GENERAL MANAGER News
From the General Manager’s Desk As many of you are aware I will be leaving The Country Club at Woodmore around the middle of January. I have been asked by Concert Golf Partners to relocate to Carrollwood Country Club, one of our sister clubs located in Tampa Florida. I am leaving with mixed emotions. As you may remember I came to The Country Club at Woodmore November 1, 2013 from Orlando Florida. I am pleased to be returning to the sunshine state of Florida but I have really enjoyed the area and especially the members and staff of the country club. We have accomplished a lot this past year and I am proud to say the club is in a very sound position. Our membership continues to grow at quite a brisk pace, the golf course remains in top condition and we continue to be rated among the top 10 golf courses within the state of Maryland. The Golf operation continues to offer a level of service that can be compared to any of the other club in the state. I feel very confident that the management team we have created at Woodmore will continue to serve the membership at the highest level that you deserve. With that said, I would like to introduce to you your new General Manager who will start on January 10, 2015. Please welcome Jon Vodehnal in the weeks following my departure. Please keep in mind that if you are a member at any one of the country clubs owned by Concert Golf Partners you receive member benefits at all of the country clubs owned by Concert Golf Partners. With that in mind please don’t hesitate to come see me at Carrollwood Country Club if you have a chance to visit the Tampa Florida area. I will look forward to seeing you in the future. All the Best: Allen Self General Manager

Dear Valued Woodmore Member, Thank you for choosing The Country Club at Woodmore as your recreational home and for being a Member of the Club. Allow me to introduce myself, I am Jon Vodehnal, and I am pleased to serve you as the General Manager of Woodmore. I am originally from the Midwest, having grown up just outside of Omaha, Nebraska. Following high school I migrated to Fayetteville, North Carolina and graduated from Methodist University in their Professional Golf Management program with a business administration degree and set-off on my career in the golf business. I bring over 20 years of experience in the Private Club industry, most recently as Director of Club Development for Arnold Palmer Golf Management and General Manager of Crofton Country Club. On the personal side, I have been married to a fantastic lady, Deidre, for thirteen years and we have two wonderful children. Our son, Brady, is nine and our daughter, Stella, is seven and both love to golf. I very much look forward to joining the team here at Woodmore in providing the highest level of service and programming to ensure you find value in your membership each and every time you visit the club. We take very seriously The Country Club at Woodmore’s mission to create the very best Club experience, every day, for all of its Members, so please let me know how I or we may be of assistance in any way. I look forward to the opportunity to meet each and every member of the club personally, so please ask for me when you are at the club next. Warm Regards, Jon Vodehnal General Manager

FOOD & BEVERAGE
News
From the Food & Beverage Directors Desk I would like to thank all of you for making 2014 such a wonderful year for the club! As the Assistant Food & Beverage Director over these past six months, I have been welcomed with open arms and well wishes and for that I am grateful. As you all know, the clubhouse is closed until January 24th reopening on January 25th for our end of the month brunch. While the clubhouse is closed, the Food & Beverage Department will be getting ready for another great year. We will be hosting a job fair on January 20th from 10-2pm & 4-6pm. I encourage all members to pass this information along to individuals who are in search of a new and exciting career working in hospitality. Feedback received last year in regards to the level of food service was not taken lightly. With that being said, we will also be implementing a new training program to ensure that your dining experience far surpasses your standards. The club will also be introducing new wines & spirits in the near future, so be on the lookout. I will currently be acting as the Interim Food & Beverage Director until further notice and if there is anything you may need please do not hesitate contact me at lthomas@ccwoodmore.com or (301)292-6100 ext 207.
Warm Regards, LaShelle Thomas

Golf Fitness
As someone who has put on a few pounds this year, I can see myself adding a few more celebrating in the New Year. One thing I have noticed, besides my rising pants and shirt size, is being shorter off the tee, a result in my loss of flexibility. Flexibility may be the single most important factor in making a successful golfer. A compact, powerful swing is defined by the x-factor—or the relationship of shoulder to hip rotation. “The shoulders should turn at a 90-degree angle over the hips, which should turn 45 degrees—that’s the x-factor,” says Katherine Roberts, certified golf performance coach and founder of Yoga for Golfers. Stiff shoulders, tight hips, and stubborn hamstrings do little in helping you achieve this ideal swing. What’s more, lack of flexibility can also limit your distance off the tee. “Power is a byproduct of flexibility”. Flexibility allows for full range of motion, which allows you to reach maximum potential in strength. Practice these 10 exercises 3 to 5 days a week. You’ll improve your flexibility in as little as five sessions and see a difference on the course in 30 days. GREEN
News
Greetings from the Green Department! I hope this finds everyone doing well. It might be the off-season for golfers but this is the time of year when the grounds staff can make significant gains on the golf course. We have recently finished aerifying, aggressively verticutting, and topdressing the fairways. This will help provide some firmness and improved drainage when the golf season gets in to full swing. We have been busy removing and pruning trees that were causing issues with plant health. We have specifically been focusing on trees around #1 tee, #3 green, and #5 green.
the irrigation system on the tennis courts. New sand is being added to bunkers that were getting a little thin. During the extremely cold mornings, we have been busy constructing new houses to hold our water coolers on the golf course. The old ones were starting to look pretty ragged and we are excited about this upgrade going in to the 2015 season! For the most up to date information about the golf course’s status and current projects, please visit us on the web at www.ccwoodmoregcm.com.
We have also been performing several upgrades to the facility. We are expanding the irrigation system for better coverage between holes #16 and #17 as well as upgrading
