Note From The Editors “Noting all of the Keys this Month”

Happy Thanksgiving PHHS Key Clubbers!!!! Congratulations for overcoming marking period 1 Key Clubbers!

Now onto the most festive marking period of the year. Thanksgiving has just passed, but we are still oh so thankful for each and every member that makes up our club and dedicates themselves to each helping cause. As the year slowly approaches its end with major holidays such as Hanukkah and Christmas just around the corner, new Key Club opportunities are also here as well! Participate in the toy drive and make Winter CSH cards. Attend the Key Club General Meetings to find out new ways to help out our community. After all, not everyone has the luxury to celebrate these joyous Holidays, so let’s help out as much as we can!

Yours in Caring and Service,

Sharon Christian and Tara Srinivasan On the cover: President Kou and Mrs. Sturm sort out the Fall Children’s Specialized Hospital cards. Thanks to everything who contributed! Key Notes • November 2015 • Volume XLI Issue VI • Page 2

Yankee Candle order boxes arrive in D-25 (infusing the room with wonderful scents!)

Yankee Candle Sales

The Yankee Candle fundraiser is PHHS Key Club’s one and only

fundraiser of the year, so it’s something we take very seriously. After all, its funds contribute to lots of important happenings throughout the year, including reducing the cost of DCON for any Key Clubber who sells a certain amount during the fundraiser. Luckily, this fundraiser raised a total of over $1,700! It’s a huge accomplishment, and we thank all those members who participated. Enjoy your fantastic-smelling candles! Halloween @ the Hills We hope you have been eagerly

anticipating this recap article, because we have a lot to share! Halloween @ the Hills was a huge success. From the decorations to the games to the overall exciting atmosphere, the Pre-Prep and Event Crew did a wonderful job bringing the spirit of Halloween to D-25. The fun started at 2:3o on October 29th, immediately after school: Key Clubbers gathered to put up the holiday decorations and games we had been preparing for the past few weeks. Then at 5:00, costume-clad kids started entering and the holiday-dressed Event volunteers took

their places in the room to help the night run smoothly. Children would be given stickers to place on their birthday number on one of the calendars that made up the pathway into the room. Then they would enter and play some holiday-themed games, such as Pin the Nose on the Pumpkin, Flag Day Hula-Hoop Throw, and Cupid’s Arrow/Bean Bag Toss into heart-shaped boxes. Finally, the kids would “fish” for candy. It was clear that they enjoyed it immensely, and we hope everyone who participated did too! Congratulations on a fantastic job. We can’t wait for next year!

Peek Outside PHHS:

What’s Key Club Up To?

Spike Out Hunger Elections The Spike Out Hunger volleyball divisional

tournaments are coming up! Each LTG is organizing their own event for their division, and each division will progress and compete with others. Not only is this a great opportunity to play some hardcore volleyball, you can also eat food, meet other Key Clubbers from across the state, and have fun while donating to a cause that feeds struggling people! Contact our LTG Priya Lad at ltg20. lad@gmail.com for more information!

It seems as if the year had only just begun,

and yet the time to elect the new board is almost here! Across New Jersey, Key Clubbers are preparing to run for the position of 2016-2017 Lieutenant Governor for their respective division. The position is a huge responsibility; LTGs work hard to maintain communication between each individual Key Club and the District Board. In our own club, executive board elections are just around the corner as well! Lots of information for general members wanting to run for the positions of historian, bulletin editor, treasurer, recording secretary and corresponding secretary will be provided in the next general meeting.
