Robert Bateman Robert Bateman Key Club ended the school year with one of our biggest fundraisers of the year! On May 10th, we hosted a middle school dance in the small gym with great snacks, drinks and jammin' music. We raised approximately one thousand dollars with all the proceeds going to SIGN Fracture Care. It was a fun night with a great purpose! Furthermore, with the school year winding down, our Key Club’s newly elected the executives for the year of 2013/2014: Yujin Song President, Brenna Kwon -Vice President, Nicole Peters - Secretary, and Daniel Liebe as Treasurer. Congratulations on the newly appointed positions! On May 30th, the new executives got some training on the requirements and duties of their elected positions with Kiwanians at Mill Lake This training was very informative and a great way to start thinking about the goals for next year. After the training, everyone helped clean up Mill Lake by walking around the park picking up pieces of garbage. This year was a tremendous success with big and small scale projects like Halloween for Hunger, Operation Christmas Child, School sleepover, Cupcake Trolley, Mushroom manure, Middle School Dance, to name a few. This work could not have been possible without the dedication of our members. Huge thanks to all the seniors, Ms. Pollastretti, Ms. Rama, and the executives. Good luck to all the seniors graduating this year. You will be leaving behind your legacy which had affected the community and the people in need all around the world. This year was a great year for the Bateman’s Key club. Let the service never stop~! -Yujin Song
Yale Key Club For the month of May, Yale's Key Club members were involved in several fun fairs. On May 10th and 11th, Yale Key Clubbers volunteered at Dormick Park and at Rotary Stadium to spend their time entertaining and having fun with children. We also continued to sell our annual mushroom compost for kids cancer and fracture care, and you can still buy a bag for only $4 from Monday to Friday, 9am-3pm at the office of Yale. A few members from Key Club also decided to clean up Mill Lake and fortunately, the weather cleared up by then! Additionally, Yale's Key Club recycled with success, even in the rain. Lastly, we said farewell to another fantastic year of Key Club with our final meeting, and said goodbye, thank you, and congratulations to the amazing graduates. - Rachel Lee
Abby Key Club This month at the Abby Senior Key Club, we planned a fundraiser with our school's leadership team. We are having a barbecue on Friday the seventh at lunch. This is perfect timing because that is when our annual Storm the Wall event is happening. Storm the Wall is a rigorous triathlon held at Abby in which students and teachers form teams and compete. That Friday we have an extended lunch so the timing is optimal. The Club is also involved in our school's convocation. Many of our members will be serving as ushers that night. This past week, the executives of our club, along with those from Bateman and Yale, attended an informative training session at Mill Lake Park. Afterwards, we cleaned up the park and socialized for a bit. Due to the ending of the school year, our Key Club has not been able to do large projects but we look forward to the summer where we will continue to serve the community with Kiwanis. Enjoy the weather - Pranav Ayra
Garibaldi Key Club As the school year draws to an end, we as a new club are finishing it's first year off strong! we have just finished off a non-profit event to advertise Key Club where we sold flower grams to support those staff and students that are leaving the school this year! also, on the weekend, thanks to Key Clubber Hannah Brown, we had a bake sale at a local mall to which we raised 410 dollars. All Proceeds went to support Juvenile Diabetes! All in all, the years has been great, and all things consider, I am proud to say that we have become a strong club with a lot of prospect in the future. I look forward to the next school yeah, along with the rest of the Club! -Nick Nichols
GW Graham Key Club In Sohl Key Club of GW Graham of the month of May, we started to wrap everything up for the end of the school year. We have successfully completed our 30 Hour Famine (later known as 24 Hour Famine) and our Hunger Games' movie night as of Friday, May 31. The odds were in our favour as the turn out was great and it was an enjoyable night! We sent people to the Ruth and Naomi's to prep and serve once again at the beginning of the month. We had our executive training meeting on Monday, May 27 after school. We new executive members are very eager to begin our new positions of next year and already have a couple ideas. We have only one more meeting and a freezie sale and then we are done for this school year. We are all excited to begin the next year and start working on new ideas. We give our farewell to our graduating members and good luck in life outside of school! -Mackenzie Ives
