Note From The Editors “Noting all of the Keys this Month”
Hello PHHS Key Clubbers!!!!
Welcome back to school everyone! It has been a busy couple of weeks
getting adjusted to new schedules, teachers and classmates, but after a while we get used to this daily routine. We add more clubs to spice up our school lives, and for some of you, Key Club may be one of them. That being said, we are very pleased to see so many new, excited members at our September 9th, 10th and 16th info sessions, as well as old faces who have remained so very dedicated to this club. This year will be filled with engaging community service opportunities as well as interactions with other Key Club Divisions. We encourage you to participate as much as you can to help serve our community, and feel great about it as well. We hope to see you guys at upcoming events like Fall Rally and the Breast Cancer Walk!
Yours in Caring and Service,

Welcome Back New and Returning key Club Members! We are so excited to kick off this year, and hope you are too! Here is a brief general overview of the events and projects we’ll be starting off with:
Fall Rally Can Drive: To support our district project, Fall Rally is rallying up as many non-perishables as possible to fuel the food banks. The drive ends on Friday, October 9 in time for Fall Rally, so until then keep those cans coming! Yankee Candle Fundraiser: Our beloved fundraiser of the year has just begun. It combines two of our favorite things: raising money for the club, and keeping our rooms and cars smelling fresh! To help contribute, get your hands on a catalog and start selling! Extra forms can be found in room D-25 and are due October 15th and 16th. Halloween at the Hills: We are happy to announce that our Halloween at the Hill’s theme will be the Holidays! The room will be decorated with symbols and pictures inspired by such holidays like Christmas, New Year’s, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter and more! The possibilities are endless! Start thinking of ideas for decorations and games to make this Key Club’s Halloween tons of fun for children and families. Fall CSH Cards: Colorful greetings cards are just the thing to brighten up any child’s day, especially those in Children’s Specialized Hospitals. Get creative with seasonal images and phrases to design your cards; they’re quick, easy, and fun, and make a huge difference! More information will be given at the next general meeting on October 13th. Key• Notes • May2015 2015 • Volume Volume XLI Issue Page3 32 Key Notes September • •Volume XLI Issue IVII• •Page 2015 XLI

New District Project As a fresh service year rolls in, new opportunities and ideas are brought along with it to help better serve our community. As NJ Key Club waves farewell to a successful five years supporting the Eliminate Project, it welcomes the new district project: Supporting the New Jersey Federation of Food Banks. What makes this project so important to New Jersey? In the state alone, 1 in 8 people struggle with hunger every day. The district fundraising goal is $90,077.8— the number comes from: 900,000 New Jersey residents who rely on food banks 7.7 million times a year, someone is fed by a food bank 1 in 8 people in New Jersey who struggle with hunger 5 food banks in the Federation So how are we incorporating the District Project in our own club? Other than the Fall Rally can drive, currently we are planning for a second food drive to be held sometime around January, where we hope to bring together many of the schools in the district to contribute. Hopefully, with enough awareness and involvement, we will be able to make a dent in our community’s hunger rates! R.T.C. Recap! On September 19th, a Regional Training Committee at Millburn High School was held. Through various workshops, our officers learned much about the district project, the roles of club officers, and more efficient ways of serving the club through project ideas, club organization, and more. Officers were also able to become distinguished members while learning and meeting other club members across the district.

What element of Key Club actually brings about change? The general members! This year started out with three first-meetings for new and old members to be informed about registration, dues, and the latest events coming up, on September 9th, 10th, and 16th. Dues were collected from September 30th to October 2nd. We hope you guys are just as excited and ready for this year as we are!
