GENERAL MANAGER

News

From the General Manager’s Desk Greetings Woodmore Members!! As we enter my favorite time of the year, I find it fitting to “Give Thanks” for the incredible season we have had in 2016. In our last newsletter in August, I was named General Manager of The Country Club at Woodmore, and have received such a tremendous outpouring of support. For all of this, I can’t begin to express my sincerest gratitude and appreciation. In the past three months, you may have had the pleasure of meeting some of our newest CCW Department heads and teammates. I am a firm believer that I am only as good as the team that surrounds me; A team that shares the same vision and mission for our membership. Our CCW’s Staff Mission Statement is “To Provide an Exceptional Level of Service and Create the very Best Club Experience, Each and Every Day for our Members." In this newsletter, you will find a short bio of our newest CCW Directors. I hope you get the opportunity to meet, welcome, and make acquaintances with each one. I am happy to say that 2016 has been a very good year for CCW. Through our various membership classifications, we have added over 100 names to our Membership Roster, and our Club is financially strong. Brandon Collins and the entire Grounds Department steered us through an extremely hot summer, that many surrounding courses succumbed to, with the record breaking temperatures. The Club hosted various golf and social events with member attendance exceeding years past. All of these successes are because of YOU, our members. Your membership referrals are always greatly appreciated, and ultimately

lead to our Club’s retention. We have also completed the Upcoming 2017 Golf and Social Calendar. Look for new and exciting additions to the calendar, also keeping our Club’s traditions in mind. If you have not had the opportunity to complete the “Member Interest Survey,” I encourage you to do so. This survey allows us to continuously add enhancements and value to your membership. Soon we enter the Holiday season of “Giving”, and you should have received the letter announcing The 2016 Employee Holiday Fund. These funds allow us to show our Club’s staff our appreciation for their hard work, dedication, and efforts throughout the year. Also, beginning December 1st, the Club will begin our annual “Toys for Tots” Donation drive to help local families that are in need of a little assistance this Holiday season. I thank each and every member in advance for any and all of your contributions. Finally, I would like to remind our membership, that the Clubhouse will be closed January 1st, reopening Wednesday, January 25th. We look forward to seeing everyone at the “Welcome Back Member Reception” on Friday, January 27th. Wishing everyone a wonderful Holiday Season and a safe and Happy New Year. See you at the club! Mary

MEMBERSHIP News

NEW MEMBERS Let’s give a warm welcome to our new members:

From the Director of Membership Hello All! I would like to formally introduce myself. My name is Greg Rotzell and I am the new Director of Membership Sales here at the Country Club at Woodmore. My professional background has been rooted in the game of golf. I worked for the Travelers Championship in Hartford, Connecticut in 2015. From there I had the opportunity to join the Tiger Woods Foundation and help run the Quicken Loans National this year at Congressional Country Club. My passion for golf has grown more and more throughout my career. Golf is an experience that all people should have the pleasure of enjoying. Here at Woodmore, the love of the sport is extremely evident. That passion is what drives this country club. Our goal in membership is to drive new members into Woodmore. First and foremost, that starts with the members. You are the ones that love this club more than anyone else. That makes it easy for you to let friends and colleagues know how much they are missing out by not being a member at Woodmore. I am incredibly excited to be a part of the family here! I look forward to working with all of you to make a difference at Woodmore. If you ever have any questions for me never hesitate to give me a call or send me an e-mail. All the best! Greg

FOOD & BEVERAGE News

From the Food & Beverage Department Hello Woodmore, My name is Eduardo Caballero and I was born in Lima, Peru. I came to USA to pursue my dreams and work in the Hospitality Business. I went to Northern Virginia Community College and got my degree in Hospitality as I always dreamed about. While in school I worked for Sam & Harry’s Steak House, The Caucus Room, Smith and Wollensky Restaurant, Zola and Indigo Landing. My last job was at Trump National Country Club that got me interested on growing up in the Food & Beverage side of the golf business. At Trump National Country Club I was working as a Food & Beverage Manager but that wasn’t what I wanted to increase my knowledge about golf clubs so The Country Club at Woodmore open its doors to me to become the Food and Beverage Director and bring some of my expertise, I am very grateful to be part of the Woodmore family and I am very happy to help you get whatever is on my hands to make your experience the best ever. If you have any food or beverage suggestions please don’t hesitate to email me at ecaballero@concertgolfclubs.com or call me at 301.249.6100 ext. 207. Eduardo Caballero

Events and Catering My name is Tasman Winston and I was born and raised in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. A few years after graduating from high school I moved with the love of my life to Hawaii. It was there that I developed a love for event planning. For several years, I worked for Joint-Base Pearl Harbor Hickam as an Event Manager for the U.S. Air Force. While in Hawaii my love and I got engaged. After a short engagement we decided to move back to Maryland to have our wedding with all of our family and friends. During the planning process of my wedding I came across The Country Club at Woodmore. I fell in love with the venue and ended up marrying the love of my life here. I have now come full circle in starting the next phase of my life doing what I love with an organization that was part of bringing love to my life. I cannot express how excited and grateful I am to be a part of the Woodmore team. To have your special event here at the club, please email me at Twinston@ ccwoodmore.com or call at 301.249.6100x206

GREEN News

Greetings from the Grounds Department! Greetings from the grounds department! I hope everyone is enjoying this fall as much our department. The golf course is bouncing back beautifully from the long, hot summer and 2016 will soon be a distant memory. I have always been a person who can find the silver lining in everything and I believe that one learns more from adversity than from when things go well. This year was no excepetion. The extreme weather patterns that we went through pointed out several deficiencies in the infrastructure of the golf course as well as gave us some good indicators on where we can change our agronomic and chemical programs. Moving forward, we will be working to expand our drainage and irrigation systems, modifying agronomic practices on greens to encourage water movement, and changing chemical programs to address new pests. It is always our goal to provide the membership with the best possible conditions on a daily basis. Mother nature made it difficult on the staff this year, but ultimately, I am confident we will be better off for it! As always, I look forward to seeing everyone out on the golf course and have a happy fall! Fairways and Greens, Brandon Collins, Golf Course Superintendent
