GENERAL MANAGER

News

From the General Manager’s Desk • Greetings from the Country Club at Woodmore! Now that we are well into our summer

season, I can see why Maryland is considered such a beautiful area of the country. As we move into the heart of the summer I continue to evaluate the status of the club and I am happy to report we are having a very successful 2014. Our membership is continuing to grow and the activity at the country club has far exceeded our expectations for the summer season. As many of you are aware we are continuing to add amenities and service to our membership in an effort to make your time spent at Woodmore more enjoyable. •

The Soup and Salad bar is available every Saturday and Sunday starting at 11:30 a.m. in the Palmer Grille and the attendance to our Sunday Brunch, offered on the last Sunday of every month continues to grow.

Our Turn Station located just outside on the lower level of the clubhouse is now completed and has turned out great. This area now offers our members an additional area to relax and enjoy a beverage or a quick bite to eat. We are featuring hot off the grill sandwiches on Tuesday’s when the Palmer Grille is closed and every Friday, Saturday and Sunday as an additional option to the clubhouse food service. It has greatly improved our ability to offer additional food and beverage service just before your round, while making the turn, or following your round of golf.

We are well into the pool season and have improved our food service to the pool facility by offering grilled sandwiches from the Turn Station on Tuesdays. With this additional option we are now able to offer both hot and cold food options every day the pool is open.

By expanding on the items offered at the Turn Station we will continue to increase and improve the services offered when visiting the country club. I continue to be excited about the direction we are headed and look forward to seeing you soon. Best Wishes, Allen Self General Manager

FROM THE GOLF SHOP The most common saying in golf is “keep your head down.” The question is, are you actually picking your head up? When you hit a thin shot that dribbles along the ground, it would seem that a player must have picked their head up. My experience is that most player’s don’t pick their head up at all, what they do is pull their arms and hands up toward their body causing the club to hit the ball low on the clubface producing a skull shot. To fix the problem, hit balls focusing on brushing grass ahead of the ball and going to a three quarter, fully extended finish. This will help keep your arms extended producing more consistency and power. Respectfully Submitted, John Kauzlarich, PGA Director of Golf

GREEN

News

Greetings from the Green Department! With an influx of active, new members, and the subsequent increase in rounds of the golf course (a trend that I am happy to see), I would like to briefly discuss golf course etiquette. We are seeing a growing number of unrepaired ball marks and divots on the course over the last few months. While our staff regularly addresses these issues, we would like to ask for the membership’s assistance to make these operations as successful as possible. Please repair your ball marks on greens and if you have time, take the opportunity to repair someone else’s that may have been overlooked. The ball mark is properly repaired when you would feel comfortable putting over it. Please remember to repair your divots in the fairways, either by replacing the divot or filling it with sand. Use whatever method you feel comfortable with—the most important thing to remember when repairing a divot is to leave a level lie for those playing after you. Thank you in advance for your cooperation as we continue to grow the Club. Lastly, we remind you to please mark your calendars for September 9th to the 11th when we will be performing our fall greens aerification.

For the most up to date information about the golf course operation, please visit our blog at www.ccwoodmoregcm.com. Fairways and Greens, Brandon Collins, Golf Course Superintendent
