing weakened and thin areas. I would also encourage you to enter and exit golf holes through mulch beds where there is no turf to injure. Finally, please do not drive golf carts through naturalized areas on the golf course. I thank everyone for their help in maintaining the golf course and practicing good golf course etiquette. I am confident that if we work together, we can improve our day-to-day golf course conditions.
Fairways and Greens, Brandon Collins, Golf Course Superintendent
